  2. I thought you had an EA888 Evo III engine but yours is an EA211 EVO, nasty things. The one in the last picture, is it out of the cam cover or the oil pump?
  3. Sounds like an EA888 engine? The solenoids fail and cleaning them doesn't help, they are only about £50.

The engine is relatively low milage as I fitted it new VAG exchange when I bought the car at four years old with a fragged engine so it is difficult to quantify really, the VVT actuator had been playing up bringing on the MIL (it is oil pressure activated) and that stopped as well as the chain rattle first thing, I think Ceratec has its best benefits with direct wiping contact parts like timing chains and none roller tappets. I just about beg anyone with a timing chain engine to use it, modern low saps oil is cruel to chains. I have always had a low opinion of snake oil cures but have found Slick 50 gearbox treatment and Ceratec to be beneficial.

The ECU monitors the crank angle firing speeds via the G28 and the cylinder position by the G40, if it detects excess oxygen in the exhaust gases from the LSU 4.9 wideband oxygen sensor it can calculate which cylinder is at fault and shut down that cylinders injector to protect the cat from unburnt fuel.
  8. Yes but the secondary indirect injectors fail and cause an idle problem.
  9. Yes it is a common problem with the EA288 but why didn't the ****ers do it when the belt was off, that bloody negligent!
  10. When the belt fails on an 8 valve, as @pikpilot says, the rods take a hammering. AMC do a very good casting, VAG Diesel heads should not be skimmed.

  12. Ignore what any modern VAG coolant temp gauge says, they are intentionally programed to read 90 from a real 77 to 117.
  13. Probably the usual Mechatronic pressure accumulator failure, we fit new mechs form TPS which costs around £2500 and can be done without removing the box from the car.
  14. Certainly looks like your code reader is missing something. The warning to stop is just an incorrect oil pressure warning so ignore it.

Forgive me if this a repeat but I am bored waiting for a customer to turn up In the Fabia 2 CAVE 05/10>05/12 CTHE 05/12>12/14 There were some component changes to the CAVD before it changed to the CTHE such as breather hose, pistons and crank which were carried over but as for CTHE parts never factory fitted to the CAVE all I can see is timing chain cover (HUUUUMMM) and cylinder head to cam carrier strainer plus possibly the cat; even the ECU ran over between the two,
  16. There are four drains, two front and two rear and VW have a special pokey stick to clean then for about £200!😬

There is a growing problem on the Tiguan with a panoramic roof when the inner pressing de-bonds from the roof skin, often allowing water into the driving aids unit in the screen top… on a customers car it caused the car to fight him for control… but don’t worry, all this will be sorted out with full self driving cars 🙄

What did it do, spin a shell? 03C 198 401 D, £1134.60 does seem a lot for a set of rods but they are used in a huge range of VAG group engines from 2006>2018 such as CAVA, D, E, CTHA, D, CAXA, CNWA, CTKA, CTHD, CKMA and more. It would be unusual for VAG to make the same part with two part numbers at vastly different prices. What really made me want to cry was the old unit going back for exchange with a perfect crank, rods, pistons and genuine new oil pump but the surcharge was too much to keep them but I did keep the full new genuine head and put the original back on.
