  1. Remind me Monday and I can check which other VAG models it was used in, that could make the search easier.
  2. The full unit code is KMC, new unit part number 0BR 525 010 G and £5164.80…🤑
  3. The genuine motor for the combi is 5F4 955 711 A and costs £203.04 from any Skoda dealer. The only aftermarket version I know of is by Bugiad under their number BWM50656 but doesn’t appear to be easily available The number of rear wiper motors I have changed on an Octavia 1 over the last 22 ish years? Zero. The number of Octavia 2, 3, Audi A3, A4 estate etc etc… can’t begin to count the number, all so the washer jet could come out the middle, style over function. The A3 type 8P motor must be the single most unreliable car component I have experienced in my 42 years spannering.
  4. Modern VAG temperature gauges display rubbish, they are programmed to read 90 at 77 and still read 90 at 117, it was to stop people obsessing over the minutiae of the readings so if it is erratic, probably the sensor. I was working on a 2017 S3 yesterday which came in for DSG issues (OTT remap killing the box) and noticed the fan would not shut up, I looked at the gauge and was surprised to see it didn’t have one (never noticed that before) so I looked on VCDS and it was running at 109 constantly at idle, failed thermostat but no indication… daft!
  5. What is the VIN?
  6. I concur, 06J 103 226 A £6 each
  7. It was built with the failure prone eclectically adjustable mechanical pump 04L 121 011 P but I would have thought by now it would have been replace with the new 04L 121 011 N
  8. What is the VIN? If the temp gauge goes over 90 it means it is really at least 117 degrees.
  9. G12 Evo either in concentrate to mix 40% coolant with 60% distilled water (the latter is vital) or ready mixed 50/50 which is a bit stronger than strictly necessary in our climate.
  10. Don’t use a recon skimmed head unless the supplier can prove it has been re HIP coated, VAG forbid “reworking” of their Diesel heads. We use new AMC castings.
  11. I read an Audi TPI not long ago that stated something along the lines of “The wiper arms should not be used as an earth when attempting to jump start the vehicle”, I mean, why would you do that anyway but someone must have.
  12. Yes it is very simple to change WHEN COLD! Make sure you use G12Evo coolant. A nasty side effect of this is water can be forced into the wires and travel all along them to the next plug/socket and cause a lot of damage.
  13. @FREEDOM I have never seen that, nasty
  14. That is actually tantamount to blackmail, they didn’t cause the failure so what you are saying is “fix it for free or I will shop you”, they missed it so should be reported anyway as it is unforgivable but not blackmailed.
  15. Before anything else, do an actual oil pressure test, you will need a gauge with an M10x1 adapter in place of the switch.
  16. 005707(P164B) - Oil Pressure Switch Malfunction; Intermittent
  17. This happens a lot, Passat 3G’s losing their ABS coding, T6’s suddenly deciding their dash has a TACHO and sends the display bonkers… stupid, it shouldn’t happen but don’t worry, they will have this sorted well before cars start driving themselves as can you image what would happen if a module recoded itself for traffic on the other side of the road? 😳
  18. There are two different 1.0 front pipe designs, what is the cars VIN?
  19. From what I have experienced on the EA888 it will be the oil pressure reduction valve but this is much more work on a EA211 and involves replacing the cam belt which can be a sketch.
  20. Which engine?
  21. There's actually two sets on the shelf.
  22. This is common right across the VAG range, the A5 saloon is the worst.
  23. Now where have I heard that before...🤣 If you buy from that link you will help a lowly poor mechanic afford his Vodka tonight.
