  1. Maxton design do a nice spoiler extension mate
  2. Check the battery when the engine is running that the alternator is giving out enough juice to run the car and charge the battery as under load the car uses the alternator and battery use a cheap alternator/battery tester they are cheap and do the job
  3. https://rtmgperformance.com/collections/turbochargers I’ve just ordered a stiffer wastegate for mine as the OEM one was rusting you can’t beat there quality at the price
  4. It depends how far you want to go with the car mickmartin is right technically you could fit whatever turbo you wanted if you had a manifold made , that being said for a bolt on turbo exactly the same as the OEM one just with custom internals RTMG do three specs 300 RS ( capable of 300 BHP) 360 RS (capable of 360 BHP) 380 RS (capable of 380 BHP & 2 bar of boost!) baring mind stock injectors will get you a Max of 275HP @ 1.72 bar of boost after that like I stated earlier you have to run meth to Compensate the lack of fuel and it’s a cheaper way than upping the CC of the injectors … with water mixed with the meth it also cools & cleans the valves and keeps the bore cooler which is what you want aswell
  5. Great comment mate agree totally , the boys in turkey use water methanol to get the boost to come in faster , you can get fast spool turbos , A45 Amg’s have fast spool turbos , they use ball bearing turbos , with a small electric motor which spools up in low Rev range
  6. If you do that though you are making a rolling race weapon as unless it’s fast spool , low down in the Rev range you’ll have no boost so no power
  7. Supercharger can’t really be upgraded , but the turbo charger can be changed for a OEM hybrid one from RTMG (other companies exist but these guys are the best at the 1.4 twincharger)
  8. My bad mate thought you had a VRS
  9. Yea clip in clip out jobby
  10. I use the gapping tool you linked but RTMG make one and I have that , you want a 0.6mm clearance to get the most efficient spark
  11. picked up the gearbox today with the LSD fitted and rebuilt , would like to thank LANCS TRANSMISSION for the professional friendly and well priced service , there’s some things that are beyond my capabilities and without all the professional tools it worked out better to get it done by someone I trusted … I would like to add that these guys said they do at least one dq200 rebuild a week and told me there price structure and it is really fairly priced I would recommend them if your even in a pickle
  12. I still have a standard cat down pipe and middle section if you want to swap for the loud exhaust 😂🤣😂🤣
  13. Agree on this , try Tony banks in Leeds or if you are down south you can try DKU performance in Birmingham and get a sports cat and Downpipe I would also get the middle silencer removed as it’s pointless and just there to make the engine super quiet so you can’t hear it in the cabin as VW like to do that for some reason. 😂🤣
  14. Cheers mate will do , just waiting on the limited slip differential arriving from quaife , for anyone else wanting to do this conversion it’s the 20 tooth LSD you need for the gearbox out of the golf mk5 GT
  15. I recommend poly bushing the car if you are looking for significant improvements mate awesome GTI sell them and you have varying differences in stiffness
  16. Hi mate I take mine to ashton’s Autoworx in oldham not too pricey and does a really good job , as for tyres I run either rainsport 3’s or acelera both are really good I think the rainsports are a better all round tyre the acelera’s are semi slick so only good when warmed up
  17. They can bring up live data of each injector if one is stuck open over fuelling or vice versa it will show which injector is faulty and you will only have to replace one , I had diesel knock once and it was due to an injector stuck open
  18. Each injector has a compensation code on them and they need to be coded correctly or will run like complete crap
  19. Hi Mate have they put in the correct injector codes when they were recoding it and have you put in brand new injectors or second hand the injector you have put in might be faulty
  20. 2.5kg of metal goodness 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
  21. Cheers mick glad to see yours is still going strong on stock internals aswel Hey guys, few bits ordered today for the dq250 as the dq200 does not have any cooler lines or interface in terms of cooling but the dq250 does it has a heat exchanger on top that connects to the coolant lines , but rather than butchering the fabia lines and having to drain all coolant I have decided to get an adapter plate and fit an external oil cooler for the gearbox oil this should help with continuous use and hopefully launch controls so it doesn’t burn the clutch plates out, have also got a better looking Dsg oil filter housing so when I drop and replace all the oil and filter I will also be fitting that
  22. RTMG mate offer the best stage 1 map, I’m stage three on stock internals running water methanol, cars are good for around 200-220 bhp without many supporting mods just some more aggressive timing and upping the injectors , consider spark plug/ coil pack upgrade before remapping
  23. Hi froggy , been reading your thread mate , it’s not your fault that the 1.2 engine gave up, you can service these engines to death and they still go kaput they are absolutely notorious for timing Chain problems and subsequent death happened to my mothers 3 cylinder 1.2 also twice
  24. Look out for spark plugs / coil pack / wiring problems these engines are notoriously bad on oem coil/plugs , modding wise can go as far as you want but putting power down in real terms is really hard and the dq200 is made of chocolate … and for the money like mick said it’s how far you want to go where there is faster options on the market (m140i , a45 amg, r32) all have 4wd
  25. Hey guys and girls been very quiet lately due to work commitments but the project is still coming along , say hello to an OEM dual mass flywheel from a dq250 1.4 tsi golf , it weighs in at a whopping 10.6 kg so I have had it sent off to make a ultra lightweight flywheel here in the Uk 🇬🇧 hoping to get it a single mass flywheel instead of a dual mass with a weight of 3.3-4kg will be an absolute rocket with a weight saving like that as the dq250 is slightly heavier than a dq200
