  1. Thanks for putting so much effort into your car and putting up so many cool photos! Reading about your seats caused flash-backs to when I melded a set of crushed/diagonal Golf GTi seats onto my Beetle's runners. Decidedly easy by comparison to your hard-work on a modern car, but my it was tight! http://flic.kr/p/5QMdEB and http://flic.kr/s/aHsj7NR46L Hmmm... memories. All I'll say is don't sell you car to a teenage boy and his over-paid father, as your pride and joy may end-up like mine, crashed Oh well...
  2. Probably not strictly speaking a "Skoda Fabia" photo per se, but it's certainly a view that I've had the pleasure of for all these trouble-free miles.

  4. How does £99.97 sound for a pair of Osram 66240XNB-HCB Night Breaker Unlimited? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Osram-66240XNB-HCB-Night-Breaker-Unlimited/dp/B00FQ8AVHS Bit of a wait, but hey!
  5. Holy guacamole! That's unfortunate :S Fortunately for me, mine aren't anything like that. Shocking! Glad you got it sorted, though.
  6. Oh la la. Although I'd prefer to not have to buy them at that sort-of price (very expensive), the OSRAM XENARC NIGHTBREAKER ones would appear to be mid-range. Does anyone have any experience of this particular bulb - or have any other views about the others on the list that seanw has kindly supplied. Thanks again, I am not used to asking questions about cars as this one is so damn good, I've not needed to worry about it nor get it touched by a spanner (other than routine servicing, of course). Wayne.
  7. OK Thanks. And if you find bulbs that are cheap(er) I'd appreciate knowing. Expensive!
  8. Marvellous, Ta. I actually have run Skoda's own Headlamp covers ever since I picked-up the car, so I'll look at both layers.
  9. Hello again guys, My '04 Fabia vRS Mark 1 is still going strong and eating up the miles at 204,000miles and counting. Has anyone got any suggestions however, about how I can improve the brightness of my factory-fit Xenon headlights please? For instance, do they have something like a bulb that I can replace? I clean them and the headlight washers work just fine too, but that appears to not to make any difference. I swear that they are dimmer now than they used to be. Thanks in advance. PS: Maybe I shouldn't wear my sunglasses at night?
  10. Did anyone take photos of this procedure please? My car is misting up. Ta.
  11. Not happy about the decision to phase out the Fabia vRS, to say the least. http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/skoda-fabia-vrs-is-no-more-skoda-suv-coming-2013-08-21 Perhaps the reason why it didn't sell, is because it wasn't diesel and wasn't that accessible/cheap and perhaps a little too complex, eh?
  12. I've just removed the pollen filter and almost got pinned to the back-seat! I am going to give it a good run tonight in the cold to see if the air (hot air preferably) comes through now. If it does, then I'll have to fabricate a much cruder and open-weave filter of-sorts out of an old filter frame. I wish I/the dealer had /my old filter! Oh well. Time will tell...
  13. Thank you rum4mo To be fair to my Skoda dealership, they serviced it a week-or-so ago and that was replaced. This problem has been on-going for ages, though, I think. Pretty dire now, though. Brrrrr...
  14. My '04 Fabia vRS has developed a problem with very very poor heating. It takes about 30-minutes / 30-miles at 70-mph for it to warm up. Even then it's not what you would call 'hot'; more 'warm'. During this time, though, the on-dash thermostat demonstrates that it's fine, moving at a normal pace to "90" and staying there. The foot, dash and windscreen blower is set solidly to top-speed (all the way to the right), but the air comes out at a light blow. If you stand outside the vehicle, you can definitely hear the fan sucking, doing its job. Recirculation button functions, as does the recirculation when engaging reverse gear. Its a total pain, please help :(
  15. 183,000+ and still counting...
  16. I love the internet. Thank you ap0gee. The hose had popped off of the bulkhead nozzle. Pushed them back together (holding both ends so as not to push the nozzle through the bulkhead) and heard the most beautiful sound, *click*. Hooray. The longest time was working out where the pipe'd gone before I eventually found it. The only way I did that was to run the pump a bit and run round to see if I could see any "new" hoses that had appeared. On this occasion, it'd shot straight up so it was like it saying "OK! You've found me! I surrender!", but I'd recommend that this is a two person job: one to operate the rear washer, one to see where the water is coming from. Anyway, very much sorted. Thanks again.
  17. AARRGGHH!!! My Fabia vRS has a rear hose issue where if I ask it to wash the rear window, the wiper wipes, but then water (screen cleaner) pours from the back of the under engine tray! I took the bumper off and checked all the hoses, motors and reservoir there before I realised that the problem was further back. I hope it's at a union / joint between two lengths of hose, but at the moment there's so much snow outside I can't get the car up high enough to take the under engine tray off to see. This post of ap0gee would be invaluable as I can't wash my rear window without dumping 5ltrs of screen cleaner washer fluid (more expensive than Angel tears! ;o) ) on the road behind me. THANK YOU! EDIT: Oh, I've read back and found ap0gee talking here: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/93030-rear-washer-jet-issues-help/page__view__findpost__p__1150674 I'll try this. Ta.

  19. Thank you! I went out earlier and bought a Haynes manual (gulp) and this made it as clear as mud I have washer water coming out of the nozzle (a good thing) and water coming out of rear washer motor (a bad thing). The wiper arm is effectively "spot-welded" to the wiper-motor pivot too. Any ideas what could be causing the motor downpour? The water seems to be coming out of the black plastic nozzle on the motor/interface and not the rubber pipe. Mores the pity else I'd just cut it down a bit. Thanks.
  20. Hello people! How do you remove the tailgate inner panel / so-called "door card", so that I can expose the internals? I think the hose feeding water to the nozzle has come adrift. It is a '04 and has done 110,000+ miles, though. So I can't complain! Thanks awfully. Happy Easter.
  21. Hello, How do you remove the tailgate inner panel, so that I can expose the internals? Thanks.
  22. Thanks, I thunk of it and made it all by myself, I did.
