  1. @Mardu the prolonged stay in 2nd gear is always observed, regardless of noise/warming up. The engineer at the dealership said that was normal. On a separate but potentially related note, should DSG somewhat freely allow you to shift up and down gears when you put into semi automatic mode? I noticed mine won't let me shift to 2nd gear or above at low revs (below the 1750 RPM mark) which can be desirable when you're driving in snow. Regards, Rajiv
  2. Skoda UK should use these forums as a technical knowledge base in case they don't already!
  3. @AwaoffSki do you happen to have more details on Service Campaign 34H5 and what issues / symptoms it addresses? For over a year now my DSG box will make a squealing sound on change from 1->2 and 2->3 when the car is under sufficient load and specifically when the car is warmed up having done some 10-15plus miles of stop start town driving. I've had a go at taking the car to the dealer to investigate and also sent them a video with sound of the issue. Due to the fact that the car has to be suitably driven around before it will exhibit the problem they weren't able to reproduce the issue (and they only try from cold start) and closed the issue. Any tips on how to get them to investigate? I'm coming to the end of the 3 year warranty this year (car built April/May'15) but I took out the extended warranty when I purchased the car so should be ok for a couple more years? I'm also finding the car seems to hold onto 2nd gear longer than I would expect ( I drive in Eco mode all the time and I notice it holds onto second gear into 2000RPM plus). Dunno if that's normal or just me being paranoid. This was also reported when I took the car in regarding the DSG squeal.
  4. Yes, I have noticed this in my car. Very faint and assumed it's normal.
  5. Thanks for replying guys! @GoneOffSki, you replied to the other fellow in the linked post that new mechanics would also be required. Is that a fix that is required in all cases or just in his case since he was seeing more than just the whining noise problem? I have extended warranty for 5 years (approx 4 remaining) but I'd much rather they did a proper fix first time rather than it fail again within warranty. What is the best way to persuade then to do a complete fix?
  6. @Mardu, how's the new clutches? My car is starting to have the same problem. My issue pretty much mirrors Torx's description. The problem is very intermittent. How do you go about showing the issue to the garage? I assume they won't do a great job of diagnosing or fixing the prob if they can't reproduce it :-(
  7. Reliably is the key word. There's definitely something cookey about this functionality.Without doing anything to my phone or contacts, I find sometimes the addresses sych but other times they don't. Not sure what the issue may be. Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  8. Interesting... Will have to research this as never heard this before. Anyone else come across this point and able to validate?Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  9. Impressed with my MY16, my cousin is looking to buy one for himself on the used market. He'll prob go for 1.4TSI SE L DSG unless he can get a good deal on an L&K ;-). Given my satisfaction with my MY16 I've concluded Skoda have managed to iron out a lot of the early major problems in this MY and I'm recommending he look for an MY16 for himself. He'll also benefit from MIB2 :-). Agreed he won't find too many used MY16 cars just yet, but they should start coming through thick and fast by Aug/Sept if he can wait. Personally I bought my Octy brand new after running scared having read about all the problems and lemons on the used market. Hence I'm not too sure what are the obvious things to look out for and help my cousin with his purchase. Hoping folks on this thread might be able to provide a useful guide. I came across this one but really not sure what to make of it... http://www.skoda.net.r66.co.uk/carview.aspx?id=605771834 I know the car depreciates like anything, and I can see this car isn't even a year old and has already done over 12k miles, but that price just seems v.low for used approved. Appreciate your thoughts on this one. What's a good price for a year old good, used approved 1.4TSI DSG SE-L? Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  10. What city are we talking about here. I live in zone 4 of NW London - Lots if traffic lights, slow moving traffic plus speed bumps to slow down for and pot holes to slow down and drive around. I get around 35mpg on average during town driving on journeys longer than 20min Mines a 1.4TSI (150PS), DSG driven in Eco mode. Had it for a year now from new. Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  11. I'm finding my 1.4 TSI gives better economy on Asda fuel than standard Shell. Im sure V-Power might give an improvement but not really worth the money in my case. Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  12. Recommendation is to avoid the printed manual and read online using the service app Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  13. @y me, do you have volume controls on the steering. If you push the volume control inwards the radio/media will switch off but stay on the same screen Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  14. Now that you folks mention the ability to use voice control to enter the postcode I'm dying to give this a try. Entering by hand is a right faff with all the looking for the ptcd button and having to toggle ABC 123 too many times Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  15. Skoda Simply Clever. I wonder if it's the same in a VW as well? Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  16. Ace car wash (by Ace Cafe, Park Royal) do a fab job of cleaning my car. May want to give them a call and see if they offer mobile valet ( the owner was talking about it last time I was there).0208 795 1234 Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  17. Confirmed by us folk with previous experience of this nature, Customer service won't have a clue about the new spec for some weeks yet. Possibly till the first cars start to roll onto UK roads! They're hopeless!Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  18. Where's the MY17 discussion/speculation/fuss? I ordered my car around this time last year and have fond memories of the MY16 spec-ulation ;-) MIB2, Smartlink and all that! :-D I wonder what changes (improvements?) MY17 brings. This time last year Skoda offered some free spec upgrades (ACC, Front Assist, Park Assist if I remember correctly). Are all those now standard on the SE-L? Any free upgrade offers this year? 19. Isn't it the case that only Eco mode has the coasting feature in the DSG models? Surely that also gives some reasonable level of economy gain. On that front I'm amazed on a flat road how long the car retains a decent speed when it goes into this coasting mode. Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  20. Lol... I do agree with that. The way you put it, the next time I see one of the new Mercs it will likely remind me of the disappointment of opening the breakmaker in the morning only to discover something went wrong and my loaf didn't rise properly as expected. Anyone that has a breadmaker at home will know what I mean [emoji6] Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  21. Wow! I've learned something new... Always wondered why the passenger side wiper was parked in that odd position when the car is off and why it moves slightly when the car is in motion! Wrote it off as some odd not so simply clever quirk if the car! Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  22. 1) You likely have your phone connected by Bluetooth and it's your phone's battery status. Next to it you have your phone's signal strength. 2) If it was 1st April I would tell you the button on top of the call button is for activating the hydraulic suspension and making the car bounce around. It's actually to bring up your car's active safety settings. On mine it brings up front assist on the maxidot if I recall correctly and I can choose to disable this. 3) Not sure in respect to putting into park as I just keep my foot on the brake and don't put the car into park. The engine restarts as soon as it detects your releasing pressure on the brakes so that the engine is firedup and ready to move the car by the time the brakes are fully released. Sometimes stop start might disable if there is some significant electrical drain on the battery e.g. heating AC on. Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  23. Now I understand why folks like to get their luggage wrapped in clingfilm... It's to stop the rough handed luggage handlers damaging the aircraft trim. I recommend you carry some clingfilm in the car from now on and wrap things that are likely to scratch the trim, before letting them get anywhere near the car! Sent from Tapatalk for Android
  24. I have this on my Silver SE-L. Lucky for you the car's just been washed today. I'll try and remember to take a pic tomorrow and post it. Sent from Tapatalk for Android
