  1. An airbag deploys as a result of voltage... A multi meter uses a voltage when checking resistances... And there is one on the passenger side also... Please stop what you're doing.
  2. I had the same thing when I first got my 2011 170 Manual... It was wheel balancing... The strangest was that it was only on acceleration as you describe.
  3. From memory... behind the front wheels, on the floor... the wheel arch liner meets a plastic tray that runs back under the floor, mine was loose and flapped against the body work at a variety of speeds.
  4. I live on a 'slight' hill... Park nose up = 1/4 tank Nose down = empty with light on... When it stops = I know its empty
  5. Thanks for the update... If you don't mind me asking, how much?
  6. Thats very kind of you Davey - Thanks! But... Success - I threw in a CD cleaner and it worked... Now, I know they're not thought of by some as being a good idea ... 'they knock lenses out of alignment' and... 'just knock the dust further into the lens body... and 'the only effective way is to use a cotton bud and swab the lens itself'. But that would have meant opening the case and stripping it down!!! (I hope no-one mentions I've had the thing apart already to replace the Hard-drive!) Doh! Combination of weak/dirty laser and disc/burn quality??? - Same Verbatim discs used for V12 and V13 BTW... Hope it saves someone a few hours! Thanks to everyone!
  7. Thanks everyone... Originally with V13 - I believe it did, but as I dont remember it faulting and the disc was removed and no 'Insert disc' error - I assume it did. Did that - great topic and very informative - Completed without error but when restarted, Columbus says to 'Insert Navigation disc' and when I put in V13 it goes on a loop - When I insert V12 it installs and says 'Maps updated remove disc' Yes I did - As far as I know its the easiest way to partition/format new SSD due to windows not recognising format type being used and if the old HDD is cloned then the partition sizes remain the same as before and you loose the benefit of more room on the new SSD. After another lookround on the web, a few posts remark about sometimes the update can take 'some days' to complete and to leave the disc in... Car is now on the back drive with a battery charger connected... Edit - In addition, I also think it might be an iso image issue... but have only one source...
  8. Thanks for that eyegr... It was around 2 weeks between updated maps and battery change. The V13 disc was ejected without me noticing an issue when I first updated, so I assume all OK as if not it would have said so? - ie 'Insert Navigation Disc' I'm also very aware of the pirated software and disc issues as I've 'seen' throughout the forums the trouble people are having with disc quality, burn speed and verification etc.
  9. Hello... Hope the Columbus/Navigation guys can shed some light... FYI 2011 Superb II Elegance 170bp Updated navigation to V.13 maps late November (sourced & downloaded myself) without issue and as far as I'm aware was working fine. Replaced battery as the slow cranking symptom was evident - Much better cranking BTW - but straight after, the Columbus unit asked for the Navigation DVD to be inserted. I inserted the V.13 disc and it went ahead and started updating the maps which I thought was weird but maybe disconnecting the battery corrupted something on the hard drive? (Keys in my pocket for the change-over) The update continued for some time but then restarted again and the update sat in a loop with a max progress of about 70% Inserted the V.12 disc and it "updated" the maps and all was OK - No loop - No request to insert disc. Bad disc thought I and re downloaded the ISO and re burnt - From the same download. Same fault Thought issue might be with HDD and new/larger map data? Convinced myself a 64gb SSD was the way to go - Swapped with no issues and now have larger area for Music - But fault remains Also put on maps via SD card - Update goes OK with the process showing as completed but when restarted it asks for Navigation DVD again... Only thing I haven't tried is another 'source' but when the Disc is in the unit the Map Info shows as latest maps... Gonna go and try leaving the updated disc in and get the unit to use the new maps from the disc without updating the map on the SSD - If it will??
  10. To ease the work of my xenons, the first thing I did with VCDS was to drop the coming home onto front fogs...
  11. I'm convinced the modifications in ANY form will have a detrimental effect on MPG and/or performance... If the mods were going to make mpg/performance in anyway better, VAG would have designed it that way to start with! VAG have had to cheat on emmisions so as to NOT compromise mpg/performance as its mpg/performance that sells the car... Mine is not being modified!
  12. 2011 Superb Elegance Estate... I have VCDS and had the option to code LED licence plate in VCDS. Fitted SKoda LED lights and bulb warning still came on... It is hit and miss...Some like LED and can be coded out, some wont accept the change in code even when they have the option in VCDS.
  13. Is it orange or red with an exclamation mark? If red then chances are its just the fluid a bit low - Check this first...
  14. Looks like oil starvation... First and second pic "appear" to be oil pressure relief valve in place and not in place. Third pic of camshaft also suggests oil starvation. There will be other issues within engine to cause low compression/misfire...
  15. Just FYI... I have Skoda LED units, the option in VCDS but need resistors. Other members have been down this route... This post here - As above..... See my post #11..... For some reason the VCDS option to change number plate lighting to LED doesn't work on the pre FL Superb as I have found out..... I've since found numerous other posts saying the same thing.
  16. I'd be playing closer attention to the bottom arms... The arms attach the bottom of the strut to the rest of the car. They also swivel up and down as they are connected to the strut as well as subject to a large amount of lateral force under braking AND acceleration. The inner parts of the arms move within the cars sub-frame and it wouldn't take much for something to catch unseen within this area. There are 2 bushes on each arm and don't forget the ball joint - I've known bottom arm ball joints cause all sorts of weird and wonderful noises...
  17. I bought Genuine front and rear flaps in June from skodapartsmunster in Ireland for 46 Euro inc delivery. Fronts - 13.68 Euro Rears - 11.20 Euro Delivery - 16.26 Euro With the favorable rate it worked out at £34 all in. I seem to remember they were the cheapest around even with the delivery... I see they are a bit more expensive now though... And only fronts listed?? http://www.skodapartsmunster.ie/skoda-superb-mk2-front-mudflaps-168-p.asp
