Don't start in the morning, just pushing
Could you please further explain this part? What do you mean by "it has both"?

Fuel consumption
Not sure about modern bikes with oil injection, but older two strokes with oil-petrol mix couldn't use engine brake, as carburettor couldn't provide enough oil. Two stroke cars even had one way bearing to disconnect the engine. In carburettor engines this did save fuel, as they usually didn't have any way to cut off fuel when engine was driven beyond idle rpm with no gas (although I've seen some DIYs for Estelle to implement that system) Older ECUs didn't mind, newer usually know which gear is selected, plus I've read somewhere, that some modern engines keep injecting some fuel to keep catalytic converter warm.

This issue is probably caused by thermostat valve, that's quite common issue. Temperature sensor has two outputs, one for dashboard and one for ECU. Without diagnostics, you don't have way to check its readings. I suspect the cause is crank sensor, if it was swapped with replica instead of genuine part, it could fail again. It is one of crucial parts to get engine running, others being ignition module and fuel pump. It could also immobiliser issue, but in that case, it would start for a second and then cut off.

How much time do you warm-up your Felicia?
This was ONLY way to start our Estelle in winter. Oil in gearbox became so thick, that it stalled the engine if clutch was released too quickly.

How much time do you warm-up your Felicia?
Like @Thefeliciahacker says. Just short time necessary to let engine stabilise and go, with very light driving until it warms up. in winter, I started the engine before cleaning windows, so I had at least some heating available once I sat in the car.

Fuel consumption
Most efficient way is to carry as much momentum from road before. Even speeding up, if you go downhill before, keeping it at highest gear possible. Unfortunately, I know nothing about how carburettors are set up.. I guess it's better to keep them at 1st stage and keep from rapid changes of loads, but I'm not sure about that.

Fuel consumption
Wouldn't this mean that actual range should be better than listed? As 42l is a nominal capacity of Felicia tank. It applies to Favorit, too. They used plastic tank, because it allowed better use of volume under rear seats - it was shaped to fill all available space. Steel tank would allow only around 30l of capacity.
-
Fuel consumption
600km range on 42l fuel tank amounts to 7l/100km - that's nothing unreal, I had average consumption on tank between 5,8-6,2, depending on driving style... With 5,3 record on a 150km trip (with a fully loaded Estate). I never got beyond 7l

Fuel consumption
Try to accelerate with gas pedal in about 3/4 - it might sound wrong, but gasoline engines have highest efficiency with open throttle valve - so most efficient way to drive is heavy foot and get to highest gear as fast as possible. Using engine brake on downhills and coasting on straights also helps a lot. 60-70km/h is fast enough for 5th gear, if you don't need to accelerate. At those speeds, immediate consumption should be below 4l/100.

Fuel consumption
That really depends on how long are your trips and where do you go. These engines inject a lot of extra fuel during warm up, so if you go less than ~10km (especially in a city) it's going to have much lower range than if you're going 50km. Speed is also important, once you go over 90km/h, consumption goes up quite rapidly. I had around 700km range on average (a bit more, if I tried ecorun), but that was a best case scenario with 40km trips to work with minimum city driving and no highways.

Rotary distributor to static ignition conversion on a Favorit SPI + fuel pressure regulator
I'm not aware of that - I was pretty lucky to even get Czech one in printed form, as releases were quite limited.

There are still those puny 1.0MPI But N/A are still used on all non-european markets

Petr Hrdlička - man with long career in UVMV (institute for motor vehicle research and development), who also had his hands in development of 1000MB gearbox, 1.3 Estelles rear axle and many other vehicles. His son now works in Skoda in R&D of N/A engines - also participated in development of ABS and EDS systems in Felicia. The book, "V soukolí okřídleného šípu", is basically his biography, with considerable part containing interesting stories from Favorit development (for example, they used Mazda 323 as mule for brake tests). Some parts of the book can be found in various articles in the Internet.

Rotary distributor to static ignition conversion on a Favorit SPI + fuel pressure regulator
It really is Girling, I read a book about Favorit development, where chief engineer specifically wanted variant used in Sierra - It was shortly before asbestos pads were phased out, so Favorit was equipped with larger brakes than it needed (but they are still small by modern standards) That fits with 1993, when many parts were modified and since that point, Favorit was closer to early Felicia.

That's only case of rear brakes, which were adapted from VW Golf. Front ones are actually similar to Ford Sierra, as they are Girling licence. Sourcing original parts is problem, as Skoda supports their models with spares for only 15 years (interior parts have even shorter support).

Ignition modules. Carburettor had external ignition coil, injection one had integrated module.

Yes, I thought that those back containers were some active charcoal reservoirs, but then I noticed, it's fed by fuel line.. Now I noticed there's some sensor on the intake manifold. Maybe some early prototype with Bendix system or something like that? Bosch in the SPI model was different edit:I found a photo from another angle. It's Li/LSi model from Skoda museum - they were more rare than Estelle GLi, so there are not many photos or information - even this car in museum is described as ordinary 136L

Red arrow looks like some ignition module, but different than what was used originally. Orange arrow is a wiper motor. Now looking at black cannister near orange arrow, could it be auxiliary heater? There's also extra hose going to heater box. I found a photo of (probably) same Favorit from a different storyboard - now the engine bay is much more empty

Skoda Favorit Top Gear (1987) review video
This is carburettor. BMM had slightly different airbox and ECU mounted on the left strut tower. Car in the photo was presented at 30th anniversary, so it should be one of early models. Radiator grille is 1987-1991 variant. Edit: what is weit though, are those activated charcoal containers near the wiper motor - SPI and LSe had them, but not standard variant - I'm not sure whether it's some export variant or later modification.

Skoda Felicia Fun
Just that Truckman hardtop is worth more than a standard Felicia

Rear window heater
It's quite common for mirror heaters to stop working - there's a plastic sheet with copper wires on both sides, connection between layers burns over time. Rear heater usually stops working wire by wire, so if it doesn't work at all, it's either connection at window or broken cable to hatch door.

Skoda Felicia driver's side window problem
I meant second "VW" facelift of Favorit from 1993 (modernisation under VW lead - conversion to 4x100 wheel pattern, introduction of SPI engines etc). Before, they had these.

It also distracts me from noises I don't like, yet I cannot find where they come from I'm no audiophile, but I really hated how they rattled and clipped (and Sportline is supposed to have better coaxial units). Some people don't mind that..
