If not Touranzas, then what?
You have fallen into the classic error or not checking the test parameters. And basically assuming summer tyres will be tested at an average UK temperature. It is very true that wet grip at temperatures over 20c is not quite as good, but in UK majority of our rain is nearer 3-15c and the wet grip rating is not based on cold rain. Many tests, (and comments on these forums) have said how wet grip falls off below +10c on many of the summer biased tires. So your compromise is in warm summer showers coming off continent, not UK Atlantic origin rain which is more like 90% the time.

Reducing wheel size?
Generally speaking any tyre called Eco or sport is going to be firmest. And don’t forget that the hardness of tires varies with temperature. So whatever wheels you end up with, I suggest you fit it with all season tyres instead of summer tyres because they will ride must softer and quieter October - March/April. Unfortunately current Skoda wheel catalogue only has Superb mk3 (not mk2), but there are 16, 17, 18, 19 inch wheels for a mk3 https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b

New Tyres for Octavia VRS, slightly bigger on profile size??
Doesn’t the ABS sensors also affect the traction control. If it detects different size wheels front and back, I thought it assumes you have a temporary spare and limits revs and speed.

Current Delivery time for Petrol only models?
Realistically probably better thinking 12-14 months, and not 6-7 months per sales patter. You can always tell if salesman is telling you what you want to hear if you play with the argument and put a test scenario there way, something like saying : so you would be happy to knock 2% off price for every month beyond your highest estimate, if I signed today. Pause about 10 seconds then ask if would like to revise delivery estimate.

Breakdown cover
If you book your service online, I think it gives you a year’s complimentary breakdown cover. It is also included if you buy the all-in-one plan (note this was 20% off in May and August), so if you can wait, and they repeat offer later in year then buy when cheaper

Driving in France
Models with LED headlights do not need adaptors, so if you bought it in error, would take it back to the shop On infotainment, go into car / settings (cogwheel icon) / lights (bulb icon) and should be a travel mode option. If you don’t have that then I think you don’t need to adjust anything. from handbook Adjust headlights for driving in right / left-hand traffic Applies to headlights with adaptive functions. In Infotainment, select the following menu: Or: Activate the travel mode function. Adapt headlights for the opposite direction of traffic - driving abroad Applies to headlights without adaptive functions Seek the help of a specialist garage. Might be sensible to also order a crit air sticker, and remember that certain parts of France now require winter rated tyres at certain times of year.

Mk4 Diesel Vrs first service.
A standard oil and inspection service is £185 per Skoda website. (Some dealers might charge less) . Shouldn’t need the £60 extended scope at first fixed service. Basically is an oil change, checking fluids, checking tyres, and a wash. If there are any recalls or service campaigns they will often get done (but usually have to ask). Might also update software. In other words not a lot actually happens over the checks you could do at home apart from new oil and filter.

If your suspension bottoms ....
The fact that the transit stops were still in means that part of the PDI wasn’t done, but you don’t know how much else they skipped, and what else hasn’t yet been done. If it was me, I would be asking them to sign (that is a Director of the dealership) to sign a statement that no other parts of PDI were missed, or they accept liability for any problems. If they refuse then simply point out that other parts (of PDI) might of been missed so would be better if the do a whole new PDI (and if it costs them money, it is their consequence of choosing not to do it properly first time). If that sounds drastic, if parts of PDI are missed, are you comfortable all your wheel nuts are correctly torqued, or fluids at correct levels etc.

Delivery times?
Don’t know anything about the quality of road surfaces in Slovenia, but if they are as bad as some UK roads with ruts, cracks, badly filled holes then smaller rims will improve comfort. And rims less likely to get damaged or kerbed. However it also depends on the tyres, the Eco summer tyres from the factory are fairly hard, (and very hard as weather cools in Autumn) can certainly change them to softer comfort tyres. With smaller rims ride will be softer, and for most people they are not worried about losing a fraction of a second on lap time.

Vision 7S
The inside reminds me of the science fiction style used in 1960s and 1970s, somewhere between Thunderbirds and Blake’s 7 Skoda produced some good value cars from 1990s until few years ago. Can’t see me rushing out to buy something that resembles a stretched Austin Allegro estate complete with quartic steering wheel

Octavia e-TEC hatch - 1.0 or 1.5?
The other thing is prices have jumped a lot, so unless there is something seriously wrong with your car then consider keeping it as PCP has that option. Can always take out a bank loan to pay off the balance. But in meantime why not get a valuation as a guide price, use motorway or we buy any car etc. Then compare it to the balance you still have to pay. If as an example owe £10,000 but car is worth £14,000 then you could in theory settle the PCP and sell it following day and have £4000 in the bank. If you rolled into another PCP instead, at the very minimum would expect £4000 extra into your deposit over and above any discounts or incentives.

Octavia e-TEC hatch - 1.0 or 1.5?
Firstly the Octavia hatch 1.0 e-tec is DSG, no manual option, it is also SE spec only. The SEL spec e-etc is a 1.5 DSG Basically if want the e-tec, then has to be DSG, officially get about 0.7mpg more with e-tec. Link to brochure below, the mpg is in the technical towards the end of the brochure https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/0bcfc2d5-654f-49b2-a524-91e141293e36 If you want the Karoq, then the brochure doesn’t list any e-tec versions. https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/c63f4efb-a760-4a48-931f-baad88d42aa6

Tyre Wear - Karoq Sportline 1.5 tsi 2020
The clue is in the photo, not the rubber, but the light coloured specs which appear to be some sort of sharp abrasive stone. Unfortunately there are certain councils whose idea of road surfacing is to spray tar and then put tiny non-slip chippings on top. Fine on straight roads to protect crossings where vehicles might skid when braking, but not a great idea to protect tyre life (as it isn’t their concern). I think it has been said before that if you use summer tyres below about +5c (ie most mornings Nov-March) the tyres get very hard and these stones are more likely to dig in, rather than tyre flexing. If they dig in it increases the loading on that point so more likely to scour when cornering. The only real solution is not to use summer tyres in winter if your local roads are surfaced with these top coatings at corners and junctions.

Slow Engagement of Drive - DSG DQ200
I have experienced this on a loan car, one fitted with an electric handbrake. Never experienced it with DSG on cars with manual (ratchet lever style) handbrakes, and have had multiple cars like this over 10 years. My guess is it is something to do with trying to start before it has checked the handbrake, so car isn’t ready for first couple of seconds. Therefore not convinced it is a DSG problem, but possibly a sluggish handbrake mechanism causing DSG to have to wait.

Hello - DSG 7
If it helps, I have had 4 cars with 1.2 or 1.0 tsi petrol engines and DSG-7 boxes The only one that gave some trouble was in a 2012 roomster, and DSG was fixed under warranty at 2 years old, Kept the car for another 7 years and DSG and engine never gave any other trouble. I suspect the earlier problems are no more.

Karoq kangarooing?
From memory virtually all the reports of Kangerooing were on early 1.5 manuals. If you tried an auto unlikely to have same problem as software seemed to deal with it. But a software update was available (but voluntary, so might not be done)

Low profile tyres
If you want official Kamiq wheels 16 inch are Castor, Alaris, Orion, Nanuq (see page 59 of link) https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b 205/60 R16 tyres are much cheaper than 215/45 R18s and widely available in usual 3 seasonal variants (summer, winter, all season). There is only 3mm difference in diameter (which is equivalent to 1.5mm of tread wear) so probably won’t even notice any speedo difference

Low profile tyres
@poolebob you didn’t say which type of Goodyear tyres your car has (I am guessing Efficientgrip performance 2) these are basically long life Eco summer tyres (quite hard designed to last long time). Basic physics will tell you that something that is tough and wear resistant is not going to soft, squidgy and quiet. There are 2 basic ways of softening the ride, as @Carlston has said can switch to smaller rims and deeper tyres (the outside circumference is about the same), or can switch to softer tyre. In general any tyre with sport or Eco in its name is firm. They can actually become very hard in cooler temperatures, and for many wet grip falls off below about +10c, and becomes hopeless as you approach 0c. If you change to all season tyres they will be quieter (and grip lot better November-March) However the 215/45 R18 size is rather obscure so this means only get limited selection of tyres (and they cost more). There are only 3 good all seasons in that size : Continental all season contact; Hankook kinergy 4S2, Vredestein Quatrac Pro. There are some mid range tyres too Maxxis, Goodride etc in that size. Prices vary so which you can get might determine your choice (note all season tyre prices tend to jump mid September as people prepare for colder weather, so if going to get them order soon, even if not fitted until few weeks later)

Disable wireless charger?
My car (not an Octavia 4) has wireless charging, hate it as makes phone hot. I use the low tech solution of two packets of polo mints in bottom of tray and phone sits on top, no more hot phone

I would go bit further than expect a printout, and specifically ask for a printout with before and after readings.

Best for wheel balancing
I think all the fast fit chains have dynamic balancers. The wheel is put on, spun and a computer tells the operator the required weight to use. Of course it does require the operator to actually choose the correct weight from their trays and put it in correct place, and some do not respin it to check now showing zero required. So always best to choose a quiet time when the crew are standing around and don’t have to rush it.

Delivery lead-time
Per Marnet mobility website Enyaq will be at least October 2023, with some options taking longer, so some cars ordered today won’t be until early 2024 https://www.marnet-mobility.de/aktuelle-lieferzeiten.html
