  1. @olduns How many miles in a single trip you do doesn't matter, active regen is forced whenever ECU feels the need, every X-Y miles, so you can do 800 miles trip and just before the end of the journey it will start again. VAG DPF is a very good tool to monitor regens.
  2. Can anyone confirm when Skoda switched from 4 to 5 years for cambelt on 2.0 tdi 170 4x4 DSG ?
  3. Need to do the same - Dec 2014, 35.5k miles / 4 years. Asked friendly garage for a quote - but they said there is no point replacing water pump as mileage is too low and as it is "electric" - I'd have to pay for the "original" as "substitute" doesn't have - if I understood correctly - some kind of flow restrictor that is closed when engine is cold so pump is not moving water in the engine till the engine warms up. Anyone can confirm ?
  4. Search forum - was discussed few months ago and part numbers should be there as well.
  5. @PracticalGoat 5-10 miles - daily/weekly/monthly? Maybe you should think about switching to petrol? Or hybrid / electric?
  6. Do you know what kind of roads car was driven on? You can quickly kill any suspension if you drive like a maniac on country roads and do high mileage on motorways.
  7. @Thedempsey Only reasons to buy saloon would be financial - extremely good deal - or if for some reason you prefer look of the saloon rather than estate. In case of practicality - only estate. Fuel consumption difference would be marginal.
  8. Always only estate there is no point buying saloon. You never know when you'll need the extra piece of loading space. And - for me - Superb Estate looks better than saloon.
  9. What if someone scratches your car when you are shopping for an hour or so? I have 128gb card and can record about 36h on two cameras in medium quality recording is in a loop - 5mins pieces - I don't touch it unless I need/want to save something after 2 years I've ditched battery as well Left the car few times overnight - no problem with starting in the morning.
  10. For dashcam - I've switch connected to the rear 12v sockets my dashcam is ON before car leaves my parking and is OFF when back - with the exception of parking at work as there is CCTV anyway If you connect it to the ignition controlled source - what is the point ? S*** happens at supermarkets or petrol stations as well.
  11. Yes, search forum - there are few posts - even with detailed list of approved sizes of wheels and tyres. Anything with 5x112 PCD, not too wide and correct ET will fit.
  12. I had a pressure error and idle RPM fluctuation for few days right after fuel filter was replaced - air in the system
  13. Fixed or not? Serviced recently - fuel filter replaced? One time only?
  14. @Charade As mentioned by @TasMan - the simplest way to check Software version is to install VAG DPF Android app - it will also help you to monitor regens.
  15. My version is still 5357 - so should be the same as here: https://www.dyno-chiptuningfiles.com/original-ecu-files-database/bosch-edc17c46-532868-76240/
  16. @calumdonaldc 17" is a good compromise
  17. Boost sensor is best accessible from the bottom - tray needs to be removed - located right next to the thick black pipe. You could try to access from the top - but it would be rather one-hand job
  18. Anything with 5x112 will be OK - I've kept spare from Seat Leon - instead of the spray kit that was factory fitted.
  19. I bet washer fluid level sensor is just on/off switch so how would ECU know if it is open/off or missing - or always closed and open when fluid level drops ? So it's rather VCDS coding involved - like with HHC - disabled by default even if module can support it. Or washer fluid level is not checked every time ignition is ON - but only when you try to use it?
  20. Diagnostic Trouble Codes: http://www.aficionadosalamecanica.net/manuales/Vag-codes.pdf
  21. Search forum - depends on control module you have - it can be as simple as using VCDS to activate the option. But, you should do your procedure a bit differently: 1) release brake for a moment then press it again - so S/S deactivates and engine starts, 2) then you can release brake slowly and start rolling - HHS should kick in if activated. Also, with longer stops, you can: 1) move DSG lever to P(ark) position quickly to avoid engaging R(everse), 2) pull handbrake, 3) release brake. Then, when you want to drive: 1) press brake, 2) move DSG lever to D or S, 3) release handbrake, 4) release quickly and press again brake to deactivate S/S, 5) release brake slowly and start driving, or 1) press acceleration pedal slightly - this will start the engine, 2) press brake, 3) move DSG lever to D or S, 4) release handbrake, 5) start driving.
