Insurance for 19 year old on Fabia vrs
lDanl replied to JoeWils's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
That's very very cheap in my opinion you must live in a low risk area My brother is 18 and shortly doing his test, quotes for a 1.2 fiat panda are upwards of 1200 I'm 24 with 7ncb and my Octavia vrs petrol will be 680 this year so yes it's a very good price you have -
K&N induction kit not fitting advice
lDanl replied to JamesT's topic in Performance & Tuning Upgrades
Or heat it up with a hair dryer or heat gun, last thing you need is water in the air intake -

hi all, i have a pretty tight situation my old car which is sat on my grandmother's drive has my private registration but has run out of mot ( i didn't realise it had to be mot'd to reclaim at the time) i would get it mot'd but it will be rather hard as the auto gearbox has failed making it hard to drive, its been sat there for a year so i'm guessing various components may of perished but i think it might need quite a bit of work doing to it in general anyway. Is there any way at all i can get the reg plate transferred?

Oh, one other thing to mention if your considering it You will have a big fight with the pipe connecting to the turbo housing, one of those pressure releasing clips in a very tight spot but then it's extremely well sealed on even after you have got the clip off

I have had it fitted for about 2 or 3 weeks, my mpg has not changed at all, I only do town driving the highest I've ever seen is 38mpg on a clear run to work and yes I bought it for 155 but from the ram air website

isn't automatic by any chance is it? auto's are now more expensive to insure

I have this fitted with a stage 1 remap and I really do think it's improved response and top end performance considerably The way it fits the engine is very nice too using bolt holes that already exist to stop movement/vibration Even though you don't care about sound, it's amazing lol it sounds like darth Vader and has a nice blow off sound even when driving easily Edit : the air filter is closed in by the Heat guard provided and shuts against the bonnet flush with rubber trim

It seems to be playing in your mind so just say you don't have PayPal, your just going to end up panicking over it if you do decide to go through with it anyway regardless if it's legit or not

Not had them on a superb but have had them on 3 different cars one including an estate, doesn't affect the buffeting at all, they don't particularly deflect much wind, they cause quite a lot of motorway noise. the only benifit i got out of them was to be able to have the windows open slightly when it was raining

How important is a main dealer FSH as a car gets older?
lDanl replied to StuartA's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
i would say it's important on any car that has decent value, i tend to sway to the "not bothered" thoughts when coming to 1k value cars. -
Self sourced induction kit for 2.0tfsi? big savings?
lDanl replied to lDanl's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Well here's an update for me, i decided to buy a full ram air induction kit off the site, and i'm sort of glad i did i didn't realise how good the pipe work and how flush the fitting was. To anyone wondering the kit fits perfectly in the engine bay using already existing bolt holes to hold it in its rather a very good way of using the space provided, plus the pipe work is very good quality and painted black for the extra cooling. now to the important part, i did not realise on how greatly this would affect the car in sound and performance, put it this way i was originally thinking of adding a blow off valve now i really don't want one! the noise is incredible, engine roar isn't affected but the turbo noise is just incredible even when the windows are shut! The pull all over the rev range feels better and top end is definitely improved however i think i may need a diverter valve replacement which i have ordered. i am starting to think the kit is priced well, making a kit up yourself would cause so many rattles, so much cutting down and so gluing i don't think you will ever be satisfied taking on this route. -
Pretty much just a very lengthy valet using things like a clay bar and other stuff to get rid of any imperfections, aim is to get it looking like it has rolled out of the showroomNice car by the way

I suppose I could do but I'd much rather eBay get back to me rather than taking direct action

hi all just tried to purchase something on ebay, as soon as i won the bid i had a message from the seller asking if he could immediately refund me and if i could gift him the money through paypal instead so he could have the money straight away. i said no sorry as i have no legal protection if i send money that way, then i had the item, dispatched message. Not one hour later i had another message from him saying he has refunded me the full amount of money because paypal are morons and that he needed the money straight away and was apologetic about it. Surely this was a scam attempt...i have the paypal email saying i have been refunded so im not concerned about that but this surely needs reporting? i have kept all emails sent but when i go into ebay reports i just get sent into an endless circle of automated answers.

This could be it but I'm not certain https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400711939049 Here is a pic of what it should look like on the car https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=2.0+tfsi+engine&rlz=1CDGOYI_enGB664GB664&hl=en-GB&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjTh_nTiorNAhWIJcAKHTVJB0UQ_AUICCgC&biw=320&bih=492&dpr=2#imgrc=ebV8J5PIcJDnyM%3A

Your right with it being the turbo the symptoms you describe are common for all forms of turbo Try not to screw it as you may just let go without warning it's exactly what happened to my old diesel car when I was getting it live tested for a remap, suddenly went from the siren to a big pop, no performance and oil everywhere and a horrific sound that not even the Devils mechanics could tolerate. When I replaced my turbo is was the core that had failed, completely lose from its holding Just try and chug it round for a bit and stay away from boost
-
Just keep yours eyes open for one on eBay or something All it will be doing is allowing more hot air into the intake as usual as partially it will be able to suck air directly from the engine bay
-
It won't do anything bad it's just not as efficient as it should be
-
Yes the air filter located at the rear of the engine cover Whole engine cover needs to be removed then you will see how it is held in with torx screws
