Hard wired dash cam.
If it’s a Nextbase dashcam then the easiest hardwire solution is the Nextbase OBD port power cable as this includes the earth. Nextbase also do a hardwire cable that piggybacks into the fuse box but you have to work out where to get the earth connection.

Noise from both LHS (? top mount area) and steering motor
I was on the VW forum for 11 years prior to getting a Karoq and the advice was to do oil changes annually irrespective of mileage. The variable of long life interval reduces service costs and looks good for companies who run cars for 3 years or less and the next owner picks up the problems.

Bridgestone Turanza All Season 6s on a 2021 2.0TSI
If your able to post a photo of the Continentals when fitted with a tape to show the rim protection to compare with the Turanza 6s it would be useful. Thanks.

Sport Mode
Putting the DSG into Sport mode on my 2.0 TSI does increase the Soundaktor level, with audible blips when changing down, and it don’t arf shift too. I’ll have to experiment with mode button now as well.

reversing camera
Yes it can be swiped away, but if your shunting it comes back every time reverse is selected. The parking sensor display also pops up there too.

How to protect against car theft - push start (skoda fabia) ?
The OBD port crops up on the Mk7 Transit forum where the recommended solution is to relocate the real port out of sight and fit a dummy with wires that don’t connect to anything in its place.

What is YOUR best MPG with the DSG gearbox?
This is quite a critical factor. Brother has 64 plate Yeti manual 2.0. TDI 4x4. At the same time I had a 2,0 TDI Touran DSG. Both cars same VW 140bhp diesel- the Yeti struggled to better 50mpg -the Touran would easily do 65mpg, I did once manage 73mpg on my 50 mile commute home on the M1. Sorry not a Karoq.

Electric Swiveling Towbar retro fit
Towbar prep was not something I could firmly establish from Škoda as being or not being on my car. The Plate with the weights has GTW which indicates it’s homologated for towing. I didn’t need the cooling upgrades (fan and grille changes) it’s a 2,0 TSI so no doubt has them as std. it did require all the wiring cables which suggests no Towbar prep. The delay was for one cable, I have wondered if that was the cable that’s fitted as std for Towbar prep now, which was perhaps why it was in short supply. Total cost was £1740, same price as the local dealer - I’d use Richter over the dealer for any job that requires removing and refitting the interior. It might seem expensive but a 2.0 TSI Sportline with towbar was over the RFL £40k threshold - so it was more cost effective to do a retro fit than buy an ex demo that had been built with the towbar, they are also rare although there was one available at time albeit another 4k over what I paid for mine.

Electric Swiveling Towbar retro fit
I've been expecting to post this summary since early June, but parts on back order delayed fitting until today. Richter Automotive in Milton Keynes had fitted the towbar to my previous VW in 2014 and so I went to them again. I ordered from Richter Automotive, in May, the supply and fitting of a Skoda Electric Swiveling Towbar, identical to what would be included on a factory order. I have to compliment Richter Automotive on the customer service and workmanship. Due to some electrical parts being on back order with Skoda the fitting was delayed by 10 weeks, Richter's Maxine kept me updated regularly and when the parts finally arrived shuffled other jobs around to fit my Karoq in on the first date I could drop it off. Its a big job requiring rear seat removal, rear bumper, boot trim and many pieces of internal trim to route the wiring from front to back. My Karoq was completed by the end of the day, everything was neatly back in place no mess, no rattles, however due to circumstances beyond Richter's control the towbar would not deploy. The CANBUS coding supplied with the towbar to activate deployment when the switch in the boot is pressed was incorrect. They have contacted Skoda/VAG for the correct coding and will come to my home to update the CANBUS coding when they receive it. The exact same issue had occurred with an ID Buzz swiveling towbar the previous week, so I am confident of a successful resolution.

What is YOUR best MPG with the DSG gearbox?
I’m in the same boat. I’m finding mpg is improving as the overall mileage goes up, but it’s only done 3000 miles to date. I can get 50 mpg on a run, but around were I live it’s about 25-30 due to lots of roundabouts linked by 70 mph dual carriage ways. Our Fabia 1.2 110bhp DSG is better on local runs but on longer motorway journeys it’s not really any better than the Karoq.

Unexpected bonus with 19 inch Alloys
Yes it’s easy to use a brush too. My previous car had 16” alloys, our Fabia has 15” alloys - the 19” are so much easier to clean.

Using a roof top tent in a 2024 Skoda karoq sport line
What’s the maximum load capacity of the Karoqs roof bars as I’d have thought that would be important. i don’t think the Sportline rear seats are easily removable unlike the Varioflex seats which are designed to be removed.

Running engine to stop Battery going flat, when vehicle is not used.
I too would have recommended a CTEK charger to maintain the battery, but if mains power is an issue then have you considered a solar trickle charger for example ProPlus Solar trickle charger 12V 1,5W | Euro Car Parts there are plenty of other makes around. The option to remove the battery and put it on a trickle charge in doors is probably not a good ide given modern cars dont like not having a battery connected. Another option is to buy a battery boost pack which can be charged up elsewhere and used to top the battery up periodically without needing a mains power lead. Must be so disappointing to have a new Karoq sitting there and unable to use it. The advice to have the bonnet left open, being ultra cautious myself I would leave it unlocked with a window partially open bit only if your garage is secure.

Actuator problem - told only solution is replacement of entire turbo charger
I have direct experience of the this fault with family members. Cousin has a Seat Ibiza 1.2TSI 2017, actuator fault while still under warranty required turbo replacing as well. Same fault recurred a few years later when the car was out of warranty. Partners sister has a 2017 1.2 TSI actuator and turbo replaced under extended warranty when 4 years old. Both these Fabias are low mileage, typically 3,000 miles per year driven gently, short journeys, never rev’d hard. I believe that is a factor and a weakness with this engine. We have a 2015 1.2 TSI similar annual mileage - two key differences always use Shell V Power petrol and it is driven faster.

Unexpected bonus with 19 inch Alloys
I know that the 19 inch alloy wheels are unpopular with some owners due to the lower profile tyres that they are fitted with. However there is an advantage of the 19 inch wheels over the smaller sizes when it comes to cleaning them. There is good clearance around the brake discs, even the larger front discs. I'm able to get my hand, holding a sponge, in between the 'spokes' of my Vega Alloys to clean the whole of the inside rim including the inside edge. As someone who tries to keep their alloy wheels clean without any brake dust baked on the inside of the rims this is a real bonus. It will save me having to remove each wheel in turn every few months for cleaning.

Further to my original reply regarding volume. There is sub menu accessed by swiping do was from the top of the screen which allows config of sound, includes the sat nav announcements and various other sound related parameters.

Can anyone recommend a garage that could replace a failed Karoq digital instrument panel
Absolutely agree, the designed lifespan should be at least as long as the what it replaceds.

Can anyone recommend a garage that could replace a failed Karoq digital instrument panel
Whilst it is a 5 year old vehicle, how many members in this forum have had to have old fashioned analogue dials replaced? In my 50 years of car ownership I’ve never had any issues with traditional dials - the expectation is that the electronic version would be at least as good.

I have used HazzyDayz in Markyate for retrofits, and they used to refurbish car electronic items. Might be worth giving them a ring.

Update touch the destination to delete and slide to the left a red tab with a waste bin should slide in on the right.

Sat Nav info required
Skoda seems to assume that if you want the Infotainment screen on that you want sound as well, I don't so just turn the radio volume right down. Interestingly this does not turn down the Carplay volume. Deleting unwanted destinations if I remember correctly on the main Nav screen touch and swipe left (or maybe right) and a red delete prompt is show touching that deletes it. There are a ;lot of things that work that way.

Vibration through vehicle mainly above 60 mile s per hour
If it’s a 4WD model then it could be the prop shaft to the rear axle.

First 3 Months with my Karoq
On another thread there was mention of using VCDS to alter the throttle operation - from memory it was something to do with linear and non-linear. Sounds like the newer dry clutch DSGs are an improvement over the one in our 2015 Fabia (or perhaps its faulty) and my reservations are no longer valid.

Karoq ride and noise - wheel size/model?
My brother had 64 plate 2.0 TDI Yeti 4WD and 17” wheels I believe, he says my 4WD Sportline has a smoother ride than his Yeti. I don’t find my Sportline to have excessive road noise or a hard ride compared to the Touran I had previously, but I did have tyres at the max load pressures on the Touran. I guess it’s what you become used to. I drive 3 times as many miles a year in a Mk 7 Transit minibus as I do in my own car, Transits are not known for their soft comfy ride!

First 3 Months with my Karoq
Touran has headrests that slide back and forth as well as up and down. I had a neck injury which means I always have the drivers seat back very upright. Mine was 7 seater with height adjustable front seats. A 7 seater for just the two of us may seem overkill, but the key criteria was headroom, legroom and comfy seats. The Wet clutch DSGs seem to engage without touching the accelerator so creep without any throttle. DQ381 is very smooth at pulling away, because I feel, it doesn’t require throttle it starts moving when the drivers foot comes off the brake pedal. Having said that there are times when auto hold cuts in, s/s stops the engine, then throttle is required to release the brake and move off. The dry clutch DSG in our Fabia, sometimes doesnt pull away or is a bit tardy - pressing the throttle further causes it to leap forward far quicker than intended😧. My partner had no trouble driving the Touran although she did comment that the throttle required a very firm push, so maybe I was just too heavy footed😂 You mentioned the T-Roc, I tried one before the Karoq, with the upright seating position I need the interior mirror mounting created a large blind spot. Karoq has a significantly smaller mirror mounting, the screen is more upright so consequently the top is higher and further away.
