  1. Hit a bump on the road - car was not delivered due to "holidays related delays"... Hopefully, will be collected tomorrow PM. Keep your fingers xed for me :)
  2. Does thar work on regular road grime as well? ;) (I know, it was a terrible pun...)
  3. Aren't these just suction cup marks, requiring some rubbing with IPA or similar de-greaser to go away?!
  4. Philsmith's answer looks right to me for new tires: they expand slightly during initial break-in, resulting in small changes of circumference and rotation speed - the warning goes off...
  5. Got an email from the dealer today. Car was manufactured this week, will pick it up on or around the 28th. Originally: Order placed on Sept 28th, total turnaround would be 13 weeks. L&K 220 hatch, maxed-out sans panoramic roof.
  6. Vixvet, What engine (diesel or petrol)? What transmission (manual or auto)? Does it go away once the engine gets warmed up? I assume this would be a Rapid, not a Superb Mk III (based on your sig).
  7. In the Hungarian catalogue it reads: "added protection for rear swing arms, handbrake cables and brake lines". Nothing about the engine bay though...
  8. IMHO it has nothing to do with sound insulation. It is a plastic cover to protect the engine bay from underside (i.e. stray stone chips and the like, or give an additional layer of protection for the oil pan). Might worth it if you drive on gravel or rutted roads often.
  9. If it is a mechanical pencil that would stick to a magnet: measuring tape with a magnet on the end. If it is non-magnetic: same stuff but with some tacky glue or chewing gum. Try to aim using a dentist's mirror. If you can't see the pencil using a small mirror then it is probably gone for good (or until the next service visit where you can mention it, justifying the case with rattles).
  10. Turn the car upside down and gently shake it?
  11. Had a similar experience with a 08 Mazda 6 - the dog bone was broken.
  12. Battery in the VCDS?! That's a whoopsie... Though I can't see if and how the serial could be verified by the car's systems.
  13. Grenness, what engine does your car have? Diesels usually require a larger battery due to higher compression and heavier internal components...
  14. If your car is still on order maybe you can opt for the "fleet package", which would give you larger alternator and the largest possible battery? Not sure if you have this option in the Norwegian market though...
  15. Just unveiled the new Golf - the Superb will most probably receive the tuned-up TSI engine (242hp) and the new 7-speed "moist" DSG: http://www.topgear.com/car-news/first-look/new-volkswagen-golf-here
  16. Great aerodynamics - especially that huge white front spoiler
  17. /uneducated guess mode ON / I doubt the Superb MK3 has an electric AC pump. If not, then the AC itself won't run until the engine is fired up - i.e. any noise coming from the ducts after switching on ignition must be some kind of electric motor or linkage noise. Quite possibly it is one or more of the flaps in the duct (if it goes away after a few secs) or the fan itself (if it remains on). Auto recirc might come on automatically (ehm, auto-recirc, auto-matically...) when shutting off the engine just to open again once you fire up the car. E.g. this would prevent cold&damp outside air entering the cabin during nighttime. /uneducated guess mode OFF/
  18. ...or were just a bit lazy and simply painted'em over - have yet to wipe the excess off the plate though
  19. OT: TSI 220 LK hatch, "basalt brown", fully tricked-out sans moonroof and Columbus, w/roof crossbars and winter tire set/snowchains thrown in for financing.
  20. MY changes mid-year to mark "model year" instead of "production year". This is typically done during Summer re-tooling breaks. Should these breaks occur during Winters, we'd see less confusion about MY vs PY Since models usually don't change in-between a particular model year, it is reasonable to assign a car built the same way to the same model year. As for the heated wheel option, I believe you can add it until the manufacturing actually begins - I added it to mine no prob (with Duna Auto). You'll have to re-do financing paperwork though.
  21. Got a call from dealer today. Build week was pushed back by 5 weeks - no explanation given. Now it is 2017w1. Originally: Order placed on Sept 28, build week was confirmed as the 50th.
  22. Only thing I noticed in the local price list was the appearance of "heated DSG steering wheel". Until now it was either standard, DSG or heated but not "heated and DSG". DSG = flaps.
  23. You can probably see them but can't remove them. Just turn the wheel to either side so that you can take a good hard look at the front spring/absorber assembly. Either pull up the rubber sock a bit - the block should be visible underneath, or it could be visible straight on the coil. Some reported them being black and hard to notice, though on recent builds they switched to pink, supposedly easier to spot. There were many great pictures in earlier threads.
  24. Aux heater: an additional fuel-burning heater unit with remote control. It can help with Diesel-engines that tend to warm up very slowly (or not at all during short trips). You just fire it up from the distance (advertised as "up to a km") and enjoy a warm car with defrosted windows. It can also run the ventillation (not AC) to cool down the car a bit. Bluetooth: IMHO it can have multiple phones paired but only one connected and receive calls at the same time. Haven't tried it though. Footwell lights: standard on LK here. Don't konw about other trims.
  25. ...also make a quick check to see if anything could melt (chocolate) or go stale or drip through a paper cup (fast food soda) etc.
