  1. Yep the rear on the facelift is a PQ24 and the front is a PQ25 but PQ25 rear axles fit but they sit 15mm wider than the PQ24 axles. One of the main reasons I struggled to get B16s for mine because you can get PQ25 B16s and PQ24 B16’s but you can’t get half and half as it’s not “tuv approved” according to bilstein. Wider rear axle better stability.
  2. Even though the front half of your fabia is a PQ25?
  3. Already replacing parts from the 6 speed swap 🤣 starter motor didn’t like starting when it was hot.
  4. To be fair mine was a 4 speed swap to a 6 speed swap
  5. This is going to be a long post! Finally got to splitting the 5 Speed box to finally see what the damage was and there was nothing left of 4th gear So began the hunt for parts LNK 0A8 sourced from Vee-Dubs in Newcastle Sam Levett sorted me out with driveshafts, Cable ends, Starter, Gearbox mount. My friend Greig sort out a clutch and pressure plate from his Fabia that only had 200 miles on it, Also gave me a spare set of drive shafts, spare set of mounts as well as a the dog bone mount and a gear cable bracket. And Darkside Developments came through with a flywheel, shifter, oil, bolts needed, dust tin , clutch line and slave cylinder Not much was saved from the 5 speed, everything is different even down to the driveshaft bolts were all different and had to be replaced. But its back on the road Testing to see what speeds we get in different gears as i couldn't find the ratios for this.
  6. Probably around £750, still to see if its damaged though
  7. Nah can’t reuse it but hopefully selling it will go towards getting a few one. my mate was able to do it in a few hours. Around half a day but everything was different even down to cable brackets and driveshaft bolts.
  8. Mine's was perfectly reliable, Always maintainced correctly and was definately abused and took it all day long. Just didn't like 263bhp and 400ft lbs in the end which bent 2 rods.
  9. Could probably do 225 but that would be at a push.
  10. The DQ200 would destroy itself as soon as I put it into gear with the amount of torque I have. 4.5k might sound silly but it’s realistic. Exactly traction is the issue even with a diff. A45’s have struggled with it in the past
  11. Then you’ve got things like the shafts, starter, mounts, tcu etc looking at the best part of 4.5-5k
  12. Not when after slamming it into gear you hear a bang then what sounds like throwing a brick in a cement mixer
  13. To be honest if the money was there I’d fit a dsg.
  14. Possibly but nothing will be happening for a while.
  15. No idea but if it gets parted out don’t expect cheap parts
  16. Just ticked over 109k and ive had it since 32k so its done well for 4 years 77k and its life has all been documented Thought were maybe sticking the engine into a mk2 FL Octavia vRS DSG but i want a 4x4 one and they didnt do the 4x4 one but i think with that set up it would frighten a fair few cars off the lights. I have toyed with the idea of a superb estate 280 but i've got a Fiesta ST just now and the fuel economy on that is giving me the fear. 30mpg on a run at 50mph! I've had some good friends and companies that have been with me over the years with this car and a few have offered to help out with getting it back on the road but will still require a fair amount of money.
  17. Not forgetting the mounts are all different on the golf too
  18. Well that's that, looks like this could be the end of it. gearbox decided to let go today, wasn't doing anything stupid just overtaking a truck. Will need to think long and hard if i want to keep putting money into it or not as it will need a 6 speed. No point in putting another 5 speed in it although this could be the end. Did take some good videos and pics of it last night though
  19. Well finally managed to work out why it was eating rear brakes, handbrake cables were stuck on so that was todays job pretty decent fuel economy on the way over too One thing that i also seemed to get asked is 100-200 times which imo i think are utterly pointless because you're never going to be in that range, 30-70, 50-70 is more my thing but i thought i'd give it ago. Gearing is rubbish for it, it sets a stupid quick time 100-190 but then 190-200 takes 2 seconds because you're above 5k and if you change gear then you're losing the same amount of time with the gear change, logs show ecu is telling the turbo to make 2.1 bar and its making 2.4 though Also came across a couple of folk i knew lately and they got a couple of drive bys without meth With meth hence the smoke Was down to my last meth as well and that was quickly used up after meeting a stage 1 golf r and a 700bhp nitrous'd sierra cosworth so had to order some more which should do me a while and some photo spam from pictures ive took over the last few weeks
  20. deffo not a 2 min job if youve got the arm rest lol
  21. Car's been laid up pretty much since the middle of january due to ill health and being in hospital. Took it out when i was feeling abit better, thought it would be difficult to start but fired up straight away. Traction isn't great in the snow though Also noticed that since its been parked up someones managed to fit the nearside rear bumper. was only just painted when it was at darkside last year just when they openned the body shop.
