  1. I think you'd be best to contact them and discuss all that.
  2. Star Performance in Glenrothes. https://www.starperformance.co.uk. I've been using them for 20 years. I might be the end of next month before you they can fit you in but it's always worth asking.
  3. Ahh yes, good point. This will only work with 55mm struts. Mind you, why would anyone buy a 110 PS version in the first place....?
  4. Did it start life as a 110 / 140 / 170? If it wasn't a 170, then an upgrade to 312 mm discs is easy using Mk5 or Mk6 Golf GTI / GT TDI caliper carriers and 312mm discs. If you want more then you're probably looking at a Brembo 4 pot conversion. Again for the rear, there were 3 size of discs, from memory so. it would just be matter of changing them and the caliper carriers. For uprated turbo you might want to get some ideas from Darkside Developments. Closer to home, there's MV Turbos in Kinross. He's been doing turbos longer than anyone I know and seems like a good guy. HTH
  5. As far as I've been able to establish, One Call are the underwriters as well. The fact that they'll only pay £30 an hour for the repair; refuse the £2k quote from our local VAG approved bodyshop which is the one used by local VAG dealerships; have set an arbitrary limit of £1k on the repair, have tried to initiate a 'smart repair' with no understanding of the true extent of the damage, indicates that their claims management procedure is not fit for purpose. There is more but as you suggest...
  6. I do worry about it. In order to maintain the corrosion warranty, vehicles need to be repaired by VAG Approved bodyshops. Equally because VW Financial Services currently have an interest in the vehicle, it needs the same. Our local VAG bodyshop is well aware of the issue.
  7. On the other hand, they work for me. Each to their own...🙂
  8. Can I offer a note of caution to anyone who has insured or might be thinking of insuring their vehicle with One Call Insurance. We're currently in dispute with them over a repair to my wife's Karoq after a deer ran out in front of her. They're refusing to accept the quotation for repair from our local VAG approved bodyshop. They say they're only prepared to pay £30 an hour labour whereas the local bodyshop charge is £60 per hour. They seem unable to provide an alternative VAG approved bodyshop which is not surprising at £30 an hour. Their attempt to send us a company to perform a 'smart repair' on our drive also indicates they have no understanding of the potential for further structural damage under the plastic bumper, let alone the damage to the washer system of which we've already advised them. Removal of the front bumper also necessitates recalibration of the ADAS. Something which seems to be beyond their ability to comprehend. Our experience suggests they are to be avoided.
  9. If you're still driving a BMN with the plastic, flappy inlet manifold, bin it and fit a nice alloy BKD one sans flaps. Then have it remapped and revel in how smooth and fuel efficient it has become. My remapped Mk5 Golf 170 TDI would return c. 52 mpg driven hard on long trips which I thought was remarkable for a car with 210 bhp and 330 lbs-ft.
  10. Very interesting. I've got an intermittent tyre pressure warning light, on the Yeti, that will sometimes allow it to be reset on the button and at other times won't. No fault codes present when it's scanned,
  11. Possibly, although when we test drove a Karoq is was a FWD manual model - 150 TDI I think. As a keen driver, I found it quite light and sprightly and it handled well. I saw the salesman sitting in the rear, grinning. He said, "I don't usually get driven like this on test drives!" I love the DSG in our Karoq. I have the transmission in Sport mode almost all the time and rarely if ever need to use the paddles. Before I bought my manual Yeti, I test drove a DSG one of those and was unimpressed. I find the 7 speed to be much nicer than the old 6 speed.
  12. Pretty much the case. Before the Karoq, we had three 4Motion Tiguans in a row - 140, 177 and 184. We replaced the last one with the Karoq as a Mk2 Tiguan to the same spec was going to be £40k +
  13. We have both a 2016 Yeti SE L Drive 150 TDI 4x4 manual remapped to c 185 hp and a 2019 Karoq SE L Drive 190 TDI 4x4 DSG. There's no contest. The Karoq is by far the more capable car and much nicer to drive, especially on longer trips.
  14. The Albert never looked so good. I used to play darts in there in the late 70's.
  15. I bought a 2106 MT-09 recently and had a local guy take some pics of me on it. If anyone local would like to do the same, let me know and I'll put you in touch.
  16. I suspect that the answer is "probably not" but.... I used to run 16" Audi A3 alloys on my Mk5 Golf GT Sport 170 TDI which has the same 312mm brake discs. The only time I had a clearance issue was when a tyre fitter put a stick on balance weight right where it clobbered the brake caliper on every revolution. I've also got some aftermarket 16" alloys which we used to run on my wife's previous 3 VW Tiguans which, again, had 312mm discs, without any clearance issues.
  17. I'd suspect a master or slave cylinder issue. It might be worth having the fluid changed and see if there's any debris in it.
  18. If you're looking for a company to remap your car, I can thoroughly recommend Angel Tuning, Scotland. https://angeltuningscotland.co.uk/?fbclid=IwAR2AUwnge1wZ1CgeM3aQaw-jbL1t6Mev16mH90oXBekLAMHGz5FPnDPsfQg
  19. Certainly, the graph is hardly precise. Apart from anything else, the before and after power and torque curves don't cross in the same place. The curves always cross at 5252 rpm. However, even in Mode 7, they only claim 310 lbs-ft of torque. My old Mk5 Golf GT Sport 170 TDI made a dyno tested 330 lbs-ft with its Angel Tuning remap and never a hint of clutch slip.
  20. Well that's manky, so clearly not. How. many miles on the car? This was the state of the gauze strainer on our Karoq 190 TDI at c 20k miles...
  21. I'd be interested to know which two dealerships these were.
  22. I suspect that they did, indeed, say ODIS.... Offboard Diagnostic Information System. VAG dealer level diagnostic software.
  23. I see three 190 TDI's on Ebay. We bought a new one in late 2019 and we're still very pleased with it.
  24. VANOS is not relevant here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VANOS
