  1. My 2015 Superb Mk2 is on original Discs and Pads at 42k miles (DSG too so brakes used a bit more than a manual).
  2. Octavia had almost 1000 miles on the clock...so had been used as a non-demo, demo car
  3. There was one test drive - an Octavia at(my usual dealer) where I wasn't allowed to go far - the sales exec said it was because it wasn't registered yet (true - no plates) and they didn't want too many miles on it or they'd have to pre-reg it and sell it for less.
  4. I wanted Velvet Red on my Superb...but refused to pay £900 for a bit of paint...so went for Black
  5. Lightning doesn't work via MDI - just get "This accessory is not compatible" however standard iPod connectors and USB worked fine with mine.
  6. Definitely not a Skoda thing. It's a dealer thing. Our Skoda Dealer let us take multiple test drives (around 30mins long each) on a route I picked. Each dealer has different insurance (as to whether sales staff must go with you or not) so depends really. I would certainly ask for another (longer) test drive. Or as others have said, ask to loan a demo car for a day or so.
  7. Does the MK3 not have this? My MK2 does! Seems we may be going backwards in time
  8. Just had email from Dealer with initial Build Week Details: Build Week 13 (26th March) So if all goes well, the new 'Perb should be with me beginning of May
  9. I have a Thule one on my Superb Mk2. Works very well (its only a 2-biker), tilts, and locks in place with a key. Just ensure that it uses the correct number of Electrics Pins, as the Thule is a single 7-pin, but the Tow bars skoda usually provide are single 13-pin. I had to get an adaptor from amazon (about 10 quid). I don't think you'll have any weight issues, unless you properly load your car up and then put bikes on (I have done this on the superb) and going up/down steep slopes can cause the odd scrape from the back end.
  10. Ha! Yogi, love the name! Is it a Brown or Black Bear?
  11. My 2015 Superb Mk2 Starts within a half crank. Whether I let the glow plugs finish their warming or not . On one occasion as it taken a second or so to start - and it had been sat for a week without use in cold weather (airport car park). I dont have keyless though. It's done 42000 miles.
  12. My SEL Estate is Diesel, which already comes with the 7-speed DSG (confirmed by dealer). I think it will just be a long 7th for motorway cruising.
  13. I've ordered Black Magic Pearl in my SEL - It was either Black or White (We've got a Quartz Grey Mk2 at the moment and I didn't want that again). Never been a fan of Flat Grey...Looks like a battleship
  14. Pity I couldn't wait until After June to order mine - would have liked the Digital Dials
  15. Theres lots of reasons Start/Stop doesn't work In our Superb Mk2 - the main reasons are : Heated Seats / Air Heating on, Cold weather outside (below 4 degrees C), car not running very long, Heated windscreen on (I know this is an option on Mk3 Models). The reasons above are because those systems are dragging too much battery current and its a protection system to prevent battery drain. After a good motorway run, it should kick in automatically.
  16. Saw the Velvet Red it on a Karoq in the Showroom (Bickerton's Sheffield), and I thought it would look good on a Superb Estate and if you have a Seat Dealer near you, is VERY similar to their "Desire Red".
  17. Sounds Awful... Stump up for Velvet Red...it looks lovely in the metal (it's what I wanted but OH wouldn't let me fork out £900 for a bit of paint )
  18. Having driven Skodas as big as the Kodiaq/Superb, down to a Fabia, it doesn't feel that bad in my opinion. If you want relative comfort, I wouldn't go any smaller than a Rapid/Rapid Spaceback. If you do mainly short journeys, then you could consider a Fabia sized vehicle. Theres CarWow, DriveTheDeal, and LingsCars that do pretty good deals. I've never used any but heard good things about all of them. Best thing to do - is test drive as many as possible That's the only sure fire way of knowing if you can live with it for 2-4 years (depending how long a lease you want)
  19. To be fair...they searched "superb towbar" or something and it was a top result
  20. We are about to Swap our 1st Motability vehicle (my wife uses a wheelchair) - a Superb mk2 Estate. It has been the best vehicle we have owned yet (not counting the fact it's fully maintained etc). The biggest hassle we've had is with Kiwk Fit for the tyres. We've just ordered a Mk3 Superb Estate (order gone in today by the dealer - build week TBC). I wanted Velvet Red - but Skoda told me that we have to pay the £900 fee for that paint which is what Motability have agreed with them. Not sure I'd pay that much for a paint finish if I were buying the car let alone, a 3 year lease...but it was Scrummy in the metal. In the end we went for Black Magic Pearl . The only downside is the deposit costs are getting quite high. We paid £2745 (plus £750 for a tow bar) in 2015, however the cost for the equivalent spec (SEL Exec 2.0TDI DSG) is £3145 (plus £775 for tow bar) this year. Even the sales lady at the dealer said, she isn't sure how they calculate the up-front deposits, as they don't make sense.... a Karoq is £3750 in Edition Spec, as is a Kodiaq, I know which I'd choose (it isn't the Karoq!). I believe that motability customers get a slight discount on Auto Gearboxes vs Manual, but its only something like a few hundred quid (whereas they are approx £1200 for the DSG if purchasing). We justify the deposit, by saying it covers the insurance for both of us, and maintenance for 3 years, so the deposit effectively is us paying up front for those items. I have to say, after looking round, Skoda seem to be the only dealers we have dealt with, that "care" for their Motability customers. We went to Seat (the Alhambra was very tempting, but is getting a bit long in the tooth - and Seat aren't planning on replacing it at all), and their Sales team were average with a few broken promises, doesn't say much for their Customer Service. And Citroen, were atrocious - and didn't seem to care about anything other than you signing on the dotted line.
  21. In the past 3 years of driving a Motability Superb 2.0 TDI Estate DSG, the Sales team, and Service team, have been excellent, being able to provide courtesy cars I requested, and carrying out work as required. I haven't had to pay anything as it was (a)under warranty and (b)a motability vehicle, but they are always polite. I have never dealt with their service manager so can't comment on that. When we collected the car in April 2015 - they had put on the wrong number plates (not even similar to ours). Luckily I noticed and advised our sales advisor who rectified it straight away. They didn't put any fuel in though :( - however, never having a brand new car before, I didn't know if they did or not. Ordered the next one from Bickerton in Sheffield...review of them once I pick up the car
  22. My Mk2 Superb with Bi-Xenons got this when we first got it in 2015, it has since mostly gone, and it only appears after using the car on a cold/rainy day. Hopefully it will be a nice day when we pick up the Mk3 so it won't be too bad on there!
  23. I have always had good experience with the Local Skoda Dealer. I always request a courtesy car - no charge - just replace the fuel you use. And usually if you drop off early enough, you have your pick of the cars they have on the loaner fleet. I've driven an Octavia, Rapid (both hatch and spaceback) a Fabia and a Yeti. The insurance excess tends to be £1000-£1200 but I've never had a crash. I've used the loan car to drive to Manchester and back from Doncaster, and they've had no problems with the mileage done. Audi used to do the same, but also offer a charge of £35 to remove the excess.
  24. Possible I suppose... and sad if its true! Likely the 2.0TSI will be replaced with a lower powered engine to meet the new emissions regulations.
