  1. try: https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/ Have your VIN handy.
  2. M6 Toll is the same - treated as if there is no speed limit.
  3. It's common to most cars. 70mph on my Octavia is 67mph on Waze. Trucks have pretty accurate speedos because of the tacho.
  4. I use Waze a lot via Android Auto, and their speed limit info is very good.
  5. I haven't been to Wales yet, though I can see it across the Dee from here!
  6. Many thanks, @MartiniB Euro Map 1 downloaded, expanded to SD Card and in operation. New maps show 20mph zones but they are incomplete with several still displayed as 30mph.
  7. The text on the Duracell packaging is French and what looks like Israeli. (****.co.il) Go figure!
  8. So I get in the car and the warning "Change key battery" appears. Feeling smug and well prepared, I go to the man drawer and there is a new unopened packet of 2 Long Life 2025 Duracells. A quick flick with a screwdriver opens the key fob and a handy nail flips out the existing battery. It takes a few minutes to open the annoying Duracell bubble pack, but the new battery is soon in, and the key reassembled. I get back in the car, and the "Change key battery" appears again. Strange, I thought, but car started OK and off I went. I get back home after a 10 mile journey, get out off the car and press the fob to lock the doors. Nothing happens. I try again. Nothing happens. I put the key in the ignition and the warning "Change key battery" is still there. Must be a dud battery, I think, but that's very unusual. However, I do have another new battery, I'll use that. I open the fob and take out the battery which falls on to the table. I see a red sticker on the underside. "Harmful if swallowed". I removed it and reassemble the fob. Car doors lock and the ”Change key battery" warning has gone. 🤦🏻
  9. I have a 2016 Octavia and gave up on the local dealers because they were expensive and generally, as you say, not very helpful despite free bacon butties. I use a local independent who are great. (New tyres, brakes and suspension bushes next week. £££? ) However the maps at the Update Portal should be fine, not least because they not the latest, despite what they say!
  10. Agreed. If the battery is below about 50% power capacity, then the car's system will shut down what it considers to be secondary functions. For example, cruise control, stop/start, Bluetooth. A new correct battery will re-start all these functions.
  11. Agreed. Plus there is live traffic info, which Skoda et al no longer provide. Waze is useful in that users regularly report stationary vehicles in Lane 1 of so-called smart motorways which have no hard hard shoulder.
  12. https://www.lightmare.org/ Have a look at this before you proceed.
  13. The phone is connected by both BT and USB to the Amundsen. However media is cut off once the phone is connected by the USB port - I use a 32Gb SD card (next to the SatNav card in the glove box) for personalised music and podcasts.
  14. Your contacts and other dialing options appear.
  15. Check your phone's USB settings - I had a similar issue. Changing the USB setting to "Use USB for File Transfer/Android Auto" sorted it for me.
  16. I have activated Smartlink/Android Auto and use Waze. Waze is useful for giving notice of cars stopped on the roadside, especially on motorways with no hardshoulder. Waze routing can be unusual, to say the least. This house isn't Apple friendly either, having had too many negative experiences.
  17. Thanks to all in this thread for their contributions, Android Auto is now up and running. The OBD Eleven Pro was a bit ponderous, requiring patience, but both AA and Apple CP were activated relatively easily. My previous experiences of AA were such that Google Maps appeared instantly the phone was connected via the USB port. In the Octavia I guess the car's version of AA was older and doesn't override the phone's USB settings. I had to select "File Transfer/Android Auto" manually from the phone's USB options for full access. _______________________________________ OBD Eleven Coding Procedure: Module 5F > Adaptation > Vehicle Configuration > Apple DIO > On > Googled GAL > on Save.
  18. Where did you get it from? Amazon UK?
