  1. You could drain all the oil out of the Haldex and it would not come to any harm, it would not function but would not be harmed. Some people frequently get holes mixed up, there may be laws against it when it comes to anatomy but they can still indulge themselves in the workshop, drain the diff oil out and in most reported cases it has gone bang after a few days/200 miles without warning.

Definitely because they will not have removed the pump to clean the filter that does not exist on their planet.
  3. That has to be one of the best ever examples of "seeing the bigger picture"
  4. Thanks for the confirmations.
  5. I am replying nonetheless. I did not suggest, clearly or otherwise that you were lying, you chose to interpret my words in that way. I did say that you had an attitude which your subsequent responses confirm.
  6. I did not state any facts, I said that to my knowledge its been standard for 20+ years, I did check my knowledge within the limits of my knowledge before posting Its called reflection. I may have been ignorant about yout two Skodas lacking the feature but I was not wrong about your attitude that you continue to display very clearly. Anyone else have a Skoda without the feature?
  7. Are Kwik-Fit on the right idea? By probability they must eventually get something right one day but not if it benefits the customers wallet they wont. I am with TMB. And in this instance they are talking out of their backsides not that I had to read what they said but I did check anyway.
  8. In this instance given the attitude displayed I wont be apologising for stating what was my knowledge and experience, something that I am unaware of is not obvious to me. They havn't confirmed that they dont have the rotary delay control switch, does anyone else have a Skoda from the last 2 decades without time delay adjustment on the intermittent wipe function?
  9. Understood, I will change the signature to Yeti Outdoor and add some punctuation
  10. Me neither, 3 people have posted a desire to change the display & they all have spoken of their Maxidot displays, 2 of them adding photographs of it. I have a Maxidot display.
  11. Its not an option, to my knowledge its been standard on all Skodas for at least 20 years, Are you saying that you dont have the rotary control marked "A" in the diagram? If you have auto-wipers with the sensor behind the rear view mirror it adjusts the sensitivity to rainfall and not the delay although I think it reverts to delay if the auto wipe function is switched off.
  12. Will it let you go back and record services that you "ahem" forgot to record before? Do you have to fork out €7 each time you update the service record?
  13. I get the odd bit of straw getting into the car and maybe the drivers seat being dirty but how the hell did the rest of the seats get like that? Did they get the horses to back into the car to wipe their ar5es?
  14. Presumably beyond my competence and equipment?
  15. Is there anyway to enable this but for kms to be displayed? I have a RHD car & drive in France, the speedo does not have km/h markings but the speed does show amongst the other data on the maxidot display, the trouble is that its not really prominent enough and with my compromised vision I find it hard to read the small digits especially at night. Of course there is no way that I would be able to read any secondary km/h markings were the speedo to have them
  16. If you garage had anything other than a £15 Ebay OBDII code reader then they would know definitively if one or more glowplugs were outside of limits, find someone with VCDS, it will be much cheaper and painless than relying on the guesses of a garage.
  17. Starts fine when cold but does this when hot yes? Then depress the clutch & it starts yes? Its the stupid software that wont let the engine start when hot unless it reaches a minimum cranking speed. Whilst your battery is probably good for many more years as witnessed by the cold starts, replacing it will probably resolve the problem, before that I would clean all the battery, starter & engine earth connections. No fault codes coming up on a generic OBDII reader yes? - Get VCDS!
  18. The MK1 headlights werent up to much but the halogen projector lamps on the MK2 took useless to a whole new level, 35w HID conversion after a lot of tweaking of the level improved mine a lot but they still were not great, I believe that the voltage is dropped to extend the bulb life, they definitely give a weak yellow light on the H7 bulbs, and that it can be increased using VCDS. When I saw that my Yeti had similar halogen headlights I thought I would need to upgrade but they are in fact a thousand times better than the MK2 Octavia, they really must have spent a lot of effort trying to develop such useless lights.
  19. Brriiingggg bub-bub-bub-bub-bub-bub............. Thats the sound track that you hear through the oil haze A nice quirky motor!
  20. Impact drivers tend to work against themselves when it comes to countersunk fasteners, they require the turning moment but the axial force from the impact makes the fastener even harder to undo. To be clear, I am talking about the old fashioned hammer type and not a cordless impact wrench which would probably do a good job, I cant be sure because its one of the tools that I have yet to purchase.
  21. And that steering wheel centre pad looks to have been debadged, no "airbag" text, an accident just waiting for a bus stop full of young children and fluffy pets to happen! The stickers have been the only thing holding some of my cars together!
  22. Earths plus check the wires physically under the grommet where they enter the tailgate/hatch.
  23. Or a centre punch sharpened to an acute angle is my preferred method, I used to have a special small cold chisel with I think it was called a diamond point head which was very effective, it basically had one bevel like wood chisel and a 2 stage side rake angle, bad description but I know what I mean I would love to be able to replace it.
