  1. I do mine every weekend with Mr Sheen. It keeps a nice slippy gloss on them........πŸ™‚
  2. On my Octavia the rear wiper gives a wipe about every 30 seconds as you drive along (forwards) with the wipers on normal, not intermittent setting. It's quite well judged.
  3. Hmm, decided to answer my own question....! Just borrowed the plug in voltmeter and been for a 40 mile run in the Octavia. The voltage ticks along at 12.5 volts for much of the trip but ocassionaly rises up to 14+ volts as the alternator decides to kick in. So I'm thinking the Volton isn't suitable for my car.
  4. I'm looking into how to wire up a rear dash cam............ The Volton PCT ZR1220 looks ideal, but will a 2019 Octavia have a "Smart" alternator that only cuts in periodically. I have a voltmeter in her A3 and it shows the smart alternator only cuts in intermittently in daylight (ie no headlamps on). The voltage can be down around 12V with the engine running. Would the Volton think the engine was stopped and switch the dash cam off...?
  5. My missus has the 1.5TFSI motor in her A3. We haven't had the kangaroo problem and it's a very nice car.................. For her..........😁 She's off work ill at the moment so I went in it today, save getting mine out the garage..... It took me about the first 10 miles to get used to how "underpowered" 150hp really is.........πŸ˜› I would go for the 245 any day of the week.... Don't worry about the fuel consumption (mine does 40+mpg if anyone cares). In 15 years time you won't look back from your electric box on 4 wheels and say " I wish I had got the nice sensible economical version of the Octy." Let your heart rule your head, that's what life is all about...! . .
  6. Aha......! Just found an Audi 12v socket cover in the draw from her A3. Off to swap it out with mine.....! And they're a tenner on Ebay, so I'm chuffed...!
  7. Gorgeous............... But wow......43 grand ! No wonder I like it...!
  8. As per another thread, I hardwired my dash cam this weekend. After faffing with the damper for a lifetime ( I've no patience, it was 10 minutes really) I taped it roughly in position and found I could easily get my finger up the back of the glovebox to latch the damper onto its clip thingy.
  9. To have done that sort of mileage in 3 years I'd hazard a guess a lot of them were motorway miles ( unless you know to the contrary eg Taxi?). Has it got FSH? I'd factor in for timing belt & tensioners etc, water pump, filters including fuel filter, possibly a set of brakes plus anything obvious you can see eg tyres? If the price is right it might be ok...??!! .
  10. I did mine today. I used the Nextbase hardwire kit. I used the space allocated for Fuse 48 which is for Blind Spot Assist, which I don't have and is ignition switched. It was a bit of a tight fit but manageable (see photo's). I connected the negative to a handy bolt and found a spare nut in my trinkets tray so didn't even have to undo anything. I bought an imitation Stealth Mount off Ebay for the camera, just to tidy things up a bit. As has been said above, the glovebox damper proved impossible ( to me!), no matter what screwdriver I tried to poke the damper back on with I couldn't. Then I used a bit of tape to hold the damper roughly in position and found I could easily poke my finger up from behind the glovebox and latch it on! Job done in less than hour. . .
  11. Does the girl in the pink top work at Skoda or have anything to do with it.....?? 😍
  12. Not in mine no, when I blew the fuse neither socket worked.....
  13. My insurance against timing chain failure has for over 40 years been to change the engine oil and filter frequently. More frequently than the manufacturers recommend. On every car in the family. Yes I've spent more on oil than some people, but I've never had problems with a timing chain.......
  14. Do you have a part number or link for the under bonnet insulation? The only stuff I can find is for the pre face lift, nothing for a 2019 model, I would like to do this to mine as I agree, it looks naked without it...!
  15. The sun visor drops to the vertical position and then the bottom tip will push forward a couple of inches before it touches the camera, as the camera is hanging quite well forward of the sunvisor, if that makes sense...! My 245 hasn't got lane assist and it shows as a Β£400 option on the configurator.....
  16. I've just fitted my Nextbase cam, but it's only a cheapy, I have my 412 in the motorhome... The sucction cup seems to grip onto the shaded part of the screen fine, but I haven't got lane assist..... .
  17. Job done. It just looks and feels so much better. Why on earth didn't they do this as standard........πŸ˜• .
  18. Early adopters. Those few people who will like the size or shape or the fact that they have a local dealer or something. After they've creamed off that small section of the market, pricing will get more competitive. Well, it will if they want to shift any.....
  19. The problem is that over the years I've owned BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Saab, Toyota, Ford, Vauxhall, Seat , Land Rover etc etc. Some have been ok, most noticeably probably Ford (!), but over the years I've had faults on most brands..... If I knew with certainty where to take my money to enjoy fault free driving I would do.....! .
  20. I'm assuming the Β£80 per month relates to a part of a leasing or PCP deal so there may be a wider picture.....? But if you've seen a Volvo you like go for it....!! There are few prizes for brand loyalty nowadays unfortunately.....
  21. Just ordered the parts for my FL 245 Estate based on ahenners excellent guide on page 3 (thank you!). I've bought the struts off Opie Oils using (a different) forum discount, and the SGS ball joint thingies. I've had a "test" undo of the parts under the bonnet first. That's next weekends projects sorted, I've got some wire on order to hard wire my dash cam as well. Best go and clear the garage ready now.......πŸ™‚
  22. I do a 35 mile round trip to work each day over welsh mountain A & B roads. I bought the 245 Estate because I wanted more than ample power for overtakes and I carry work kit in the week and the dog at the weekend. I wasn't bothered about fuel economy, I'm in my 50's, my wife works full time & the "kids" are grown up and financially independent, so I just put fuel in it and don't actually monitor consumption at all..... But at the start of each journey a message comes up on the dashboard telling me the average consumption ( and speed, time etc) of the last journey. This is consistently around the 43mpg mark. I don't know (or really care) how accurate that is but if it is reasonably accurate then I consider it outstanding for a car of this size and power etc driven reasonably enthusiastically (but sometimes within speed limits πŸ˜‰). Finally I payed a lot more than Β£22k for a new 245 Estate in my colour choice from a local(ish) dealer so if you can get a zero miles(ish) one for 22 and you like the colour/spec etc I would snap it up........πŸ˜ƒ
  23. I would guess the OP has bought a new car and got the dealer to swap his private plate over, my dad used to do photo's like that....
  24. My 245 was collected new on the 4th of May. The two service for Β£159 is detailed on the invoice and the Skoda finance literature. A sweet enough deal ............
  25. Hmm.....I quite like that.....😐
