  1. Just to add my own experience to the comprehensive photo instructions above for anyone fitting a dash cam. Sitting in the front passenger seat, open the glovebox. On the right hand side of it the bottom of the damper is visible. The visible end of the damper is latched into the snowman shaped hole. Push the bottom of the damper away from you, towards the engine. It will click into the bigger hole and then can be pulled to the right to release it. The glovebox will then drop down to the bump stops. I found gently prising them to the side with flat blade screwdrivers was easiest. The glovebox drops down out of the way then giving you access to the fusebox to do your wiring........!
  2. Just to round the story off..... Just had a phone call from the dealer, they have found the wheel nut, apparently they were removed for security over lock down, and they are going to post it out to me ( I live 50+ miles away otherwise I would go and get it!). Cheers all.... Phil
  3. Ha, yes. I was getting ready to jack the car up and take the wheels off to paint the hubs in silver hammerite and had got two trolley jacks already, took the plastic bolt covers off, and it's definitely got locking wheel nuts !
  4. Yes thanks, it seems to be just the locking wheel nut missing. Yeah...I will keep an eye on the oil....
  5. Yep..! I guess for now it's call Skoda roadside assist, it's their problem ! Will just have to keep my fingers crossed for now until a replacement arrives...
  6. Thanks ! I haven't yet checked the tyre pressures but whilst the car was on flat ground in my garage ( for fitting the dash cam), with warm engine, I dipped the oil, which was half way up the dipstick, so I've topped it up to the max mark..... I collected it on Wednesday and I suspect that Covid issues possibly distracted them from a less than perfect transaction..... But I am happy with the car, it is much better than I was expecting. I only swapped the Octy because I was bored in lockdown, but I am actually quite chuffed with this Karoq....! .
  7. I've just taken delivery of a new Karoq Sportline 2.0 TDI on the 19" wheels. 1) There is no locking wheel nut and I've been back on to the dealer and he is going to try and find one for me. The car has the optional full size 16" metal rim spare wheel. If I had to use this do the wheel bolts from the alloys fit, or should there be a set of different wheel bolts does anyone know please..? 2) It came with two keys. My Octy had three. I didn't think much of it at the dealers but just read on here about a Karoq owner with three keys.. Should I have been given three keys ? Thanks in advance for any help !
  8. Ok, just fitted my dash cam with the help of all the great info on here.....! I've fitted my Nextbase cheapie model using the nextbase hardwire kit out of the Octy I've just sold. Like in the Octy I've used a piggyback fuse in the empty slot of fuse 48, which I believe is the blind spot monitoring, which I don't have. It is ignition switched. The glovebox was far easier to remove ( or at least drop out of the way) than the Octavia, the instructions on here and to be fair in the owners handbook are quite good. I found I could prise the bumpstops out of the way carefully with a couple of flat blade screwdrivers and the damper pops out as per the "snowman" suggestion above. Took the side panel with the passenger airbag switch in it off and routed up the door rubber. All in all about an hour or hour and a half. I've used a fixed mount to stop the sucker dropping off periodically !

  11. There is a way to do it, I've done it on mine, pressing the trip button or something whilst turning the ignition on........ Numerous videos on You tube etc....   12. If I was you (!) I would follow the parts list on page 3 from ahenners. I did, and it all fitted perfectly, job done in a matter of minutes.....😉
  13. I don't really want to hi-jack the thread and start off about electric cars, there are plenty of boring threads about electric cars out there.   14. After CV is over (if and when it ever is) I hope the last thing the government is worrying about is the production of ICE cars. The urgent issue will be jobs and small businesses.... The move to electric cars will happen smoothly enough ( we have several EV's in work)..... .

I found the Capri's to be ok for traction unless you deliberately set out to make the rear wheels spin, which the 2.8 would do with ease..... but I had a gorgeous signal yellow Mk2 RS2000 custom on 205/60 x 13 Yokohamas. In the wet it just spun it's wheels in bottom gear no matter how careful I was ( not very at 19 years old !)
  16. I haven't got any tips specifically, but I can say it is a fantastic car. I have owned well over a hundred cars and this one has made me feel like when I had a 3.0S Capri and then a 2.8i Capri back in the early eighties. It's a beautiful car to drive with masses of overtaking power. I almost like catching up slower moving traffic on the way to work....! And I find it nicer to drive then SWMBO's Golf which was more expensive.... I think you will love it....!

  18. As said above the mileage is virtually a red herring...... 5000 miles through central London and anyone could wear a clutch out. 5k up & down the M6 and there should be no wear. And obviously the driving style, heavy starts, riding the clutch at lights etc etc. Get it changed and look after it, it will last you forever...!
  19. I have always done my own oil & filter changes, even under warranty. I would prefer to know that a brand new decent make filter was on the car, rather than a surreptitious wipe over with a rag by the apprentice to make it look like it has been done. And as for the oil, goodness knows what the apprentice actually puts in, sure, your invoice will show the correct stuff but our friend the apprentice will have poured in whatever drum was open and handy at the back of of the workshop, will he go and find a new drum of the correct stuff from stores or just use whatever is easy to hand, after all, he's keen to get it finished and join the rest of the crew on break.... Am I cynical......yes. And as above, I think it's a flipping one use plastic sump plug, around a fiver on the bay for the last one I bought ( for a Polo GTi). But on my VRS they were offering a service pack for £159 so I've done that, the cars on a PCP after all and I won't be keeping it, it will be an EV next........ Ah well, no oil changes to worry about then....!

Allegedly there are minor changes to the engine, although I suspect the change of spec relates to emissions and upselling at service time (!) rather than the minor mechanical differences, but have a read of this...... I found 0w 20 Castrol on the bay at a sensible price and use that to top up our two 245's......... .

  22. Whats best for the car, without a shadow of a doubt, is an oil & filter change every year....... But variable servicing was invented for accountants (and cheapskates!) overseeing fleets that they change regularly. You seem to imply yours is going at 3 years so it is generous, decent and sympathetic of you to be bothered......

  24. And I bought the service pack at the time of purchasing new, two services on interval servicing for £159. The third service, if I don't do it myself, would be at the dealer, for the "stamp", but a basic service, at 3 years and a day, to get the special price (£179). I can then change an air & pollen filter myself with quality parts from Carparts4less for almost nothing! That takes the car to four years old and I've spent £338 plus £26 (air & pollen priced today). Equals £364 in routine servicing in 4 years. I will sell it then with FSH (but a service due). To me, it's a stunning bargain........? .
