Mib3 Map Updates 2025.02-06
Why 7zip is preferred as that during the unzipping process other programs can slip in that off character that destroys the integrity check. It has to unpack exactly the same way as it was zipped. Notice MartiniB lists of two different European files in the above. The fix that helps some people is here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/532756-mib3-map-updates-202502-06/page/3/#findComment-5970567 However, this might not be your issue. Presentation of the files exactly as expected is the key and you don't get any help from the unit if it doesn't read them. Unlike Mib2 standard, you can't pick and choose the internal files and mess about with the download. It just won't take it. The files are signed as a package, and that package is what it's expecting as it does that audit.

You do also get other issues if its not that. Some zipped files un pack at the wrong level so that pdf shows how it should be. Failing that you do get other issues which @MartiniB be has mentioned in the past. Basically the unit gets stuffed so you update the map with a previous history one then it takes the update. Weird. I dont have mib3.

Mib3 Map Updates 2025.02-06
If you look at the attachment on post 1 of here I attached all of the Vag pdfs on how to do it https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/updating-the-inbuilt-mib3-satnav-offline.472408/#post-5030964 Vag sites loose some of the information as they reorganise the site. The Skoda map update pdf for mib3 is there. In the thread I reproduce MartiniBs map file links. Nudging it to start is covered but it will just pick it up once you push ignition then the process starts off. Similar to mib2 high map update it has a restart point if you turn off the ignition before its completed. So all of those on and offs sum to 40 minutes or so but get extended by the overlap time of the update. The fly in the ointment as mib2 high is that the unit will do a signature check on the integrity of the files on the USB before it will actually kick off the update. It wont say you have failed the integrity check, just wont do the update. The integrity check is failed if you dont present all files as required as per the pdf. No being clever. No edits. No nothing. No Macs. If you do use a Mac use CleanMydrive to remove Mac garbage from the file once the files are in the drive. Macs put some funny carriage, return line feed combination on to the files. The integrity check will look at the signature on the file do it's own thing and say these have been messed with, but won't tell you that. So file presentation is crucial and has to be exact. Some old 7zip programs can give an issue so updating 7zip is useful. The built in File Explorer of Window 10 / 11 can be used for the unzip. Another source of issues is not using exFat on the USB people have bees in their bonnet and want to use NTFS, dont. Another issue can be the use of usb a to usb c (anyhow the oval one) adapters. Some adapters are not fully wired for data just power. Why the Skoda recommends their Skoda one. Cupra recommends a Cupra badged one. Cheap ebay ones may not be fully wired. If you do need to use a USB a connection, get a reversible pen drive that has both on it or read the advert and make sure it says fully wired.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026
They are twice a year on the official release as per your weeks. November and June but the files are produced before that then if you are lucky the brands website will show them. Vag and their map production suppliers Here Maps (mib1, mib2 high, mib3) and Tom Tom (mib2 standard) now have their map production streamlined. They have to have it streamlined for the monthly mib3 connected services update. Thus I believe why we saw the November releases months ago way before November. They sat in the fileservers but not wrapped in a web page. It's just how it is now except at some stage mib2 might not be supported but we'll see.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026
Yes the next release will be June 2026. MartiniB has everything uptodate on all his map links. The individual brand websites may not. It's always been like that. The map files are common and universal across the brands, but the brand website may not reflect the available files since nobody has updated the website. It's like library books of old where they have a new book in, its out the back but they haven't put the stamp page on it or the protective cover but you can still read it.

I'd stick to MartiniBs links. Been using the EU1 one for some time. No issues. Nothing missing.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026
I've done a SeatCupra resource on this with links to the software and the radar databases https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/resources/uploading-speed-camera-safety-camera-user-pois.12/ That link provides the details and is linked by the person who wrote the program. It's covers the VAG group MIB2s or less. Some people don't do it like this and obtain knock off databases pre imported to the VAG export file structure. The problem with this is you don't know the source and timeliness of the radar data. The PocketGPSWorld ones you do. Elsewhere on this board people will be using the knock off ones or paid a European company for the VAG file. Pocket GPS world ones: https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/subscription.php On your last one we are talking Mib2 here. If it's not mib3 it's not this. Skoda took out their links to the POI import, as did VW on their website. Seat never had it. You had to use the VW in German web based solution otherwise. Then that was pulled, I moved to Poinspector for the job to do the work of taking published POI files (industry standard GPS file structure) and getting them into the unit. As said there is an Excel macro driven one but Poinspector is more finished. It does handle Mib1 and RNS whatever before that.

Amundsen Mib2 Map Updates 2026
On the first, no. Mib2 allows you to identify POIs in the Vag import format for the system. It does have a feature to warble to support radar camera location but you either buy these pre prepared or do your own importing radar POI files via software to create your own POI import file. Poinspector is one such program I use. You can find it on a Google. Bit like hard work setting up the proforma but once done its easy enough to update. There are other programs. People have an Excel macro driven one. Poinspector being a proper app allows you to zoom into the POIs showing the map position of the POI. You can enter your own POIs and an old Skoda trick I was told which I use is to import my own POIs then save as destinations once shown on the map. Doing that you end up with your own destination library and a blob on the units map. It makes the unit look like a normal traditional satnav. Thus holiday stops etc you routinely use you just mark up or can search for them. Obviously it does take some work but once done you have it. The likes of Google map POIs are hit and miss. Finding car park location with street view, getting the location then importing it to the unit gets the precise place. Car parks for hikes wont be on Google maps. Back to radar pois there are fixed and mobile ones. You can get the location of these but the mobile ones by definition move. Really you need traffic sign recognition (TSR) then the need for radar databases is minor. Only if you want to break the law between cameras. TSR is the way to go. Pass on voice. Mib2 high I believe can do it but I never use it. You press the button and say something. Hit and miss voice recognition isnt something you want in cars. I did try out Seat early mib2 high software app ahead of mib3. I wasnt impressed. That gave you Alexa. They then withdrew the app from the Google playstore. These were Vags early experiments in marrying the two up.

Mib3 Map Updates 2025.02-06
Unlike mib2 there is no hacking of the unit. Odd files have been found which when run compromise the unit. Yours might be one of them. Given there is zero possibly of unpicking these system if you do a firmware update thats fallen out off the backend of lorry you can get stuck. A previous owner might have done their own firmware update. Vag are trying to clamp down on DIY firmware updates. Yes you might find someone that can get you out of it. But you have no need to look at the meta file and then saving them again you will be compromised by the signature check. This is why vag clamped down on DIY firmware updates. Map updates you can do and are supported but as said not on the very first firmware releases of mib3 in all cases.

And you have to accept that the software can track you else you won't be othered firmware updates / be able to install them. Where people in the past went "dark" and then never got any updated. Failing all this and anybody else's advice you might have to take out a connect services license and dealer assistance to get things going.

Mib3 Map Updates 2025.02-06
Well its either presentation issues of the file, format or that firmware bug that was on mib3s. Are you in an area with connect services. Even if you dont pay the license you do get periodic firmware updates but must be logged in as primary use and accepted all terms. You might then get a firmware update other than that you might need a dealer.

Mib3 Map Updates 2025.02-06
You might have one of those difficult units or file presentation issues. Early mib3 units didnt allow you to do your own map updates without a firmware update. It might be that. Basically you put the USB into the unit correctly presented and if all goes well it will update after being powered up for 60 minutes or so with on and off restarts. People like the usbs with the flashing leds so they know there is activity. If you were hoping to see something happening immediately it doesn't work like that.

Suggest the second link in MartiniBs top post which seems to be a revision. Mib3 is however a bit fraut with issues. You can follow up MartiniBs forum link he's posted. Important to all of this unlike mib2 standard you cant poke about with the files and edit them. Presentation is strict. Not to use a Mac or if you do CleanMyDrive. Recent copy of 7zip etc. That was one solution once. Built in Windows 10 or 11 file manager can be used to unzip but slower. Then the USB formated in exFat. Over to MartiniB.

Mib3 Map Updates 2025.02-06
That's a Mib3 issue. Possibly the answer is on another thread. Normally with MIB units, you hang onto the on/off button till a reboot of the unit occurs. The screen refreshes. Reverting to the home factory is a bug that you read about. Think it's a common issue. Whether the reboot will straighten it up pass. I'd have thought it possibly had reset itself. Factory resets I'd keep off. Better thread elsewhere I reckon for this.

Columbus Map Update 2026 (MIB2 HIGH)
& results screen. No issues: I noticed that. Discussion on one site about GPS jamming where they lived and the pros and cons of car v smartphone. The car came out better... probably since the GPS aerial is better placed on the roof, better choice of providers. Well if you do invade somebody else's country but its them doing the jamming 🫣. Had it once close to the Syrian border in Jordan but we also got picked up in a 4x4 with machine gun mounted as you do in the back. Rough travelling on the foor of one of those pickup by the Jordanian army. Taken back to the check point, passports checked and released. The hiking book took you close to one of their installations, sensitive areas, gave up with the Crusaders Cave walk 😂. Using OpenStreet on the trip. Anyhow without GPS you have to turn round and go back or face getting lost.
