  1. Out of interest then are cornering fog lights legal? I've nearly lost count of the number of curbs I've run into when turning because I didn't see them - Let me think - Ah yes, None, but somehow the manufactures convince us we need a new super feature to differentiate the new model from the old...
  2. Put my winter wheels on today so cleaned both sets, just time for a quick wash and dry then Demonshine spray - which takes only a few minutes if its clean. Also did the wife's Fiesta so I wouldn't get any grief.
  3. Probably a fairly easy job to add a 12v socket somewhere, just a piggy back fuse from the fusebox and an earth. Quite a few people fit one in the boot when there isn't one as std.
  4. It probably does a bit, where it really works is when the wheels are turned a bit, so pulling out at a junction, or onto a roundabout. Much more power down before it attempts wheelspin and pops when giving it some.
  5. Mine does this, changes it into things I type regularly. Hmmmmm. Yours did Licking Butt.
  6. Very nice looking car. Hope it goes as well as it looks. Just configured one, £34k. Cannot justify it, much as I'd love to.
  7. VRS_White_Hatch replied to a post in a topic in Škoda Kamiq
Honestly, don't get too worked up over it. It's not great when it does work. You'd have to try hard to think of a circumstance where it would be useful. I got it working briefly, and used it twice. Once getting it going, and once showing my brother. A smart phone does most things better.
  8. What are the std ones? I noticed the other night how puny they are when reversing in the dark and rain. I think brighter bulbs would help.
  9. Everything has to be somewhere.
  10. I had to get Smart link enabled by showing ID and proof of ownership at the dealer - although most of the staff had no idea, one guy was the expert and I had to see him - for me it's a waste of time. Never used it other than trying it, I certainly wouldn't pay a subscription. Car play or Android auto work, they provide enough options for most. I thought I might use remote locking but never did.
  11. I would think you could find your way home from the end of the road though ... Once I'm on familiar turf I always stop route guidance. I don't like valet parking or anything where you hand your keys over to some spotty yoof to drive your car, but it's a simple enough precaution to use a near bye post code just in case of key theft, the Wanderer is right. If I dropped my keys which include the house keys, and someone just pressed the remote and found the car at least they wouldn't be able to drive over and wander in.
  12. I was recommended Aquapel on another forum - as used on airline windows. I'd say it's no better than Rain-X but more expensive. I'd not remove the rear wiper though. It works far better on the front screen as others have said, airflow. I must buy some Rain-X.
  13. Nice. Though I wish they did a vRS Scala, I'd be very tempted. A 4wd pocket rocket in an ideal world. Bet you can't wait.
  14. Find the fuse number for the hazard lights, they always work without the ignition on.
  15. I've bitten the bullet and decided to change them, 4 x Dunlop Sport Maxx (with 2 X's) Black Circles offer on Dunlop takes it to £323 fitted. Not bad I think. Hopefully a bit quieter too. Tyre Label: Booking Reference: Tyre Details: 4 x Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 2 225/40 R18 Y (92), Reinforced Fitting Centre: Fitting Date: 05/11/2020
  16. They are down to about 2mm, a bit slippy now esp in the wet, and noisy too. What do you do about rim leaks - is it something tyre fitters sort?
  17. I think a slow puncture in my Summers has hastened the decision to fit, but I'm really tempted to change the tyres anyway. Might book in for a set of Dunlop Sport Maxx RT because they are a good price and show low road noise. Pretty sure my winters are Continentals, bought the wheels used off this site and they are in the shed under some old curtains at the mo. The car was quieter with the winters fitted so tyre noise must be a big contributor to how poorly sound insulated the Octavia sounds.
  18. For my first service at 2 years old (my DIY oil & filter change, pollen filter change and air filter change don't count) Skoda want £287 or something. For that they'll do an oil change and maybe get someone to give it a quick wash and vac. Much as I'd want the warrantee I'm starting to think I'll just DIY it again and take my chances. If it goes pop and isn't covered I'll just have to pay up. The money saved by not dealer serving my households last 5 cars under warrantee will probably more than cover it, if not I'll just have to put it down to experience. I just cannot bring myself to pay this much dosh for an oil change. I do have the funds to replace the car it's not like I'd be screwed. Am I tight? Yes, sometimes. But although I don't mind spending I like some value for money, and I just can't see main dealer serving fitting into that criteria. I've looked at Independent VW service and was quoted £200 plus vat, so very little diff and they wouldn't put it onto any electronic service records. I'll have to buy coil over removal tool at some point, not done a petrol car service with them fitted yet (that required a plug change).
  19. Remove the bodies from the boot and take another picture.
  20. Claying is really easy and the paint work feels really smooth - people describe it as like glass, but actually it feels much smoother than most glass. The amount of contamination you remove is a bit of a shock if you think your car is clean. Just order some ebay clay, you know you want to. For clay lube I use Demon Shine - its just a quick detail spray, but a 5 ltr bottle is £15 so very good value.
  21. Must be an age thing, but a wire and bulb sound easier than coding to me!!
  22. Carparts4less although owned by ECP usually slightly cheaper 3 for £27 sounds a bit better than the dealer to me. just realised that's a 90% saving!!
  23. I just replied thinking I was on a forum about my wifes car sorry!!
  24. Same here, petrol obvs. If economy mpg is your aim go diesel. The petrol is nice to drive and better for someone like me who does a lot of short trips and the occasional longer run. I switched from diesel partly because of DPF issues on my last car.
