Dirtiest bit is at the bottom so gets to soak longer?

Tyre Safety: 5 Year Rule
If you do a thousand miles a year you need a bicycle, hire car or taxi instead of a car (and changing aged tyres, spoiled fuel, DPF problem etc) I think unfitted tyres stored in the dark and kept cool keep a lot longer than an unused car with sunlight (UV) degrading them - and that's without the vehicle weight causing flat spots, which was apparently a really BIG problem back in cross ply days I'm told - I'm not quite that old...

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Oh come on you jumped in panic buying 98 rolls wasn't it? And you say one sheet is enough so that makes you look even sillier than before!

Tailgate will not unlock (unless left for a while)
I had my tailgate button replaced at less than 3 years old (so under warranty) But as I couldn't open the tailgate as that switch didn't work it made no odds if the car was unlocked by the fob.

Towing trailers feels down on power.
A 190 diesel should have no problem towing 350kgeven with 2 passenger and a boot load, and if you usually have that load then just adding a 350kg loaded trailer shouldn't make any difference. BUT as 350kg trailer is equivalent of 3-4 extra people, and if the 2 passengers are large and the boot full of lead/gold/uranium/heavy stuff AND you usually run solo then you might notice a difference. You might also check that the trailer wheels spin nice and freely off the ground - though I think it's an unbraked trailer so shouldn't be an issue. 190's are indeed rated to restart quite heavily ballasted flat bed trailers up a slight hill, but that figure is more to do with traction (so 4x4 is best) than the safe towing of a huge sail area/wind catching caravans - not that this applies with a small trailer.

Front Grille replacement
It is all about protecting the radiator as these are expensive. A bit of mesh gives protection, and putting the colour on prior to install is easy, and just flashing of paint on a radiator doesn't protect the fins in any way, even if it is this and not clogging the fins, and a pre-coloured radiator is just as vulnerable and way more work to fit.

Front Grille replacement
The radiator looks really exposed to stone strikes in that picture!

Map updates - Again!!!!
The (1) means it's identical, do it again and you'll just get (2).

VCDS options on Superb III
You 'flash' the stalk for 1 mph faster steps, press tip switch to slow by one mph, 'indicate' for 5mph increments - up is faster and down is slower- first to nearest 5, then every 5mph.

Lancashire driver walks away unhurt after flipping his Skoda
Given the top gun comment up thread then the "I'm a superstar I'll over (re) act" is a possibility, as is just plain old vanilla 'gung ho' (AKA oh $%%^%$) - this was also just called stupidity when I was a lad (yes it was a while ago).

New Cyclops road junction!
Oh come on not that old moan, Road Tax was abolished in 1937, vehicle tax is chucked in the general tax pot, and anyway what we pay for vehicles is pollution based, and bikes don't pollute. I'm all for taxing all vehicles at say £1 a kilo, so pushbike about a tenner, so how heavy is your car? Be around £1500 for an S3, still fancy taxing bikes, thought not.

Boot wil not open (Superb SE Business hatch 2016)
My estate had this and it was the boot microswitch that was knackered, swapped under warranty for me. You can poke a screwdriver into a slot from the inside of a (folding seat) estate but I'm not sure if that helps on a saloon?

Getting rid maybe; grab what you can
Remember only work to live, never live to work. You're in I.T.? then in that case you can probably do some stuff while travelling - it's not even a new thing working from (motor) home, despite what has been happening just lately.

Getting rid maybe; grab what you can
Adulting, good new word! However bumming round Europe isn't really being adult in most peoples books - I can however recommend it 😉 pretty much had 10 years doing it when we both dropped out of real life. I'm damn sure touring will do you the power of good, be it in the UK or Europe.

Superskoda
I think if you've had acknowledgement then you still have hope! Perhaps they are waiting on stock and haven't 'bothered/rememberd' to tell you? If (Tulseface) spam folder doesn't have missed emails then it could just be a case of poor customer service as it's only just over a week. I think delivery within mainland europe is a lot different to UK items, and probably much worse for awkward items? My bumper protector was in a massive box, could have got the bumper in it!! I once paid someone with bank transfer BUT to a wrong account number (my fat fingers) and that took time to sort out even though I flagged my error straight away - Oops

Pot hole rejection letter
Since the council can set their own schedule it's nearly always no win as they can say that an annual inspection is enough, or within 6 months after a report - so if they have patching crews on a 6 monthly rota they'll never pay a dime out!

Superskoda
I had an order delayed in Germany according to the tracking, but it was actually 'lost' in parcelforce in the UK and once PF managed to get my details from SuperSkoda it turned up next day. Don't give up if it's shown as been despatched and moved to a GLS hub, it will appear in UK and PF should be able to forward it, I waited 21/2 weeks for delivery.

UK government plan to make rental e+scooter legal on UK roads.
I think the approval will be in effect to make them the same class as (electric) bikes, so on road (supposedly) and helmet optional as with pushbikes - and lets face it less than an inch of foam isn't going to stop more than a scratch (or cars/rucks/planes would be built of polystyrene).

MOT Covid-19 extension
New MOT will last a year from when issued, or up to 13 months if you get it done a month early. Mine had an extension avaialble exactly like you but I had it done as usual to keep it in line with registration/tax date for ease of remembering, also had it done now to avoid the rush when normal MOT's are due and the postponed cars need doing. If you wait to December the MOT centres will be busy with standard December MOT's, plus June's postponed MOT's and then it's Xmas and New Year!

Picked up my car today.
I have a white 6 speed manual one too, mine has mudflaps, rear bumper protector and a westfalia detachable towbar added from standard.

Caravans / towing limits advice?
My S3 2L 150bhp manual estate is a 'poor' match with that van (90%). Experienced tower's may go to 100% though I wouldn't even after 20 years of towing - seen too many in bits. My caravan is an 85% match but is just 1385kg loaded, it's old a Bailey 2004 Auvergne 4/5 berth, the rear 'dinette' used as a permanent bed with custom matress (not daft cushions). New vans are getting very heavy, nothing newer appeals to us, yet, and other than not having a seperate shower we aren't really missing anything. I'm not sure £60K is enough for a MH with a Citigo as well, is that Hymer dealer still up at Clifton on B'Pool/Preston Road - seriously stupid money they were! Most advice is to rent before buying as it's an expensive mistake to make jumping straight in. Satellite systems for caravans when built in are silly money, you only need a sky dish and tripod (+reciever) for the UK and most of France, in Spain you'll not get a big enough dish inside a caravan, all the ex-pats in winter share a rented 8 foot dish with neighbours, most dishes have an octo (or is it octa?) LNB so 4 vans can plug in and record, or 8 just watching live, Spanish sites ofeten have dish feeds, or sell you hookey IP TV for UK stuff.

Caravans / towing limits advice?
Anything over 750kg is usually braked as it means more cars can tow one, all caravans of any size will definitely be braked. Most caravan organisations recommend that the caravan only weighs 85% of the towcar so that 'the tail doesn't wag the dog' Up to 100% may be allowed but is car/engine/model/driver specific. Note that the towing limit of the car is the weight of the flatbed ballasted trailer the towcar can restart up a 8% (or 12% depending on maker) slope, so is really only a traction figure, it doesn't account for the massive sail like qualities of a big caravan and the joys of that in a side wind, passing articulated lorries etc 🤢 Anyone who took their driving test after 1998 will have a limit of 3.5T combined weight unless they take the +E trailer entitlement test. Doesn't look like your car/caravan is a match from this site:- https://towcar.info/GB/index.php No exact match for car, or caravan, but it's looking very unlikely with the Grande 650 (lighter?) being too heavy and that's with no luggage (poor loading is what puts cars on their side and all your knickers and socks in the central reservation along with the remaining plywood from your caravan). Find nearest similar car and correct the suggested weight on website (from door plate - likely not much difference) same for caravan just adjust figures for 2019 650 grande to what you have.

Helicoils
It'd have to be taper, intermediate and plug tap to get a helicoil in a blindhole, but it is the debris that needs removing to stop problems with the final fixing picking up tapping crap, be that aluminium that will gall (seize) or iron that would rust. Spit is convenient and works after a fashion, being basically thick sticky water, but any handy oil for steel, and usually paraffin is good for ally. Or proper Rocol tapping fluids if you've deep pockets!

Front wheel turning while in neutral?
J.R. are you saying a car in neutral is really in gear?
