Starting issue 2.0 TDI CR 2018
That explains a lot. 95% of my journeys are by way of motorway.

Intermittent Sluggish Start / Delayed Crank - 2.0 TDI VRS
If the Stop-Start is still working well, it is unlikely that the battery is at fault. The Stop-Start seems to be the first symptom of a duff battery long before any other issues become evident.

Starting issue 2.0 TDI CR 2018
Dumb question alert... How do you know when a regen has taken place? The only clue I have is if the fan continues to run after I've stopped the car.

Intermittent Sluggish Start / Delayed Crank - 2.0 TDI VRS
Could be the battery is on it's way out. A non functioning stop-start system is often an early sign. You could also check the cold cranking voltage is within limits ( can't quite remember what the minimum is but I think anything below 10v is not good )

Software Updates - How to Check?
Thanks Varoom, I don't have a VCDS scan to hand, it's at home on my other laptop. Will post that later. Software Updates - How to Check?
I got my car second hand in July 2020 with 79,000miles on the clock. Its now up to 140,000 miles. It's only ever been to a Skoda dealer once since I bought it which was for a "Health check" immediatley after I got it. I pointed out that the driving 'Mode' button was ( and still is ) inoperative and was told that it may need a software update to fix. How can I tell how many updates have been applied to my car and how many ( if any ) are likely to have been missed since my ownership began?

Rear Brake Discs & Pads change - Battery Life
That is excellent news. I've read a few posts which indicated that the laptop should be in constant communication throughout the process and that a battery charger or similar was needed to ensure the car battery didn't go flat. As & when the rain stops I'll investigate what's needed to complete the job and may post further questions if I get stuck. Thanks

Rear Brake Discs & Pads change - Battery Life
I will be changing rear discs and pads shortly and as such will need to have my VCDS plugged in for the duration so as to correctly re-set the parking brake limits. I've read that there is a recommendation to have the battery hooked up to a charger, or similar, while doing this to ensure that It doesn't go flat while i'm doing it. Is this battery charger requirement a bit excessive? My battery is only a couple of months old and would hope to be able to complete the disc & pad job in about an hour or hour & a half ( I'd crack off as many nuts & bolts before removing anything to ensure no unforeseen hold-ups ). A bigger concern for me would be my laptop battery lasting the distance.

Replacing discs with brake pads
Have you checked that the nuts are not in fact plastic covers? Pop them off and the proper nut is underneath which your wheel brace should fit.

Need a new battery.
I put one in my Superb a couple of months ago. Works perfectly and I believe was the original OEM Varta from new. I did have to code from 65ah to 68ah though.

New purchase - SOS issue again
Way too much tech in these cars.

Heater Issue (Urgent help)
Top man Danoid!, just tried this on my Superb and have now got heat & fan back in the footwells again.

Wheel bearing?
Could be this....

Cold Feet
Noticed yesterday that I'm getting no heat in the footwells of the car. Windscreen & dash vents are both working fine when selected but I'm getting nothing in the footwells. The tell-tale light on the selector button illuminates when pressed but it seems the message isn't getting through to adjust the flap configuration.

Glow Plug control unit issues
Ridiculous price for a relay!! Many years ago one of the ABS relays on my Citroen failed and I was quoted similar price from main dealer to supply a replacement. "Common fault, can't be dis-assembled and not a serviceable part" they said..... Mmmm, really? Took it apart, removed the rotted-out pin and replaced with a blade from an old fuse. Cost was ...er £0.00. More in line with the topic, all the glow plugs on my 1.6tdi were replaced @ 50k miles. This was before my ownership so can't offer a reason as to why but presumably not too an uncommon event.

Skoda Octavia 3 Glow plugs
Previous keeper of my 1.6tdi had all 4 glow plugs changed @ 50k miles. No idea why.

Garage costs
Sounds reasonable. Belt, pump, tensioner, plus full service cost me £865 a couple of years ago at an independent.

No ignition lights on dashboard display.
If it's anything like my VCDS the ignition needs to be switched on for it to communicate with the ECU.

Drive-Tec, Any Good?
Hi, I need to replace my rear brake discs & pads shortly and was wondering whether anyone has views/reviews on quality of DriveTec products as sold by GSF. Substantially cheaper than Brembo options. I'm not a racer or a rallier Thanks

Fog lights
Should be banned!! Too many people use the rear fogs when not needed and then forget to switch them off.

Air Con - Sour Smell
Had this problem early summer this year. Tried the 'Bomb' method but other than making the car stink for a couple of weeks ( some people like the supposed 'new car smell' but I don't - I have a problem with Fabreeze also...puke. ), the underlying smell of sour feet remained. Root cause was stale water trapped in the A/C system somewhere. Cure for that was to take a good run out for 1/2 hr or so with A/C on MAX, ie max temp & max blower. Probably need your windows open for this as it gets very hot. This evaporated the water in the system and is now smells good as new. The earlier Bomb probably helped as well but was not a one-stop fix.

Will my car die if I replace the battery??
I changed mine a few weeks ago. Tried to piggy back off another battery but gave up as space was a bit tight & +ve cable clamp was hard to secure firmly enough. The alarm went off during the change over. Switched ignition on & off a couple of times which seemed to fix it but not really sure what I did that caused it to stop. Was able to partially code-in the new battery but could only to change the Ah setting from 65ah to 68ah and the manufacturer to Varta ( no serial no. on the new battery ). Noted at this point that the old battery hadn't been coded at all! Had a load of error codes pop up once finished but these disappeared after a run out. 99% of memory settings seemed to remain intact with the exception of the dipping passenger mirror when selecting reverse. All infotainment settings survived.
