No problem, I'm glad some people find it useful hopefully! I think a lot of people recommend Bilstein B8 shocks to go with the H&R springs? They were out of my budget though so mine have been fitted with the standard shocks at the moment. I think that's fine to do and the car genuinely rides and handles better than standard 😁 That's exactly how I understand it yes 😊

Here's my experience with lowering my VRS... I'd definitely go for a VRS if you can. Much better looking and even though I've never driven a 'normal' one, I imagine much much better performance aswell. Economy is amazing too, I've averaged 47.6mpg in my nearly 2 years of owning mine, and it's remapped. I took this on the weekend of mine Vs a 'normal' one Not that it's all just about looks of course...

I have P-Zeros on the rear of mine and Goodyear Asymmetric 5 on the front. The roads are awful where I live and I regularly smash over pot holes and wonder how my front wheels are still attached. Car is lowered too. Never ever damaged a tyre though

This is going to sound a bit stupid, but I'm sure I had this error (among a few others) last winter when I hadn't used the car for a while because of lockdown etc... and basically just charging my battery solved every single error. To be fair to my local Skoda dealer, I phoned them up and described the sudden weird collection of errors so I could book it in for them to look at, and they said straight away just charge your battery. They said when your battery voltage gets too low, the car disables certain non-essential features to try and preserve the battery life, so yeah might be worth giving your battery a charge before you look into it any further

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well. I am basically writing this post because I had wanted to improve the stance of my VRS since I bought it (18 months ago), but I'd always get put off by the thought of ruining the car and then chicken out of it. I didn't want to spend hundreds of pounds trying to make it look better if it was going to be scraping over speed bumps, the ride quality was going to be worse, the handling was going to be worse, I wouldn't be able to fully load it without the wheels rubbing, etc, etc... but so many people were seeming to do it without any issues, I thought bugger it I'm gonna do it too! Well all I can say is, if you are currently thinking of lowering/wheel spacering your VRS and you have the same reservations I had.... just do it! It's the best thing I've done to the car. Okay, maybe the pedal box & remap were the best thing, but this is definitely up there! The car looks so much better, ride quality is much improved in my opinion (even my wife agrees, and she hates cars and the fact I fiddle with them all the time ), and I'd say it definitely handles better. I'm so so pleased with the results and I urge you all to do it if you are thinking about it. Lowering springs are H&R 40mm and the wheel spacers are H&R Trak+ 20mm at the rear and 10mm at the front. Probably could have got away with more on the front, but I was being cautious and wanted a fully functioning car on the awful backroads around where I live. So this is the car when I bought it... And this is it after lowering & spacers... The difference is so subtle, yet massive at the same time, I love it! Here's another shot before lowering and spacers... And then after... Here's one where it had been lowered, but I hadn't put the spacers on yet... And then after the spacers ... And from the front, this one is with the car lowered but the spacers hadn't been fitted yet... And then with the spacers fitted... I'm so so pleased with how it turned out and I hope this puts your minds at ease if any of you are thinking of lowering but are unsure like I was. Any questions just give me a shout PS - You can still load it up and go to the tip no bother too!

This is what it is on mine but I am yet to solve it. I just know that whenever I've been to the tip or got my seats down...no rattle/creak while the seats are down. Put them back up and it comes back

Hi SunsetZed. It was Sinclair VW in Neyland, Pembrokeshire. Infact, I've just got off the phone to them now after booking the car in for alignment again as I've just had H&R lowering springs fitted. They quoted "£114 if it's as straight forward as last time I had it done, or it could go as high as £171 if things are more complicated". So yeah, I'd say your quote from Skoda of over £200 is definitely a bit steep!

I have got adaptive cruise control and I 'only' paid £115 at my local VW dealer for full alignment and centering the steering wheel as it was over to the left while the car was driving straight.

Interestingly, I had emailed H&R enquiring about spacers before I posted on here and they replied today saying that their wheel spacer specialists recommended 10mm front / 15mm rear for my car. I'm not sure what that recommendation is based on really because I've heard of lots of people saying they could get away with 20mm on the rear, yourself included. Decisions decisions!

Brilliant, that's awesome to know Where did you source your longer locking nut from and did the original plastic bolt covers fit over it from before? Were your front spacers that came with the bolts H&R Trak+ also? Sorry for all the questions

Nice to hear you reporting no scrubbing on the rear Have you ever had it properly fully loaded or just 3 people in the back say? Are your 20mm spacers on the back the type where the spacer bolts to the hub first, then the wheel bolts to the spacer? And are the 15mm ones on the front the type where you just need the longer bolts to go through? You haven't got any pictures looking down the side of the car by any chance have you? Would be interesting to see Thanks mate!

Yeah I had a measure of all the badges on there and none of them would.fit the backing plate on the grille of mine, so that's why I decided to just modify the original one in the end

Thanks @CookieMonster87 and yes you're right - I do have black badges, all bought from Kopacek. Well, you mention the grille badge, that's the only one I didn't buy - I actually made it myself on mine just by sticking some hand-cut bits of red vinyl onto the original silver grille badge, as I thought making the silver black might make it look a bit too lost on the black grille... Still can't believe how much difference those teeny tiny bits of vinyl make to the overall look of the car. Goes lovely with the callipers ...

I've got these lights from Kopacek (Super Skoda) and I have to be honest and say when I first fitted them I thought they were quite ridiculous and actually thought about removing them. But...I stuck with them and now I love them I was a bit surprised at how big the light units actually were, and also the fact that they are transparent (I didn't realise this before I ordered them) instead of being actually red in colour like the originals... The one on the passenger side door was always originally making me think my wife had left something on the passenger seat in the corner of my eye, because there was suddenly this weird silvery object there, but I can say I'm used to it now and no longer notice it. The red glow is much much brighter than the original lights and does give quite a nice glow... Here's another pic when it's fully dark. I think the night-mode on my phone does make the red glow appear a bit more 'crazy' than in real life... And just incase that wasn't enough, here's a video of me opening the door... Ignore my laughing in the video, this was back when I thought they were ridiculous. So yeah, but of a shock at first and for a while I always thought something was falling out of the car when I opened the door but now I'm used to them I'd definitely highly recommend them

Yeah mine makes this noise and it's completely normal unfortunately. I've heard other Octavias making the same noise when I'm in the supermarket carpark or just generally out and about, which was quite reassuring back when I was first told it was normal and they all did it. Annoying, but at least it's nothing to worry about

Hi Towelie, thanks for your reply. I've had a look at your car on your profile and it's very nice! Are your wheels the same offset as the standard Xtreme alloys do you know? I've been trying to judge what width spacers I can get away with on the rear (and front) of mine by looking at people's photos but to be honest they all seem to have pretty random results. Someone posting a photo saying they've got 12mm spacers on the rear and they look further out than someone saying they've got 20mm and that is with the Xtreme wheels so no difference in offset or anything - Madness. Tried to work it out with a tape measure and shoving different thicknesses of cardboard up from the face of the wheel into the arch gap 20mm seems like the tyre would rub the inner arch liner (car is lowered on H&R springs) but really hard to tell.

Hi guys, I'm sorry I know wheel spacers is a subject that's been covered several times, but now I've come to actually look at ordering some I've been greeted with a choice that I've never heard mention of before on here (or anywhere else), so I wondered if someone could help me. There seem to be two options for some spacers... 1. DR Version A System - Only for wheels that have a bore with an inner bevel profile of 6x45° and a maximum wheel hub height of 15mm. 2. DR Version B System - Only for wheels that have a bore with an inner bevel profile of 4x45° and a maximum wheel hub height of 12mm. ...but some spacers don't even mention those options?! I have to say this seems to be a very confusing topic to actually get the right part, whereas you'd think it would be go and pick the width you want then job done I do over-think things though, maybe I'm just doing that here Just to confirm, my car is a diesel VRS Estate with the 19" Xtreme wheels. Thanks in advance for any help

I have a similar sound to what you're describing on my 2016 Octavia VRS Estate, and for me it seems to be to do with the rear seats somehow. When I drive up the bumpy road to my house, it's like creak-creak-creak like you say coming from the rear somewhere, but if I've ever been to the tip or somewhere that requires me to have the rear seats folded down.....no creak-creak at all when I am coming home. One day I hope to find out what's causing it!

Just out of curiosity - I've heard a lot of people mention the wider rear track on a facelift car, but they never seem to mention a change in the front track? So does that mean the facelifted car has the same track width front & rear? Or is there still a difference between the two?

Hi Esseesse200, Sorry to dig up an old thread here guys, but I just wanted to confirm you said you were running 12mm spacers front & rear in these pics - So when you have the 19inch Xtreme alloys on the Octavia, they can be up in the arches like that when fully loaded without the tyres rubbing at all? That gives me great peace of mind if that's the case as that's what I plan to do

That's interesting to know. I think it probably is just an annoying noise that's actually fine, but it's annoying when there's a noise making your car sound rough for no reason
