Best lowering springs and wheel spacers for mkIII combi vRS 4x4

Recommended Posts

Looking to lower my octy III combi vRS 4x4 and hoping someone can point me in the best direction for which lowering springs I should go for. Seen lots of chatter about the pros and cons of H&R vs. Eibach; and input and advice would be much appreciated, as would any links 👍🏻. Same applies for wheel spacers; hoping to run 15mm all round but again open to advice/recommendations/links. Thanks in 76B6C1CE-DC41-4128-904E-E6A5DF8B82F1.thumb.jpeg.5803ac5788e02208d419d3442216665c.jpegadvance!

I would go with H&R every time mate.. have used them on several cars including the octavia and now the superb and they are a nice compromise between comfort and practicality and handling. Have had mine fully loaded several times in the uk and Europe and it’s been spot on

When I specced 4x4 VRS, one of the differences the 4x4 made was that the normal lowered VRS suspension from Skoda could not be fitted and the ride height is the normal one. I was told this was to do with the Haldex diff. The ride height suits me due to the roads I use but I’m curious why Skoda couldn’t lower the suspension when after market kits can.

Thanks mate 👍🏻. That’s good to know; I want her sitting lower but still want to be able to load her up fully without any issue

I wasn’t aware of that to be honest pal. So to confirm: Skoda don’t lower the 4x4, but I wouldn’t have any issues fitting aftermarket lowering springs? How strange

I’m thinking of 15mm spacers all round trip my octy. I think that and a set of 40mm H&Rs (following the advice) will enhance her stance perfectly

Yep 15 all round works well mate and you’ll not regret the H&R’s. If it’s a facelift model I think the rear was wider than pre fl so you might find 10mm on rear will do it

Spot on mate. I put 20’s on and it just didn’t feel right.
I run 12mm on the superb with 19’s now but they are a 46 offset and the Octy is 51. So I run the old octavia pictoris 18” wheels with winters on and 15mm spacers. Still looks right too

Hi Esseesse200,

Sorry to dig up an old thread here guys, but I just wanted to confirm you said you were running 12mm spacers front & rear in these pics - So when you have the 19inch Xtreme alloys on the Octavia, they can be up in the arches like that when fully loaded without the tyres rubbing at all? That gives me great peace of mind if that's the case as that's what I plan to do :)

Yes mate that’s absolutely spot on.. H&R springs and 12mm H&R spacers. That’s on a pre facelift car as the facelift ones have a wider rear track 👍🏻

Amazing, that's so good to know, thank you! :) Mine is a 2016 pre-facelift so the same as yours. Just out of curiosity - I've heard a lot of people mention the wider rear track on a facelift car, but they never seem to mention a change in the front track? So does that mean the facelifted car has the same track width front & rear? Or is there still a difference between the two?
