Glove Box Light - how do you put it back together?!
D@z replied to nutters_uclan's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I had this fun too, bought a mk4 golf one on ebay (its the same) for 2 quid after spending an hour with it and still not getting anywhere seems like a single use item! -
Stu my first set were from Dubmeister, the set on the new VRS are from a seller on Ebay, for what its worth the Dubmeister ones were better quality IMO! The surround is just the chrome bit around the outside, although if you have the cash its easier to order the full grill to leave in for paint while you still have your chrome one on.

not fitted standard, you could retrofit if you really wanted it, but most guys with it end up removing it!

Been using poorboys quick detailer+ recently, been finding it very good!

always been a diesel guy, part of me wants a petrol
D@z replied to mikejay's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Mileage is the biggest factor IMO, any less than 10-12K you really should buy a petrol, over that well then your starting to justify a diesel, but only you know whether you dont mind sacrificing the pennies at the pump for the petrol...... -
2011 CR vRS - Stage 1 (Shark) on a rolling road day
D@z replied to HWMBO - Mark's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
def a good result, I know a lot will say otherwise, but its worth considering a good quality induction kit, it DOES help on a mapped 2.0 TDI, based on my experience of having had one myself and the Mrs having one. But obviously you just wont get big gains, -

Good results! Have you nothing else but stage 1 remap -
Can really recommend Xc mountain biking, keeps you fit but also great fun and much more interesting than cycling on a road imo. Me and my mates have been at it now six months and have gotten to the point where we are actively looking for more trails all around the country, and fitness is much improved without dramatic dieting

auto lights on in the bright sunshine

Remember, that they come on at a certain speed too! -
Anyone looking at aftermarket 19"s?
D@z replied to rob_e's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
not a problem fitting aftermarket rims as long as you make your insurance company aware, in my experience some will charge extra, some wont! -
I will be really surprised if the material on the seats is that bad, I remember having the same concerns with my current VRS seats and they have been fine for 2 1/2 years now!
-
Car looks really good Mark, you cant have much left to do now? thanks for those pics, just confirms that I now really want one of those!!

my new vrs estate is now home but....
D@z replied to Gleemin's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
U sure there isnt an option in the maxidot, I think I saw it today while fiddling in the dealers. ... -
had the standard interior, I didnt notice it was particularly thin TBH, but IIRC it was softer/meshier than the current VRS suede/alcantara style seats. I wasnt paying a lot of attention to them though, I may have to do a second viewing once they have a petrol model, lol.
-
my MK2 TSI runs on 95 (although I use super with it being mapped) so I imagine the new one will too, also I notice the emmisions are lower on the petrol again too, £140 for the year is pretty impressive for a 2 litre turbo!
-
looks lovely Nick, think Im going to have to stop looking at this thread or its going to be expensive, lol!
-
was out for drive today in the diesel VRS estate, very nice I must say, unsurprisingly, not as low as the press photos (come on Skoda!) and I noticed I was correct in that the brakes seem to have been upgraded over the previous model too, look like 320mm ones?
-
yup, looks classy to me, very nice!
-
I ran mine in fairly gentle the first 500 miles, then increased revs every 100 miles until I hit the 1000 mile mark, After that free for all! TBH you dont need to run it in anyway, just make sure its warmed up before gving it the beans. Mine only uses a little oil now, maybe a quarter of the dipstick over the full year, so doesnt need topped up until service time, and my cars modified so stock it prob wouldnt use any.
-
it does look awesome, although I can see me sitting there driving along flicking through maxidot screens like tv channels, lol
-
ha nice one, I was looking at that exact one and telling myself if it wasnt gone by payday it would be mine, lol! how does it display Boost btw as thats a factor for me....

Octavia vRS Xtreme Alloys - prices announced (sort of)
D@z replied to sworrall's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
I think they look awesome, IF I go for new VRS, I will probably order them, but not without a test drive to see how the ride is!- 70 replies

loving your car Nicky, been meaning to look and see if you had a thread about it, the Mrs really wants one of these and she is slowly persuading me to change to one. Personally, I kinda want the S4 Avant, but my head says I could just get a new VRS Octavia and be happy!

Ive had a turbo replaced on SWMBOs Leon, labour alone at an independant would be half that, and then you have to pay for a replacement turbo! trust me, you are getting a good deal, take it!
