Airplay has disappeared from my infotainment system on my Skoda Karoq
Had this last week. Rebooted the system by holding in the power button until the Skoda logo appeared and the system rebooted. CarPlay worked straight away.

MOT Advisory for all 4 tyres
Just had a look at one of mine, rather handily sitting under the stairs in their covers as winter set is now on. They’ve done 10,730 miles according to the Road Trip app, about the same age and have only been used in “summer”, and when not in use cosseted indoors. Sitting at 5mm tread, can’t remember what the new tread level was but ain’t going to be long until they need replaced.😢 PS Just clocked 8mm tread at start so another 7,200 miles left on them.

Karoq Door Locking System - Is it a common issue ?
Looks like this has made the news. Well the Daily Fail anyway. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12823459/skoda-drivers-self-locking-leaves-trapped-inside.html

Outside temperature dash display
Deffo don’t want to see those numbers next week, not with the current prices of heating oil!

Outside temperature dash display
PS Pics from a previous “life”. Happy days, out playing in the snow before the local plough ruined the fun.

Outside temperature dash display
Mine have displayed well into minus figs, pos double digits. Unfortunately no pics of temp so didn’t happen! Will just have to make do with a couple of indicative pics. And it’s looking similar for the next week or so. Will take pics of temp gauge of course. 👍

Bad braking shudder, likely front or rear?
New front pads and discs fitted and the braking is transformed. No more judder and car feels a lot smoother. Pleased with the change, hope they last as least as long as the factory set.👍 Thanks for all the replies.👍

Bad braking shudder, likely front or rear?
Not sure that’ll go down well on the M25!! Got new disks booked in anyway, will hopefully worry re changing them in 4 years from now.👍

Bad braking shudder, likely front or rear?
I’ve tried that but it hasn’t made any difference. Basically taken the car up to whatever speed I can and slammed the brakes on to try and clear any crud off the disks. Some tries were up over 60mph. Didn’t make any difference. Correct way? I have an evening, and I suspect a very early morning due to jet lag, to try anything else. Unfortunately around where the car is the highest speed limit is 40mph, unless I do it on the A3 or M25!

Recall Confusion
S’pose I better find my manual for the car going in for a service next week. Is this number important, if not I won’t bother and can just ell them to tick the “recall done” box anyway.

Bad braking shudder, likely front or rear?
Unfortunately our local friendly mechanic is 550 miles from where the car is, and MrsDSL has banned me from driving the car until it’s fixed. Mouse and she does before anyone asks! 🤣 Booked the car in for oil change and new front discs and pads, that should do for now. pretty sure it’s brake discs, shudder through the steering when braking, worse when braking lightly. No pothole damage, and only occurs under braking. Won’t have a chance to swap onto winter wheels before she goes in, but doubt it’s a wheel problem. If it’s something other than discs (doubt it) then I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it. This will prob be the last time she sees a main dealer, will be more organised next time, honest. 👍

Bad braking shudder, likely front or rear?
My Karoq has done about 20k miles in the last 4 years, 95% sitting on the motorway, and she decided to developed a bad braking wobble just before we headed off travelling for a few months. Daft question but any ideas whether this is likely to be front or rear? I can’t tell by feel, the car just shudders under braking, but thinking most of the braking will be done by the front. Taking the lazy option of just chucking it at the Skoda dealer, with a “free brake check”, no idea if this will show up warped disks but hoping so. Lazy option is coz I’ll be jet lagged to the eyeballs having just returned to UK from Japan on the Thursday and SWMBO says it must be fixed by Saturday for a trip to my parents. In email discussion with the dealer it’s £160 just to plug the computer in, nothing showing on the car and not sure brake wobble/shudder would show up. Thoughts oh wise ones out there, fronts or rears most likely. Oh, and konnichiwa from Okinawa, where it’s warm and the sun shines. Well it did, it’s now dark and enjoying an Okinawan G&T.

Skoda Karoq OSR Seat belt buckle replacement
If it’s the same bench seats as I have in my SE then hope you have better luck than I did. It looks easy on paper but all I managed to do was strain my wrist, no way did my bench seat want to release, plus really difficult to even get a grip. Good luck with it. 👍

Skoda Karoq OSR Seat belt buckle replacement
Do you have the fancy removable seats? If so take out the offending seat then, from the MOT regs, whatever condition the seatbelts are in they do not count as seatbelts. Then you can get it sorted at your leisure. I ran my LR D3 like that for years as I had removed seats and the seatbelts disconnected and stuffed in cubby boxes. Mind you, as you have an SE like me, that’s not an option.

Downsizing 18" wheels to 17"
I use the same size (225/55 R17s) for both summer and winter tyres, never felt handling was compromised in any way. 👍

Skoda Karoq ...Reduce Oil Level warning...advice needed?
You got time to kill? My folks did the same, added about the same amount to a full engine. Their penance? To get that level down drop by drop using the dipstick. It took a while but they did it and now know the difference between “checking” and topping up”, but still blaming me. 😱

Anyone got a good Indi in Surrey?
Many thanks to both of you, will give them a shout. 👍

Anyone got a good Indi in Surrey?
Looking for a good independent Skoda/VW/etc garage in Surrey, any recommendations out there? At first looking at brake stuff but later oil changes and servicing. Based in Cobham but no problem going out as far as Guildford or in a bit towards London. TIA. 👍

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Really got into Jazzez coz they are totally ideal dog-mobiles. Sadly no more dogs but they are ideal runarounds for us, cost virtually nothing to run a reliable as the day is long. 👍 Re Hondas pulling out of the UK, wouldn’t be surprised with the pre-2030 “ramping up” penalties (don’t get me started!) any business would be off their trolly staying.

Best place for front pads & discs?
Not 19” rubber bands but standard SE 255/55 17s (from memory). I have a set of winter wheels in the garage, I’ll bung them on and see if the vibration is the same. And the way this summer is going, might just leave them on! And thanks for the parts links, will have a look at those and see if the local garage I use for my other car will fit parts I buy myself. 👍
-
Best place for front pads & discs?
OK, the slight wobble under braking has turned into quite a bad vibration and I have to get it sorted, well so I’ve been told! Assuming I “just” need front discs, and assuming pads as well, where’s the best place to go? I’ve had a search for Skoda fixed price d&p replacement but have drawn a blank. I know if the car goes anywhere near a main dealer and I mention brakes it will result in major wealth redistribution from me to them! The car has just ticked over 20k miles and 3 1/2 years old. Most, like 95%, of that mileage is up and down the motorway between SE England and the Highlands so not heavy on brakes. I’ll take the wheels off next week and have a look but not sure I can tell if a disc is warped. Thoughts oh wise ones out there?

As an owner of 2 older Jazzez (in addition to our Karoq), you can’t go far wrong with one of those. 👍
