First AdBlue fill and it didn’t go to plan……..
Maybe that’s what went wrong on Apollo 13, the AB tank wasn’t full.

First AdBlue fill and it didn’t go to plan……..
I was only 400 miles short of that distance and could only get half the 10l container in. Even though the tank was full, or more accurately I couldn’t get any more in, the system said I could still get between 3.5 and 5.5 litres in there. That’s after ~7,000 miles from new. What concerns me is when I can’t get any more in I get a “range” of 3,500 miles, which I’m interpreting as either I didn’t actually fill the tank or I did fill it and the system has an issue calculating how much has been used and how much is now in there. I’ll leave it the range count gets to the hundred and try again, pos via a forecourt pump.

Deffo flat as a flat thing. None got spilt on the paintwork, just flowed down the overflow. Reset the range on the system, now down to 3,000 miles and add 4.something to 5l to fill, which I know it won’t take. Means my AB range is now 3,500 miles, not the 8,000 miles when the car was new.

Yes, held it on pos 2 (one before cranking) and counted to 45, give it a chance to do it’s thing. I’ll try it again when next out tomorrow.

Ignoring anti diesel rants, feel free to do that elsewhere, anyone any idea why I could only get half in what the car was thinking it should take?

First AdBlue fill and it didn’t go to plan……..
Average after 7k miles actual average is 51.something mpg, but on a long (550 miles) and slow (60 - 65mph on cc) drive my best is 59.1mpg, a few fills at 58mpg. Down a bit today (47.something mpg) but most of that fill was driving up at 70 - 75, plus SWMBO was driving much of it. Re forecourt fills, none of my local places have AB pumps that I know of, though might try that when passing a big truck and car ESSO station on the A9 at Perth. Once I’ve used up the rest of that container in the garage.

First AdBlue fill and it didn’t go to plan……..
I'm just starting a ~1,300 mile jolly, didn’t want a 10l container rattling around in the boot so I thought, from the indicated amount it would take, I’d get the lion’s share of the container in there. I was originally going to wait until the indicated max fill amount was over 10l but since it was saying up to 8.5l I thought I’d easily get 3/4 of the container in there. It’s now saying up to 4.5l, as it was a couple of hundred miles ago this morning, but there is no way any more was going in. I might try the reset routine tomorrow to see if the range and fill amount changes.

A minor inconvenience cf almost 60mpg from a 4x4.

First AdBlue fill and it didn’t go to plan……..
Car was reading 1,400 miles range on the old AdBlue, I can add 5.something litres to 8.5 litres, 10 litre container at the ready. Planned to fill it up until there was only 1/4 of the container left. Well that was the plan. Then it all went pear shaped. She probably only took 5 litres of the stuff when it started overflowing and dumping the excess down the fuel filler overflow drain. Tried it again, no joy, it wasn’t taking any more. Half of the AdBlue is still in the container and a good dollop all over my drive. Reset the AdBlue “clock” by leaving the ignition on for over 30 seconds and it was only showing 3,500 miles “range” so only added 2,100 miles. What have I done wrong?

Skoda Owner's Manuals
I come from over 30 years of LR ownership and nothing I’ve read here, or experienced in a year of Karoq ownership, would put me off. OK Skoda CS looks to be a bit of a joke but at least the cars work (mostly, ignoring satnav and sunroofs) as they should and I’m not in first name terms with the local service manager. Wouldn’t go back.

Wiper blade fitment
Deffo the A864S, just checked what I ordered from Amazon. Can’t remember the details but it just took a few minutes to fit and was simple, even for a non-techie like me.

Karoq 4x4 spare wheel kit
Not sure I’d survive suggesting MrsDSL would make a good counterweight!

Karoq 4x4 spare wheel kit
Standard, at least for mine, was a skinny spare. Size is visible below. This is for my 17” shod SE, no idea if that’s suitable for 19” rims. But I do long hauls where skinny spare would be useless so have a full sized wheel and matching tyre, either summer or full winter. I loose a fair chunk of boot depth but I do get a fair bit of “stuff” storage out of the way, you can never have enough stuff. Plus wheel changed and I’m on my way, no 50mph/50 mile limits. Works nicely for me. Just bunged the sizes into a comp site and they are very similar.

A few thoughts after it’s first wash!
I used to say that about annual wash at the service, now it’s every two years!

A few thoughts after it’s first wash!
Is this the place to fess up that we’ve had our Karoq for 1 year and 4 days and not washed it yet? It’s due its first service in Jan, I’m sure it will wait until then.

Waiting for a new car?
I should have been up near North Cape in Skippy as part of a road trip crossing Europe through Germany and Poland, up through the Baltics then over the sea to Finland. After North Cape great meander down the spine of Sweden and back through Denmark, Germany and the Low Countries. 20 border crossings in all. No chance this year, and I very much doubt next year or the year after. At the mo, and for the foreseeable future, it’s one step forward, three steps back.

Thanks. Will get them to have a look there.

Bumper kicking boot door opening question.
My ILs have just taken delivery of a new SE spec Karoq that has a couple of extras ordered by the person that originally spec’ed it. One is where they wave their foot underneath the bumper and the boot opens. Obvious question but does that mean they have leckie closing boot as well as opening? I’m assuming if so they’d have a button somewhere to press, either on the fob or in the boot somewhere but it’s easier to ask here then tell them where to look. Thoughts oh boot kickers out there?

Karoq Multimedia unit
Got the same media unit with the so far unused SD slot. Not even sure i have an SD card. It would be useful if it had a CD player, I have a couple of CDs that I can’t play on my iPhone. All the unit does is take up glove box space and would be great if it was elsewhere in the car, like under a seat.

Are all Karoq 2.0tdi 4x4?
Is it possible to see either visually or via t’internet if towing prep has been done? I could call the supplying dealer (car was prereg ex Skoda central stock) and getting hold if salesmen was pretty difficult when we were buying it, it’ll be absolutely impossible now.

Wheel question
Just when I thought I had it straight in my mind! Reminds me of maths at school, many, many, many, years ago and square root of negative 1. No wonder I abandoned maths and embraced geology!
