  1. Usual suspects for any car would be tail lights, quarter light windows (estate) rubber grommets come loose or fallen out, especially if you have tower electrics. Ive even seen it coming in past seals for the fuel flap release and running down the inside of the quarter panel. Best way is to remove everything from the boot so you can see the metal flooring, then use a garden hose to soak the car. start low and work your way up the car on one side and then the other. should give you an idea of which side and whether its leaking from a lower panel or higher up near the window line.
  2. Motul and Total also do a low saps fully synthetic 5w30 Just came into my head randomly, but i think Averoil may have been a factory supplier at one stage or may still be for VAG vehicles.
  3. The biggest restriction to airflow would be the overall surface area in the filter housing and the type of filter material used. The intake aperture is more than sufficient for standard and even stage 1 running conditions, otherwise you would end up with a mixture issue. The R600 has been tested upto 600bhp without further intake modifications. But, even the standard running conditions will benefit from the increased surface area of the larger filter box and something like a good quality foam filter, as the turbo works fractionally less to meet the air demand it requires. therefore less stress is exerted over its lifetime. The best way to describe it is, if you tried sucking air through a hole the size of a 5 pence piece and then enlarging it to a 50 pence piece. It won't matter how big the entrance is leading up to the 5p sized aperture, as it is in itself the restriction that needs modifying. So, you could remove the air filter from the standard airbox, and replace it with something like a Racingline (others available) foam panel replacement filter and receive a safer and probably higher gain while not drilling a safety feature and also retaining all your original equipment.
  4. Fit an R600 air intake instead and save yourself the hassle. It will more than sufficiently raise your overall contact area for air flow.
  5. Aye thats it, just you rub it in why don't you. Mine being quiet doesn't bother me to be honest. What really gets on my wick is the turbo lag. Sometimes by the time it kicks in the notions left me.
  6. Yes. The trick is getting it right without a drone while at cruising speed. 272 also has the GPF to consider, which will mute your exhaust regardless of resonator.
  7. I started an E63 S recently with a full Akrapovic system fitted to it. Bloody thing made me jump and i was ready for it. This thing was Anti-social just ticking over. It was good fun for about a minute and a half, before it just became really annoying.
  8. Would something like the R600 intake, elbow and a muffler delete lift it any without fiddling with the exhaust, and causing drone/boom while at motorway speeds. Personally, i like my motors to go like stink in relative silence, as i get more entertainment value from it that way.
  9. Another way around it is to buy an L&K to get all the options, and then black wrap all the chrome.
  10. Is anyone using a bluetooth transmitter with their Av processor by any chance, that they would highly recommend. I have always used a lead to make sure i don't wake the house up at silly o'clock, as i was concerned about the bluetooth connection failing, but I'm getting sick replacing jack leads for dropping out one of the channels anyway. Had thought of something like the Sennheiser BT100 or similar.
  11. If you go down the BMW, Audi or Mercedes route, may i be the first person to wish you all the luck in the world. I honestly hope it goes well for you (genuinely). The other car i had looked at when changing my wife's last time was the Cupra 300 Lux estate. Think they do a 300 R ST now as well. I much preferred the interior and exterior of the Seat compared to the Golf R when i was testing them both. Might also be worth a look if you definitely change rather than modify.
  12. The cost of the mods your thinking of for the Superb is only a drop in the ocean, compared to the cost of fixing the other cars your thinking of looking at. They will break far more often than you think and they're just ridiculous to fix. I've had many of them and to be honest I've absolutely no intention of ever buying another one again. Its a grass is greener kind of situation. An idea of such items would be M5 crank £5000, AMG front air struts £3600, Merc steering rack £2400, Merc front diff £3000, Porsche front pads £650 etc etc. I had a 997 turbo had 2 engines under warranty before i got fed up with it. My last mercedes was that bad the guys on the parts counter could remember my chassis number. Honestly, apart from the suspension this Superb is one of the best cars I've had in ages, and i base that on the fact it doesn't sh8t itself twice a week like the so called premium nonsense does. Oh, and theres an S8 in the workshop thats not long out of warranty with 23k on the clock thats waiting on two turbos at the minute. Car has full audi service history. Keep your Skoda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Don't listen to any of those 280 owners, They're all a gear short!! Welcome, Thats a nice looking big bus you've bought.
  14. I had this happen in a storm one night, and it was repaired to an undetectable level using PDR.
  15. Apparently that was to stop bots from sourcing multiple orders. They’re sending out a discount code that returns it the standard price at checkout.
  16. Stick up a pic of your wheel. Non acidic cleaner is a weekly wheel cleaner to clean properly but also not harsh enough to damage the finish on the wheel. If it’s a wheel that’s not looked after and has built up brake dust that’s eaten into the top coat, you’ll need a concrete acid to remove it safely without marking the finish, but it’s spray on agitate within seconds and immediately spray off really well type substance. In that instance I use Purge. Smaller area at a time and a detail brush, then rinse. Keeping applying and agitating and rinse quickly as many times as required. Best done with the wheel off the car to be sure you don’t miss any acid when rinsing.
  17. I’m using glimmermann wheel cleaner at the minute. Most of the better names will also be non acidic. Spray it on, leave for a minute or two and agitate with a wheel brush or wash mitt and rinse.
  18. Is it just that crease in the top half of the boot lid? I’d have a dent removal specialist remove that without paint as it doesn’t look cracked in that photo.
  19. I’ve been using Krystal Kleen panel prep recently to wipe down the panel before applying any protection. Seems to work well at a reasonable cost. 303 will be releasing a graphene spray in the U.K. soon that looks like a good all round product. Although bang for buck has to go to TW seal and shine. Auto smart also do some great microfibre polishing cloths in a large 36 cloth multi bag. Ive used many types of clay over the years but keep going back to one I found on the bay of evil. I’m useless at links so I’ll add a pic from my watch items. enjoy your new hobby/addiction.
  20. Anyone fitted anything from MTC? Im enquiring out of interest to see how the quality stacks up against the likes of racingline or revo supplied products etc. They have hoses, elbows and muffler deletes to name a few items, which in some cases are around 50% cheaper and yet seem similar in construction.
  21. Keep your old working bulbs in a box in the boot just in case. The trade off with all the higher powered halogens is the working time is considerably shortened.
  22. I’m hoping they will help. I just find the standard setup is too loose and uncontrolled, causing it to become very crashy on certain types of road. Sport tightens it up but just makes the crashes even worse. The rear roll bar will then tighten up the body roll/twist on similar B roads. I won’t know until I get them and fit them whether I need springs as well, but don’t want to change the ride height, so fitting OEM ones for now to see how it goes.
  23. Just leave it and read through the forum. I very rarely sign in and generally just use it to read through others opinions on new products I haven’t used yet. interesting one unfolding at the minute on how shockingly poor the new Zymol graphene spray is, compared to the claims being made by the manufacturer.
  24. Aye, I think I’d give those a miss 😂. try 3D mats, diamond car mats or weather tech as well as genuine mat sets.
