About to swap a 15 1.6 CR TDI for a 1.5 TSI
I was in the market for either the 1,4 or 1.5 TSI, ended up with the 1.4TSI. Don't think there is much difference in economy and glad I went for the 1.4TSI having read about the 1.5 issues.

Suspicious bubbles
Go back to your dealer where you bought the vehicle, explain that Skoda have rejected the claim, but harmless or otherwise, the bubbles are unsightly. If the dealer won’t get it repaired, suggest you get the job done a submit a bill and as a gesture of good will they should pay it. I had scratches on my rear door, car was second hand. Dealer had it painted or so they said, but they actually only had time to mask the scratches. They came back after a decent car wash. I complained and they had the whole door painted by a local paint shop. Paint shop submitted the bill to the Skoda dealer, job done. As you have had the car from new, I think that’s the least they could do for you.

Locking Wheel Nut
There should also be be a hook type tool to remove the nut covers otherwise they aren’t easy to remove.

About to swap a 15 1.6 CR TDI for a 1.5 TSI
I’ve just swapped a 1.6 diesel Civic for a 1.4 TSI SEL DSG Octavia estate and couldn’t be happier. Yeah economy is lower, I could get 60mpg from my Civic without much effort. Getting mid 40’s in the Octavia, but enjoying the extra power and auto box. Used to drive 40K a year but now only 15k and decided against going with diesel again as I think diesel will get penalised more so than petrol over the coming years.

Amundsen MIB2 Firmware Update
0478 is the latest I believe. My dealer just updated my Octty Amundsen to this version.

Admunsun sat nav UK towns and village names missing on screen
Be warned it is not just the maps that are missing details, the speed warnings are also incorrect for some areas. If you missed the speed warning signs and rely on the satnav to tell what speed you should be doing it could be wrong. Area through Worcester the satnav shows 60mph, but the roads are marked at 40mph and have been like that for a number of years.

Start/stop too quick to activate.
Yes absolutely, it is sensitive, but does work. 67 Plate DSG 1.4TSI

Start/stop too quick to activate.
I've been trying different braking techniques. If you brake down to say 5mph then back off the brake pressure slightly and hold the car stationary with that light brake pressure, Stop/Start doesn't appear to kick in. I've tried a few times now and it seems to work, but does take some getting used to. If you apply greater pressure at that point then Stop/Start will activate.

Start/stop too quick to activate.
Sorry yes, just found the other thread.

Start/stop too quick to activate.
I have a 67 plate 1.4tsi DSG and noticed that start stop is very quick to activate, and can actually stop the engine whilst the car is still moving albeit very slowly. For example turning right, indicate, and moving slowly with my foot on the brake pedal, but not enough to completely stop the car and moving at a very slow crawl. waiting for oncoming traffic to pass the engine stop/start will activate. I was alway taught never to have the wheels turned toward the junction when waiting in case you are hit behind and pushed in to oncoming traffic, so the engine stops and you can’t turn the wheels before the engine restarts so feels hesitant at junctions. I know it can be turned off, but I’ve never had a car stop so quickly or when the car is still moving very slowly. If the system works off the ABS sensors why would this happen and can it be changed. I would much prefer a second or 2 delay before stop/start activates.

Seal on top off rear windscreen
Drop in to a local windscreen repairers, they will likely use some windscreen mastic and push it back in place. Had the same with my previous Honda Civic, bit of mastic, job done.

Seal on top off rear windscreen
Has it split where it joins the bodywork, or has it just pulled out.

Weird Head unit lockup
I agree. When the dealer upgraded mine they couldn't have checked it properly because that would have involved registering the car in the app for SmartLink+ to work and not all dealers will have access to iPhone and Android phones for the purposes of testing. The dealer tech guy was quite surprised when I showed him that the latest update had not worked. The reliance is entirely on Skoda doing their job to get the firmware and the apps working together, all the dealers can do is update it and assume the problem is fixed.

Bike rack (3 bikes) Octavia 2019?
Sorry no, I have the estate and bough some cheap bars from Lidl, but they work a treat. Maybe others can help with specifics for the hatchback.

Bike rack (3 bikes) Octavia 2019?
Others have posted about suitable racks here I tend to follow the roof bar solution rather than a rear hanging rack. I to have had damaged paintwork and near misses with the hooks catching the glass edge of the hatch. Luckily it didn't break, but other have not been so fortunate. Other than that maybe a tow hitch cycle mount, but they always look unstable to me.

Estate or Hatch and model, big difference.

One touch opening
I had the same issue on my SEL, no global opening or closing or one touch opening and closing. Easy fix was open the windows, close and hold the button for 1 second. No need to go up and down. Did the same for all 4 windows and now the global function works.

HAD ENOUGH
I had issues with my 67 Plate Octavia Infotainment unit. Yes its a pain and I guess like most people if its fitted it needs to work. I have raised tickets with Skoda UK and not just the dealer. I'm pretty sure that any complaints do not filter back to Skoda UK from the dealer so have in the past gone direct to Skoda UK. OK they eventually referred me to the dealer, but they were in the loop and aware of the issues and attempts to fix it. Unless problems are reported back to the manufacturer it is unlikely they will get fixed.

Weird Head unit lockup
Try rebooting your iPhone.

Clock
If you have navigation then the time can be set to get from the GPS signal, alternatively set it manually in the infotainment unit. There may be an option to get the time from RDS but not sure and will depend on the head unit.

Heater
Your expansion tank I think will say on it if it has a bag or not. “mit silicate” possibly. You could have a fish around in the fluid to see if you can see it, but obviously with caution because if it isn’t broken don’t break it. But sadly yes it’s an expensive fix but would be surprised in a 2 year old car. Mine is a 67plate and doesn’t have the bag as far as I’m aware as there is no indication on the tank that there is one fitted.

Heater
Do you have a cooling system with the silicate bag in the expansion tank. If it has burst and lost the granules this will block the heater matrix and probably cause the issues you are having. It’s also and expensive fix.

Weird Head unit lockup
Got an Amundsen head unit on 67 plate SEL 1.4 DSG that was recently upgraded by my dealer to 0478. Smartlink+ was not working and did not work after the upgrade so left it with the dealer to keep an eye out for any new bulletins from Skoda UK for further updates. CarPlay worked fine but no Smartlink+ functions. IPhone 12 iOS 14.4. Dealer also witnessed the Smartlink+ error when connecting my iPhone. Last week I updated to iOS 14.4.2 Yesterday whilst waiting for my wife thought I’d have a fiddle with CarPlay and plugged in my iPhone and was asked to activate my car again even though I had previously had my phone connected but without Smartlink+ and hey presto everything worked and I got all the Smartlink+ functions that I had previously on my iPhone Before Christmas when I first picked up the car. Whilst in CarPlay I selected WhatsApp, was asked to confirm use with Siri and CarPlay locked up completely. Did a reset by holding the power button, nothing. Let the car stand for a couple of hours when I got home still wouldn’t work. CarPlay refused to do anything. Could not even use my phone whilst connected could not scroll screens. So decided to leave it. Turned off the ignition and the head unit stayed on and I could not power it off. Restarted the car no change head unit refused to power off. Then after about 5 minutes the screen went black but could hear the radio, but still would not turn off. After a few more minutes the head unit rebooted but everything was missing, radio icons, favourites, and CarPlay was still frozen. Did another power button reset and everything came back correctly except CarPlay which was still frozen. In the end I rebooted my iPhone, reconnected it and CarPlay burst in to life. Such a weird situation and sequence of events that I thought I’d post here just in case it happens to anyone else.

Bag in coolant.
This is mine from a 67 plate 1.4TSI DSG. No mention of "Mit Silicate" on the body, so is this the new double walled unit.

Bag in coolant.
Does anyone know when the redesign was done. I have a 67 plate 1.4 TSI SEL DSG, will it have a silicate bag and is it likely to cause an issue.
