  1. How have you connected PuTTY to your head unit. This shows the com port output. Do you have screenshots of the head unit screen showing whats happening.
  2. I suggest you speak to citizens advice. You have far more rights than the dealer will have you know. Certainly a minimum of 3 months warranty on 2nd hand cars. Copied from car.co.uk. Timeframes to pay attention to If a car develops a fault within the first 30 days of purchase, it is under statutory warranty and the buyer can simply reject it and return it to the dealer for a refund. If a fault emerges between 30 days and six months from the date of purchase, the law assumes that the fault was pre-existing and, unless the seller can prove otherwise, the vehicle is still protected by statutory warranty. Here, the seller has one chance to fix the problem. If they do not manage to do that, the buyer is entitled to a refund, which may be less than the original purchase price to account for the time during which the car has been functional. After six months, the automatic protection of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 expires. It is up to the buyer to prove that there was a fault with the car at the time of purchase if they want to pursue a dealer for a claim to repair a fault. Note that the statutory warranty on a used car only applies here to cars bought from a dealer. Private purchasers enjoy none of this protection and the rules for cars bought at auction will depend on the particular auction house, and whether it was online or not. Other legal protections If a car is bought online, including using the ‘buy it now’ facility of an online auction, the purchaser is protected by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation, and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, which means purchasers can change their minds and return it within 14 days. Dealers are also bound by the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations (2008), which prevents them from making any false claims about a vehicle’s age and condition, so that a buyer can rely on their statements when inspecting a vehicle. Other warranties Most cars bought from a dealer will come with some sort of additional warranty lasting anything from six to 12 months. Sometimes this can be included in the price, and sometimes it is offered as an extra. An ‘approved used car warranty’ will often stipulate that a car must be serviced and repaired by the dealership itself. Other ‘aftermarket used car warranties’ vary in terms of the length of cover offered, the type of protection, and the cost. If you want to extend your statutory warranty protection, make sure you choose cover that matches your particular requirements.
  3. Generally bug fixes don’t think there are any new features added. My car has SmartLink+ which isn’t working properly and been left with my Skoda dealer and Skoda UK.
  4. You will be able to update the firmware, @pab567 can help with that, but I believe Smartlink has to be purchased through a dealer as it’s a licensed option.
  5. Version 0478 is the latest version. You could try holding the power button until the unit restarts, might help without a firmware update.
  6. Yes I believe 0478 is the latest as that was installed by my dealer last week.
  7. Why not try a wedge cushion off Amazon about £14. Will reduce the tilt at the rear of the seat cushion. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Medipaq-Correction-Orthopaedic-Washable-Breathable/dp/B00GTSVZ9W/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=wedge%2Bcushion&qid=1616359287&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyQzJFNDVGQzc5REZQJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDg4MjkySk9ERUdZUUMzTUozJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1NzEwMDYyN1lUTFE2TUoySjBSJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1
  8. Not sure as you may need to update the VCDS to tell the car you nooner have an electric release. The tailgate switch will ty to activate the struts to raise them, you need it to just release the catch. May be others here can offer more assistance.
  9. How old is the car. There are you videos about repairing and cleaning but it’s not for the faint hearted. Do not oil the pistons that will destroy them. Some people have removed them and replaced with manual struts because of the cost. I think they are about £300 each plus Labour, but they aren’t difficult to fit.
  10. Wonder if it is related to how the pedal is depressed. Try pressing as straight as possible to see if it sticks then apply sideways pressure as you depress to see if it sticks. Doesn’t sound right to have sideways movement. Mine has none and it’s 3 years old.
  11. Have added them manually from SD card, did a scan and refreshed the station list, but no icons appeared.
  12. Haptic feedback will only tell you if you are on an icon, not which icon or the value of the settings. The addition of gesture controls (non touch) is even worse as it is less accurate and has limited capability. It’s all gimmicky interfaces that don’t address the real issue of safety.
  13. I have exactly the same issue on my 67 Plate SEL Octavia with Amunsden. Dealer updated software to the latest version yesterday but it didn't fix the issue. The error is "Your vehicle does not support Smartlink+" or "We were unable to connect your phone to your vehicle. There is probably a device compatibility issue. Please contact InfoLine for more information. Thank You". Skoda UK have confirmed the car does support Smartlink+. What phone are you using. Mine is iPhone 12 with iOS14.4.1. I have also tried an iPhone 7 Same iOS and and iPhone 6S with iOS 13.3 but the same problem exists. Skoda did acknowledge that bulletins are released now and again to advise them about compatibility issues, but in this case there does not seem to be a fix at the moment.
  14. Just had the update done by my Skoda dealer to my Amunsden 2 head unit to version 0478 to fix a problem with smart link+, except it didn’t fix the issue so has gone back to Skoda to find out why. In the meantime all my DAB and FM station icons have disappeared. The only way I can get them back is add them manually from my SD card. Any ideas how to auto get the icons afor the stations. Have rescanned and updated the station list but made no difference the icons are still missing.
  15. But its there and likely to be used by the driver. You cannot get away from the fact the touch screen controls need considerable more concentration and are in positions requiring you to take your eyes off the road.
  16. My pictures are of a 21 Plate 1.0TSI DSG.
  17. That low down touch screen on the Porsche means you have no chance of keeping your eyes on the road whist making any adjustments. Cannot think or a worse position to have such an interface.
  18. Ask the dealer to fit the torch for you, that should be fun to watch.
  19. See my post with pics of the Kamiq 1.0tsi engine bay. Its exactly the same as yours, so nothing missing.
  20. Had a loan 1.0tsi DSG SE spec Kamiq whilst my Octavia was being serviced. Engine was pretty good and not much noise, but the stop/start vibrated like hell compared to my Octavia which is hardly noticeable. Twice it kicked in when the car was not to temperature, and felt like it was going to stall when pulling away. Of course you cannot dip the clutch and rev on an Auto, so felt uncomfortable with this. But was surprised by the vibration on start probably due to the 3 cylinders. Here is are some pics from a brand new 21 plate Kamiq. 1.0TSI SE. No different from yours @fabill. Can also confirm that the boot light is a shocking single light and no torch options. Pretty poor boot light. Blanked housing where the torch used to be.
  21. Vibration feedback does not guarantee you have the right icon, granted you feel something, but it is not the same as physical buttons and switches.
  22. As with most manufacturers, the move to touch screens has bought about more concerns about safety. I like tech and gadgets, but there comes a point that function over design can severely impact on driver safety. Reaching for a knob or button gives immediate feed back. Rotational position or on off switches are easily felt whilst driving, but the move to all things touch I do feel a step too far. My Octavia SEL has climate control with which I can fully control the air flow, heat etc via buttons and knobs on the dash. I also have the same ability to control this via the Amundsen head unit through the menu on the climate controls. From here I can control exactly the same functions but it is far less intuitive. There is no feed back and never will be on touch screens, you cannot "feel" the icon you are touching so in many cases your eyes wonder over to the console to make sure you are touching the function you need. The New Golf has done away with buttons altogether and Tesla have been pioneers in all things touch for virtually every function within the car. It appears to me that one tech advance is being employed to counter the tech advances in other areas. Because we now have to look at the head unit to control functions we now have lane assist and collision avoidance to stop us crashing and drifting between lanes whilst we adjust the settings in the car.
  23. I would get that inspected ASAP. If it’s sticking down at any point the risk of it sticking down more over time could be extremely dangerous.
  24. Try forcing it in to night mode to see if that helps otherwise you are stuck with the colours.
  25. Not sure of the material but if high density polystyrene prices have gone up about 15% worldwide. Either way hard to justify spending that much.
