  1. I asked, because the description of my trim level says "color display", but I actually have a black&white display. (note: this is mk4 I'm talking about, Ambition 1.5 TSI)
  2. Živjo Jure! I have an Octavia Mk4 (NX, 2021) Ambition and the maxi dot is black and white only. The Mk3 had it in color? All of them or just in some trim levels?
  3. Yesterday I got a notification on the head unit that an update is available for installation. Anyone else? The description shown was pretty vague.
  4. Is there a thread about good replacements for the Octavia? It would love it if it were not all the defects. Something similar, without the problems...
  5. Can the list of trips be downloaded in the latest version of the MySKODA app? How? I have MyŠKODA version 5.0.2 on iPhone I don't see a button or anything to download the list of trips. I can see the trips with the time, distance, speed and consumption for each trip, but no download option. I used the download in the older version of the app (before they changed the GUI). Regards, David
  6. Not sure I understand. Oh, this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lift-off_oversteer No, I don't think so. I was going at the same speed the entire curve and the skid happened at the very end of the curve. I probably accelerated a bit at exit. Or not. It was about a month ago, so I don't really remember.
  7. There are many topics on the internet about "I want to drift but ESP is preventing it, how to turn it off?" or similar. My problem is the opposite. I don't want my car to drift or skid, yet it did, in spite of ESP. (I mentioned this in another thread, the one about software updates, I think it deserves a separate thread) After a right curve the rear of the car swerved out (over-steering) and the ESP did nothing (no ESP symbol lights flashed up - I was looking for it). Not sure what to think of it, I don't have much experience with ESP, but according to ads, this is what ESP is designed to prevent. Details: temp was 8 C afternoon road in good condition (almost new) but slightly wet (there were light rains during the day, but not when I was driving) speed about 50 km/h (31 MPH, the usual in-city speed limit) slightly downhill new tires (Kumho Ecsta, 10 month old) new car (10 months) The rear of the car moved to side almost for one meter, I counter steered to fix it. Later, I drove into a (back)yard, took a sharp left turn, the ESP lights flashed and the car took the curve like on rails. This was on what I call a "tractor road": a belt of grass in the middle and two belts of pebbles where the tires go (no idea what it is called, not even in my native language. county road?) I didn't mind if it would skid as there was only grass around it. The speed was 20-30 km/h Why did ESP "not work" in the first case? I would expect to pass that curve even without ESP, it was not that sharp, neither was I driving that fast. Bad luck? A speck of oil? Car: 1.5 TSI manual liftback , 2021 april, SW 1803
  8. If only a small number of cars has issues, why don't they simply take back the faulty ones and give the customer a good one? That would make everyone happy.
  9. And here is a Toyota Yaris 2019 on the same spot. A bit blurry (camera was probably dirty), but not dark like Octavia.
  10. Today: tried to lock the car by touching the sensor on the door knob: no response tried the front left and rear left doors, several times then I opened the rear left door, closed it, touched the sensor on it again and... now it locked
  11. So why so many (OK, that is subjective, but still) SW versions for infotainment? What exactly falls under "infotainment" ? What problems were fixed? The only problems that I remember with infotainment is: - radio RDS text not showing (like the title of the song that is playing, I have to switch to next station, then back and then it suddenly appears; happens with DAB but I think also with FM) - once after a phone call the radio did not resume playing - is the little screen between the speed and RPM gauges part of the infotainment? I had some problems with it not switching to different modes, but that problem went away after a month or two. Also what exactly is "head unit" that some mentioned earlier?
  12. I don't drive it that much, but a few days ago after a curve the rear of the car swerved out (over-steering) and the ESP did nothing (no ESP symbol lights flashed up). Not sure what to think of it, I don't have much experience with ESP, but according to ads, this is what it is designed to prevent)
  13. I there some overview? What makes the difference? What car can have which update version? Also, some people mention some "VIN-Checker", where you can check if there are software updates for your car. What/where is that?
  14. Oh here is the difference: in the only drive I made since, I got a "Front Assist is limited" warning message for all the duration of the trip. Which was short. After parking, restarting, the message was gone, just to reappear again, but this time only for a few seconds.
  15. Hi! Does anyone know what the latest FW version is? My car just got upgraded from 1788 to 1803.
  16. FYI: I had a call-in to update the software They installed version 1803 The stated reason was: - fixes issues with rear camera image - fixes AC controls not being responsive I had version 1788. I had the listed problems, but only every now and then, so can't say if there is any difference (yet). Funny, other report they had version 1803 already in august, in this thread: So, is there anything newer than 1803 ? (I'll also ask in the mentioned thread, as it seems more relevant)
  17. Hard to say. For me it was the parking brake not releasing at all. Like if you had a manual brake and forgot to release it. You can not start, or you can, but you will drag the rear wheels blocked. Note, if not mentioned earlier: the same thing happens (at least with my car) with the automatic stop brake (it holds the brakes when you stop at intersections and similar; the same symbol light turns on as for the parking brake, but green; the parking brake symbol is red). That is: it will engage when I stop at intersection, and will not release when trying to move on. The workaround is to stop, press the brake, put gear into neutral, and then try again. (for the parking brake, I guess it can also be released manually with the parking brake button/lever). Also: this does not happen every time, but like every fifth time or so. Randomly.
  18. What other reasons did you have? Did you get your money back or took a Superb (I guess you had to pay the price difference) ? Ha, they told me the same. But they fixed it (can't be sure, since I barely drive it since then). It should (and does so, before the issues started and later when fixed) release the brake when you release the clutch, even if you are not even touching the gas pedal. This started happening after 6 months. Then they repaired it. If you have this problem, try to record it on video. I do that for every problem, since they happen every now and then, so they usually don't happen when they test the car.
  19. I once closed the bonnet wrong on my Octavia 4. I closed it, looked at it and noticed the bonnet is strongly to one side. (i did this because it was always a bit to the side, they fixed this on the second service repair...) Then I opened it and closed it again, this time it closed properly. Apparently one of the strut things did not "go into itself" properly, but instead turned/leaned to the side. Quality and Octavia 4, I guess... *shrug* PS: On my previous car I just dropped the bonnet from about 20 cm (as in its the manual), but many people don't do that, instead they gently lower it, the push it in to lock.
  20. The GUI design is a bit weird, so maybe it is hidden somewhere. I'll check again alter. For example, there is no quick way to switch from FM to DAB. There is only an option in Settings between "FM only" and "FM+DAB". On the main screen (the radio) there is a menu, but it has only one item: FM/DAB (which gives a mix of FM and DAB stations). (in case I select "FM only" in Settings, then the mentioned menu show "FM" or something like that) In other words, the menu that I would expect to allow me to choose between different inputs is useless, as it only has one item.
  21. I tried it, connected to my hotspot, but I can't find "internet radio" in any menu. I also can't find AM radio, even if the manual says it is available. Only DAB and FM.
  22. How exactly do you do this? I set my phone to hotspot mode and connected the car, but still can not use web radios. I have a Octavia Mk4. Can anyone list the steps needed (for the car part), please? Regards, David
  23. I made a photo of default settings (contrast and brightness set to middle) and same, but with lights turned off, on the same spot. A day and night difference. In the first, you can barely see anything. The "lights on" picture can be improved by cranking the brightness up to the max (and contrast to minimum, although I am not sure now if it really matters).
  24. You mean the SW version? I have 1788 at least since July, but noticed this problem last week for the first time. Then it happened like 4 times in the week.
