  1. Nice one 🥴 and I thought the UK was a nightmare for insurance - I'm originally from continental Europe. Well I bet the company's reply will be something like :we need this evidence to ensure you're fully protected at all times. Very enlightening. My anxiety stems from bad experiences dealing with companies in the past - to the point that I'd rather switch than deal with anyone ever again. But I guess you're right, I'll contact them and ask nicely what's going on.
  2. Hahah, i agree, and thank you, that's a very nice way of a calling it. 😄 I do have severe anxiety when it comes to paying bills and charges that could have been avoided - I reckon it's my bad this time, hence the state of panic. I just see no other reason -no changes have taken place, it's just that one bit of data they got wrong and I'm worried how it might affect the premium 🤔
  3. I should have said, the new quote i received from them, was cheaper than my current one 🤷🏻‍♀️
  4. As above, I've received en email from my insurance Company requesting to see my full v5 document. In addition, the email says that the policy may need amended, or cancelled if i don't provide pictures of the document. Which obviously means, it is likely to be amended, or cancelled altogether. Of course, either of the options incurs charges - a total waste of money in my opinion. Anyway I've figured that I put in wrong year when filling out the form to get the quote - I mistakenly put I bought the car in January 2020,instead of 2021 (who cares anyway? There's been too many 2020somethings already). As a matter of fact, car was bought in December 2020- so I actually owned it a month longer than the company think. I was thinking surely this must be the reason for them to request the v5 and politely implying that they'll cancel the policy? Now I don't fancy paying £75 just to amend some quote because of a few months. In fact, I have run a new quote for the car, where I filled in the correct year and month I bought the car. And guess what. The cheapest quote I received was from the same company, despite stating i owned the car for a shorter time that indicated when i purchased my current policy - but surely I'd be expected to pay more just to amend this one! Just goes to show you, the companies don't care, and paying lots of money for a policy is pointless, as you're likely to get the very same policy for less. 🤨 Anyway, thoughts on this? Do I contact them and see what happens? Cancellation fee-£75. If I cancel myself - 50. How do I get out of this?? Do I ignore their email-surely they could have phoned if it was that important. Not the first insurance company to send out threats in emails I've dealt with. The company in question is 1st central - hard to tell my experience with them as I've only been insured with them for 2 months. Anyone has experience with them?
  5. Fair enough! I'm just a bit paranoid when it comes to cars, can't always help it 😆 Thank you
  6. Hey, at least I didn't buy a full intake kit 😂 What about what other people reported that it might increase the flow of debris compared to a paper filter? I know this may be silly but imagine the engine won't last that wee bit longer only due to fitting a panel filter 😩
  7. As above, my car is a mapped octavia 2.0 tdi pd. I have already purchased a k&n panel, only to stop and read opinions on them this afternoon.. 😆 My concern is it may reduce the life time of the engine - car has now done over 170k miles, while I definitely enjoy it, I think ensuring it lasts should be my first concern, rather than performance.. I chose the k&n as an alternative to replacing my standard air filter every 15k miles - but I don't wanna jeopardise the longevity of the engine. What are the chances of damaging the engine by fitting an aftermarket panel with increased airflow? I'm thinking of all the debris going in, and what's already inside the engine at that mileage. 🤔 Am I ok to fit the k&n (since its already here) and maybe replace it after a while or should I fit a standard paper filter straight away? I reckon with the mixed opinions I've read it's not a big deal and either option should be fine- but no one on here has mentioned the mileage of their cars and I think it'll be different with brand new cars. Also, I've not found any information on that, why are the aftermarket panels of different height? E.g. A standard filter for my octavia is 70mm high, the k&n one is only 30mm? I don't really know how exactly filters workg- is this how airflow is increased, by reducing the size of the filter?
  8. Hi so I had mine done on my Octavia back in April, it took them 2-3 hours of labour as they also changed the oil, plus £94 for timing belt kit plus 60 for water pump. Hope this helps
  9. Amazing, thank you 😁
  10. Does anyone know what paint colour are brake calipers on the mk2 octavia vrs?? The garage has just fitted a random silver caliper to my car, with all the rest of them being red... Easy as it is to order one in red.. 🤦‍♀️ I've paid too much for it to order another one. Looking to buy some paint and paint over it myself. Recommendations on paint please? Also do I need to remove the caliper, or can I paint over it so long as the paint doesn't get onto the disc and pads. Thanks
  11. So, I've taken it easy and done 200 miles to it since filling up the tank and indeed, the gauge has not yet reach half tank, computer now says 280 miles left 🤪 if only. Defo it'll be mainly my driving to blame😅
  12. Thanks for the info! I didn't know the exact values. No wonder I always need to refuel 😅😆 not gonna fault the poor car. Having filled up the tank today the computer says 450 miles, although I've already done 30 miles to it so not bad!
  13. oh noo, that's more like my car, I was thinking maybe if I drove it slower, I'd get more out of it. I do have the impression that fuel consumption has increased since I got it, but it's most likely my driving 🙄 I've also noticed that even a slight increase in speed, from 70 to 80mph, makes a considerable difference in fuel consumption 😆 I was hoping the difference wouldn't be noticeable until I'm doing 90-100mph 😄 oh the good old 1.9 tdi, I'll miss them forever. although my 2004 passat was nowhere near as economic, if I managed to get 700 miles out of it, I considered myself lucky and it really took some effort. my 2002 a3 was much better, 6 gears and lighter, it had both fuel and power 😄 shame my vrs won't manage 600 miles.. I drive on motorway mostly, but I drive through town on a weekly basis as well 🙄
  14. Hi, my car is a 2008 vrs Octavia, BMN engine, mapped. I've been reading these can do up to 600 miles on a full tank? 🙈 Seems to me a bit of a tall story, I'd be glad if mine achieved 500 miles without refueling. Just wondering what kind of mpg those normally achieve?
  15. Any car club members on here?
  16. Fine, I'm going outside to measure them 😆
  17. as above, can someone tell me what size are the front wiper blades on my Octavia? There a few size options available. Thanks
  18. Hello, Please can anyone tell me what's going on with my car. Car has sat for a month and it was left it in gear. Today it's the first time I've driven it and it's been fine, it goes fast and brakes but the control lights won't come off the dashboard, also pressed on a few times the brake pedal went stiff and began hissing when the car stopped. This happened with the engine switched on. When fully stopped with the engine off I was able to press the pedal to the floor, heard the hissing then it went stiff again. What's wrong with it, is it an issue with brakes or some sensor? Is it safe to drive? I'm worried because I need to drive miles tomorrow and obviously can't get anyone over to see it before I go. Tyres are OK, just topped up the air and there wasn't much difference in pressure anyway, it only dropped a couple of psi while the car was parked, I wouldn't have expected the control light to come up 😟 Any idea what's wrong with it? Many thanks
  19. I got myself a marolex hand foamer, because I don't have a pressure washer, and I wanted something more fancy than the prewash at my local jet wash. I can't seem to get it to work properly though, I played with proportions but the foam is either too watery, and comes down almost immediately, or becomes too thick after a minute of spraying, and it's impossible to get it all over the car since it just drips from the nozzle. I'm thinking I should purchase a different kind of foam? I've been using some turtle wax stuff purchased from halfords, which I believe is to be used in a pressure washer, although I purchased it because it smells nice 😌 but I can't work out the proportions? Or do I need a different type of foam? 🤔 Anyone else use a marolex to prewash their car? Thanks
  20. Something from halfords? Ideally I'd like something that won't take up too much space when not used
  21. I'd need a driveway as well 😅 but supposing I could rent one, or find a quiet spot off road 😂
