AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
It was hanging off but must have disappeared when I may have accidentally stumbled through flood waters outside of Mauchline at about 45mph in the dark. Would be just as well fixing the dodgy bit and then replacing the entire plastic arch liner thing.

AnnoyingPentium's 2006 Fabia 1.2 12v Ambiente-ish
My fronts are actually quite good, I had the arch liner off and it seems very clean. The side I have the rust on is where the liner is damaged at the rear. The lacquer peel is fairly minimal on mine but my front bumper is definitely quite rough. Might be time to get a Pre-FL replacement. Now just to get the GT bumper add-on...

Rear Anti-Roll Bar - @DieselMonte has one on his... well... Diesel Monte. Lowering springs. General suspension refresh as well, perhaps.

I've also found rust on my sill on the same side as the lacquer peel down there. It's all beginning to bubble up a bit too.

Gave it a wee wash today... Also came across what I think to be lacquer peel on my front bumper, but also on the sill (not pictured)

One of Scotlands great drives. Galloway Forest Park: Carrick Forest Drive: Loch Doon & area.
Also, fun fact of the day (maybe one for @roottoot), do you know the house you see down in the valley area when up the Loch Doon road? It's down this street view thing here... Well anyway, that belongs to the gas engineer who services our boiler.

I'll need to try that bit at Troon next time. Och aye. I've got a mate in Muirkirk so when going North or South I'll join the 74 at Lanark after going through Douglas etc. Nice wee run, can't remember the junction but I remember having to join the fairly steep uphill slip-road in 3rd gear because the car wouldn't do it in 4th.

I was born in Irvine and lived in Mauchline for some time. No stranger to Troon though. I like to go to the Morrisons there, get a piece and then go over to the car park by the shore and watch the dogs on the beach. The A713 is a good bit of road too (well not in terms of road surface) and actually runs near my house. The stretch between Dalmellington and Carsphairn can get a wee bit hairy at times IMO but otherwise quite nice. I quite like the A76 too when you get to the twisties after the Leadhills when Dumfries bound.

Back with a Skoda!
Welcome back to Briskoda! I must ask, is that a Reliant Scimitar I see there?

MK2 Fabia VRS
Building on what @roottoot said... Make sure that you adjust to the driving dynamics of the car before chucking a wad of power at it or else it'll go wrong pretty quickly I reckon. With regards to handling, sort that out before adding power, can't have it putting out more power than it is capable of throwing into a corner. Hope this helps.

Intermittent Cutting Out and Other Electrical Witchcraft
Using an app called 'Garage Pro' that I found on Google Play. The adaptor is indeed bluetooth, it was the cheapest ****e I could get off eBay and it seems to work. The "Pending Faults" bit just provides details of potential causes of the fault/error thingy. I don't know if it came to the conclusion of a P0171 as a result of something not being quite to spec to the reader or something. I'll give Torque a try though.

Thanks, thought I had tried that, but will try again tomorrow when I have more time.

Intermittent Cutting Out and Other Electrical Witchcraft
Aye that's my first port of call. I'm going to spend the weekend poking about to see if I get any further with working out where the fault lies exactly.

Intermittent Cutting Out and Other Electrical Witchcraft
Had issues again, this time a misfire and all the lights coming back. My VAG-COM interface cable has arrived from Gendan and is recognised by VCDS-Lite but keeps either locking up the software or doesn't see the car. Was trying to run a scan on the engine control module here: I also need to know which settings I need? Interface was enabled on COM port 3 but I don't know if baud etc. is correct.

Skoda Fabia break pads
Don't buy Eicher from EuroCarParts. IME they're not great, even my OEM (apparently) discs were better at 14 years old.

Coolant for Fabia
There's times that I forget that BASF's main division is this kind of stuff and not these...

What’s your best MPG?
51 on a really good run last summer, four up with our various paraphernalia. Sitting about 41/42 at the moment as a weekly average since I do a lot of driving in traffic. Also a 1.2 12v.

AnnoyingPentium's Return Dive into Swimming... and other 'elf stuff
Agreed. All that aside, doing this swimming regularly is actually doing me a fair amount of good... well not financially as I'm now going to have to buy new jeans, but you get the idea.

50 lengths tonight. Feeling quite chuffed with that. Anything over 40 is plenty for me really. Also got 20 in a row which is different from my usual routine of doing little blocks of 4-6ish which after evaluation is something I do prefer IME. Ach well, I did a wee bit of exploring in the name of personal (?) science and had a bit of fun, but think I'll stick to my old method as I can still fire out a nice amount of lengths without struggling as much.

Intermittent Cutting Out and Other Electrical Witchcraft
Grand total of 175 miles today and absolutely no issues with the Fabia. So that might wrap up whatever is going on. Will still check for pre-existing fault codes, however.

Bumping this thread since @roottoot mentioned it in another thread... this is in my neck of the woods and is a great way to get to Castle Douglas, Dumfries, or the borders IMO. Loch Doon is a nice bit to stop, as is Dalmellington, the butchers in the Square does some nice filled rolls. Some from 'up t'loch' The castle doesn't have much and is closed at present, but it's nice to have your lunch in there. ^^ From the entrance and the wee car park at the burn... The Roundhouse Cafe is just at the end of the Loch Doon dam and is rather lovely for a wee roll and slice sausage.
