  1. I was going to suggest this too. Seems like a good way of checking, IMO.
  2. I don't think he is. Most service/petrol stations will carry bulbs for passing motorists who have a bulb failure. If you want to be "posh, innit" then go to Halfords and get bulbs, but honestly anything that throws enough lumens in front of you will do the job.
  3. Howdy and welcome. That really was a nice wee Fabia.
  4. @skomaz - I know you don't have your Mk1 estate anymore, but any chance you'd be able to chip in here?
  5. White covers over the cars for transit to dealerships perhaps?
  6. Just as an update, Keith. I did a fault scan and then have allegedly cleared my "pending" P0171 and it hasn't come back, I haven't checked in some time though. I paid to 'unlock' mine, you can pay for 2 VINs/cars or you can do it for universal, but I'm only using it on one car so the 2 VIN made sense. Hope this helps both yourself and the OP.
  7. Have you got a dash-cam or something connected? If it's running constantly then that could be knocking hell out of your battery.
  8. My Mum used to work for Arnold Clark doing area work mostly as a Servicing Administrator. One of the branches (think it was Ayr Ford, who keep the stock for all the dealers as well) had a pair of Zafiras (IIRC) spontaneously combust, taking out quite a few customer's cars and others on the forecourt.
  9. Okay, here's what I'll recommend, take a measuring tape with you when you go to view one, obviously knowing your own height, and measure from the back of the front seats to the tailgate. There's your answer. I've thought about taking on an estate for camping in as well, plus the enhanced load space, as I can just fit in the back of the hatch with the seats folded down but that's sitting upright, looking out the back. For the record, I'm about 5ft 10in or there abouts.
  10. Ah sorry, I just pulled a Mk4 Golf spec sheet for the alloys from the Golf forums.
  11. I was under the impression that Montreals came in 5x100, no?
  12. Mine came on 14" steels. Anything between 14" and 15" seems "sensible" to me, even now when alloys are larger than the pizzas you get in Pizza Hut for the fifty thousand. 16" was what the vRS took, as did your other sporty models - besides the Fabia Sport... which was anything but, it took the Bohemia alloys which I have fitted to mine.
  13. More than likely. My back is a bit knackered so it almost rules out doing the job myself. Which means outsourcing to the garage I trust, and although I get mates rates on labour, it's still going to cost me a fair amount. I can't justify it at the moment but will see how I get on further down the line. It definitely would help. I wouldn't be surprised if the shocks were OEM as most things were on the car. Everything seems to want to die at the same given interval. It would be nice if it was a little more spaced out frankly.
  14. Glad it's not just mine. I've driven five up and by Christ it gets a bit bouncy under load, thinking shocks are getting past it too. Plus the springs are pretty soft. I've got some other mysterious goings on... going on such as the cutting out rearing its ugly head again, and a clunk coming from the front driver's side - suspecting a CV joint or a drop link. So those are more of a priority at the moment. It would definitely benefit from a lot of suspension work to get it feeling a bit less jelly and a bit more fresh, but it can wait the now as I'm not entirely sure as to what I want to do with the car at the moment. It's got Friday to behave itself as I'm going up to Stirling with four of us in it and if it decides to be fussy in running then that may play a part in my decision making.
  15. Lowered, innit. ^^ Turns out there's a cheaper way.
  16. I'd be inclined to keep it given it's been some time that you've had it for and you'll know more about than trying to gamble on some Arthur Daley second hand shed.
  17. My Bohemia ones were £180 without tyres but were pretty stellar at the time. However they can be had for cheaper. At least if you can get a cheap set of something (even steels) for testing, then you'd be able to rule things out, then whack the spares up for sale when you're done, I suppose.
  18. It's one of the "new" ones, so the 2.0 CDTI is less likely to bomb itself compared to the auld ones he had. He never keeps a car for long mind, trades in at 2.5-3 years old, before the MOT.
  19. What about these? Not going to be showroom perfect, but they're better than nothing.
  20. AutoDoc don't do RHD compatible headlights since the market is pretty small for them, or at least that's what I was told by them when enquiring as to whether or not they'd fit. Like @Pete_Ex-Wino, I feel an awful lot of Deja Vu 'ere. So aye, as I told you (and was told myself) then and am going to tell you now; buy the Depo branded ones off ECP and you'll be hassle free. 21. Offside wheel bearing of some sort I imagine then? Mine didn't wobble consistently when cornering.
  22. The Insignia my Grampa has is the same as well I think. Throws a tantrum if there's no AdBlue.
  23. My bearing would rumble from 30-40 and fizzle out a little, then from 60 it would come back again.
  24. I think it will use different items, and have an extra cylinder too, since it's a 1.8T engine. I'll wait for someone to confirm whether there's any overlap with oil spec etc though.
  25. There was some overlap. It's a late model Mk1 (the one in the link?), also the possibility of a late registration. A bit like there's a Mk1 Fabias with 57 and 08 registrations.
