Help me out - trip meter?
My car has a setting for automatic parking assist, you can disable it and it never turns on, you need to click the button to turn on the cam.

Exhaust replacement 2.0tsi VRS?
Remus has an exhaust you can order already. Fox exhausts too. But it just seems like an expensive way to annoy everyone around you though. Maybe once someone finally cracks the ECU exhaust replacement could bring actual real benefits.

Delivery times?
It's incredibly random, there are people still waiting from early 2021, but also there are people who received the cars already and ordered on the second half of 2021. iV Octavia for some reason just gained massive delays, but others supposedly only got a little bit worse. If you believe the articles Skoda said the fire will delay 16000 cars, that's like one month at full production capacity, maybe two if they're still not fully up and running.

TDI exchange for vRS TSI
Rear camera is not that important imo, just having the sensors is enough. It's probably only useful if you tow a lot and want to have an easier way to line up to a trailer. DCC also doesn't seem important, my car doesn't have it and I wouldn't call the suspension hard, it's definitely stiff, but it's not crashy over potholes or anything. I would swap since RS will probably hold value better and also it's much faster. 😀

Software
You do know the software is exactly the same on a GTI? 😅 Considering how much hate you seem to show for the new Octavia, I would look at a Cupra Ateca if I were you. It's on the old MIB platform, but still basically a Golf R underneath.

Delivery times?
Tiguan is quoted 12 months. And VW is thinking about cutting night shifts in their largest factory, because of the shortages.
-
Delivery times?
It's not that simple. Chips are manufactured by only a few companies on the planet. Even giga corporations like Apple make none. Also it's not only a chip shortage, everything on the supply line is getting stuck, mostly because of shipping delays and border issues with covid. @timster Mine was manufactured this year and delivered just a week ago, so far no issues with the car at all. Android auto seems buggy sometimes, but it feels like more of an android auto issue than the car.

Body work details
Yes, that's what I mean, obviously insurance covers it now, but after insurance doesn't make financial sense those dings will become expensive, especially on those sharp details. That's also what I meant to say in the first post, manufacturers are flexing their skills and software designs for sheet metal forming, forming these complex shapes consistently and with good tolerances is pretty damn impressive.
-
Delivery times?
Why couldn't you wait till March? Maybe your car was in queue with currently available components already.
-
Body work details
Skilled people are expensive, replacing whole panels especially large ones is also expensive. I mean, just look at how insanely gigantic and complex the new Octavia bonet is. On older cars it's way easier to salvage components, one these new ones it's near impossible. They do look good though...
-
Body work details
All the lines on VAG cars are exceptional these days in my opinion. They are just straight up flexing their manufacturing skills even on budget brands. But at the same time I can't imagine how skilled car mechanics will need to get to straighten some of these panels if they need to be straightened after a crash 🤣 just cut it out and replace I guess.

Wireless Carplay not working
that would be hilarious if they just didn't put it in somehow. But mine ends with a J and it has wi-fi. So maybe it is just software, maybe they just forgot to tick some box for UK cars.

Software
First one seems weird maybe a bug? But lane assist and adaptive cruise are unfortunately intended to work that way and you can do much about it. Lane assist is easy to turn off though so...

Delivery times?
Hyundai makes a lot of their components in house so it's easier for them to manage, but the most popular models are still limited. Toyota is similar since they already had component shortages before this crisis, they beefed up their supply lines thinking ahead. But at the same time RAV4 Prime for example had like a year of waiting time before covid even happened, don't think that got any better.
-
Delivery times?
But they don't know, it's unbelievable how thick your skull seems to be. They said it was 6 months when I ordered, stuff happened it took them longer. They were saying the delay was a year for months till now and now there were even more complications that were unexpected once again, so according to you they just lied to everyone who ordered before now, because the delays will be even bigger.
-
Delivery times?
But it's not easy, everything you described requires extra steps, no one does anything extra for free. Also if "he ordered same spec" doesn't actually mean the EXACT same, one tiny seemingly insignificant thing could change the date by months now. Why would they tell dealers or people that they hit their quotas? That's straight up anti business. They tell people there are delays and to not expect much and then they keep repeating it, but somehow that doesn't mean anything to you. If you couldn't wait you should have ordered a car from stock or one that was confirmed to be arriving soon. Actually it would be better if you found an example among car manufacturers, which brand does tell you an exact delivery date or give you clear information about progress? I know for sure VW, Skoda, Tesla and Toyota do not do that.
-
Delivery times?
Yes, because all cars for all regions are the same spec and use all the same components and are equal in every way. Oh wait they're not, not even close. I don't know if you've ever thought about how production lines work, but usually it's easier and faster to produce one type of anything than to switch from one to another. f two exact same spec cars didn't get produced at the same day it might be that dealers have quotas or countries do. We just simply can't know these things. Or let's say Greg has a spec that simply had one component missing and it led to his car missing the manufacturing window, now he has to wait for an unknown amount of time for parts to be available again. We still can't know. Transparency is not possible here. The product is too complex to do it cheaply.
-
Delivery times?
But they don't know that's the main issue. How can they possibly know when some Chinese supplier might get their factory shut down because a guy caught covid or when somehow a fire breaks out in one of the factories they need for door panels. It's all unpredictable and they need those parts, your plan of perfect information would require all those suppliers, delivery companies to all have perfect systems for updates, they just won't. Every single step in the system costs money, that's why things are so stuck now, everything has been optimised to work without major restrictions. All cars are expensive these days. Skoda is still a budget/value brand.
-
Delivery times?
I didn't expect to get the car either, I was prepared to wait a year or more. But like I said, different markets, different dealers, different specs, we can't possibly know what is causing the exact delay. Transparency costs a lot of additional money and automakers are already losing millions every single day, unless you want to pay more it's not going to happen. That's the reality of it. Shouldn't have gone for a budget brand and expected premium experience I guess. https://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/unternehmen/volkswagen-will-fast-alle-nachtschichten-im-stammwerk-streichen-a-e958526c-544b-4ecf-bcef-d8dfd251a58f Fun article for you to read.

Delivery times?
They aren't hiding, they're just not saying anything, to anyone. Also their estimates might be wrong as has been proven multiple times already and then people like you scream "liars!". When I ordered mine they said 6 months and then chip supply got worse, covid started again, then me, being a human being understood that they won't be able to do it in 6 months. Now covid got even worse again, chips haven't improved at all, there was a fire and you are somehow expecting things to get better, it would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
-
Delivery times?
Earth is flat. That must be what they're hiding. No one has spilled the secrets of how Skoda is scheduling their manufacturing, it could be dependent on regions since they make different cars for multiple regions, it could be quotas per dealer, it could be quotas per certain spec. That's why it might seem random.

Can high beam assist be retro fitted to my 2021 Octavia SEL with front camera?
-
Software
You can disable automatic door locking when driving? In mine the setting didn't exist.
-
Delivery times?
The Octavia is still one of the best selling cars in Europe even with all the delays, so I don't think it is.
-
Delivery times?
I waited 9 months for an RS and some people waited less, so it doesn't seem to matter what spec you order, it's pure luck.
