  1. I use Google maps exclusively on the infotainment screen via Apple car play. Works pretty well and I see no reason to have phone at eye level but I do have the brodit low down mount modified to take a Quadlock mount just so I have the phone screen available if I ever need it - I sometimes watch YouTube videos on it when I’ve stopped for my lunch. Its a shame it doesn’t show the directions on the main dash screen but I’ve tried to use the inbuilt sat nav so I got those and it wasn’t any improvement in my opinion. It would be nice to have wireless charging but if you can’t add it on don’t worry too much, a short USBC wire is not really much hassle ti use or one of those wireless pads another forum user is making is fine.
  2. I love how all these assumptions are being made with zero evidence to back them up.
  3. Are any of these flexible enough so I can get to the under boot storage on my iV? I use it for storing the charge cables so in there quite a lot.
  4. Remember someone could also get a car quicker if someone else cancels an order which is closer to delivery and just happens to be the same spec as what someone else wants - more likely with vehicles without loads of options of course but there aren’t that many colours or options so it’s reasonably likely.
  5. If you could code it in it would be fine but don’t go spending loads of money to do it as it’s not always accurate.
  6. Agreed. I had an Astra which started to get a slight whine in the 6sp manual box a few k from new. Just replaced with a new one under warranty at the dealers. Not everything works perfectly all the time from brand new. I don’t know how you could possibly think an unseen part of your car has a design flaw when yours breaks. It’s just broken, that’s all.
  7. This thread is for people to discuss long delivery times. It’s going to attract people who’ve had to wait a long time, it’s not a good sample of peoples waiting experiences. Happy people don’t complain. And most Skoda owners won’t be on this forum at all.
  8. I got mine in Feb 2022 after ordering in July 21. SEL iV PHEV with LED pack/petrol blue/different wheels. 7 months and that included the week or two at the start and end getting the order in through my workplace and having it delivered to my house at the end. Remember an Internet forum like this, and this thread especially, will attract people who are having problems with delivery times to discuss them. I understand that it’s been very frustrating for those people but it’s less likely you’ll get people saying they had a short delivery time as happy people tend not to say anything!
  9. With my car I assume it activates regen before braking (iV model) so brakes probably not affected as much as a standard model. It still puts the brake lights on when in regen as it can slow the car down a reasonable amount as on light braking.
  10. I’ve driven a few cars with ACC and number 1 always happens - sometimes it stops seeing the car in front on tighter bends and so starts to speed up. I suppose the detector has a certain scope of visibility out of which it can’t see - so either speeds the car up or stops it like in your example if it sees a car in the other carriageway. I’ve not had number 2 happen as far as I know, I’ll try to test it sometime.
  11. When I first started driving my car I had a couple of occasions where it wouldn’t overtake on ACC on the right but would on the left. After a couple of weeks it stopped and I’ve done several hundred miles with no issues. I’ve no idea if it was anything I did to help the issue, I didn’t get any updates as far as I know. The only thing I did do was register one key as mine and one as my wife’s key. I’ve no idea if using the same key all the time helps or not but it might be worth a try. If I remember what I did that changed the issue I’ll post back. The ACC is quite sensitive in use which can be slightly annoying until you adjust to it - I put the dashboard display on the “road” view which shows what the car is seeing and I always try and overtake nice and early to ensure the ACC doesn’t “see” the car in front and slow me down before I’ve pulled out. I’ve found having the distance set to a minimum helps a fair bit.
  12. i think the next motorway journey I’ll try the normal mode. I think I used the eco mode on this one but maybe the extra engine braking to recharge the battery might actually be a negative thing on a long fast journey.
  13. Ahh yes I forgot about the gearbox issue. Does the ACC cancel out when you change gear? I’ve had cars that don’t stop the cruise control when the clutch is depressed and some that do - most do to be fair. I do like manual boxes but I sit in too much traffic nowadays for their advantages to be worth it over the more relaxed and easy drive of an auto box.
  14. Just walk away, you are clearly getting upset about it all. 😂😂
  15. Grill looks miles better and I would have done the same with the plate - I remove all advertising from the supplying garage when I get a car and the plates can look really bad. Did you give it a machine polish?
  16. I didn’t notice an issue with twitchiness at all? Mind you I did used to have a Focus which did have very direct steering and certainly wasn’t as relaxing to drive until you got used to it. Did you just set the steering to Sport or everything?
  17. Have you done the ACC to a stop yet? I read in the handbook it would take you down to a complete stop behind another car up to a junction or lights. First time I tried it was a bit scary but it’s really good, as all you have to do when setting off is tap the throttle and away you go! If you’ve only stopped momentarily you sometimes don’t even need to do that. Excellent in heavy traffic/roadworks as it will follow the car in front at very low speeds. I’d be happy with 44mpg too in a VRS.
  18. Yes we get it, some cars have issues. Post in this thread about it:
  19. Weirdly I did have a couple of issues in the first couple of weeks but not had any issues since then and I’ve not had any updates as far as I know.
  20. I am opposite in that I have really short arms and legs so my seat is sort of midway along the rails with the steering wheel all the way towards me and the seat base at its lowest. Volvos do have amazing seats historically, the ones in my 940 were properly sprung ones. It just depends on your personal requirements though, they might not work for some people. One of the comfiest seats I ever sat in was a Peugeot 308 estate - never did a long journey but they were super plush. My Astra had terrible seats but I’ve driven a newer model and they’ve improved. My Focus seats were ok but the Auris seats were absolutely terrible. Trying to look and feel sporty but seemed to all the wrong shapes in the wrong places and were terrible quality - fell apart in a few weeks from new and it was a right battle to get them sorted through the joke of a Toyota dealers where I live.
  21. To be honest I don’t find the seats as “plush” as other cars but after being in them for several hours I’ve yet to have any issues with them and haven’t been stiff or achey getting out at the end - I do have a bad neck issue which has been worsened by some cars but this Octy seems to be great for it. I am not sure if the SEL seats are different to the lower spec cars? I know they are leather/alcantara but is the shape the same as the cloth seats? My wife finds them really good too and she often struggles as she is only 4’11”. I only wish my work allowance enabled me to get the memory seats as we share driving and I have to change every single settings between us both!! The 25 year old Volvo 940 that I just sold had memory electric seats but this car doesn’t. Oh well.
  22. You can “desire” however much you want but if the car doesn’t like it it will complain. Every car is geared differently and you need to drive to how the car is set up. For example I had an Astra Ecoflex and it had an eco 6sp gearbox and final drive which were completely different to the non ecoflex manual turbo diesel. The torque was increased and the final drive lengthened so you could cruise at a lower RPM at higher gears. However this did mean it was much easier to stall when setting off as the torque wasn’t quite enough to overcome the long gearing from a standstill. Took a bit of getting used to compared to my previous diesels. If the OPs car is struggling at 1600rpm at cold then he needs to change up later until it’s warmed up. No amount of wanting to do differently will make any difference!! Chugging around at low rpm all the time will also gunk up the EGR valves and other eco systems, as well as doing the turbo no good (especially on short journeys). If you are getting a regen at low speeds/rpm then you need to run the car at some higher speeds more regularly or the engine will suffer. If you can’t do this then get the EGR and intakes cleaned regularly and change the oil a lot more often. I have never “experience” a regen as I’ve always done motorway or fast A road drives regularly in my turbo diesels. Thankfully no longer an issue now TDs are thankfully disappearing from the roads and BIK taxing favours petrol hybrids.
  23. If you take your foot off the gas half way round the corner (for example if you think you are going too fast ) then it can induce lift off oversteer in a front wheel drive car. Basically what happens is that lifting off the throttle moves the centre of gravity of the car forwards and unweights them back wheels slightly which can make them slide if they are already near the limit of grip. Sounds like the conditions you were in were perfect - slightly greasy Road from rainfall, downhill, low temperature (regular tyres can be pretty hard at low temps with not much grip) - for losing traction that way. The term “Drifting” is pretty much only used for intentional oversteer and they never use FWD cars for that sort of action!!
  24. I noticed it a few times in the first couple of weeks but not noticed it since.
  25. My Toyota Auris had a similar camera and the image was also excellent. I had a couple of hire cars while waiting for my Octy and they had cameras and weren’t very good so I was happy not having one on my Octy. I’ve not really missed it as the sensors work really well on their own.
