  1. If you've never had the need to check oil between services in your other cars, how do you know they too didn't use oil? There was no oil on the dipstick 😲 Are you sure about that? Yes the engine will use oil and yes people have reported this, but they typically add 3/4 - 1L. Are you saying you needed 2L to top up in 10000 miles / 12mths? Sounds excessive. Is your car used for mostly short trips? I've owned 1.6tdi, a few 2.0tdi, a couple 1.4tsi and a couple 1.5tsi VW group engines and although I've checked them ( infrequently - perhaps 3 or four times between services ), I can only ever remember having to top up the 1.6tdi. All of the cars apart from the 1.5tsi's were on long-life service intervals too.
  2. It's easy peasy but could be confusing reading above replies. As linni wrote above... 1. press SET button once. 2. To store current position, hold down one of the numbered buttons until you hear a bong. And that's all there is to it ! Note: The above driver's door business is only when the ignition is off. So if you want to test it out - move the seat backwards or forwards, raise or lower the height, adjust the lumbar so it's uncomfortable then either... With the ignition on - hold down the button number used to store your seat position until the seat stops moving. Hey presto, that's the position you set or With the ignition off, open drivers door, press the button number used to store your set position ( no need to hold the button as with ignition on ) and seat should move. Key personalisation is a red herring - has no effect on the above operations.
  3. If you think there's a problem with the reception on your headunit, you need to compare it to another Octavia rather than a Mercedes. Why not ask for a test drive in another Octavia and see if the reception is any better.
  4. We're all different shapes and sizes and we all have own personal wants, but really don't understand any of this. If the rear view mirror is causing a blindspot wouldn't the complaint be that the seat doesn't go low enough? You say the seat is too low i.e. you want it to go higher - makes no sense unless you want to see over the top of the rear view mirror? Just had a look back at your history and noted a past post where you have 30" legs ( perfectly normal ) but said you like to sit forward to see over the bonnet? Wasn't it therefore a case of you wanting to sit in an unnatural position rather than anything wrong with Kamiq? Also saw your reply about current car values - couldn't agree more with you - the advertised price of a product is often different to the retail price which is much different to the true value. However there's a caveat - it all depends on how much you paid for the car in the first place. I bought one of my cars from Ayr - not the best deal in the UK but they managed to get within £500 of it which was good enough for me. I enquired about selling my old car to them - they offered me £9500. To cut a long story short Arnie Clark offered £11500 to buy it off me but I managed to sell it to the Glasgow Skoda dealer for £11800 - or justt over £2k more than Ayr offered. There are no set rules for getting the best price ( other than you must shop around ) but buying and selling at the same dealership is usually a big NO if you want a good deal. Even if you sell the car to a different dealership in the same franchise, that can net a better price. Right at this moment, you can order a brand new 1.0 SE Kamiq DSG ( with no options )for £19k so I'd be very surprised if Ayr wouldn't sell one for £19500. ( Ayr is normally one of the better Skoda priced dealers on Carwow ). That may explain their 'poor' offer.
  5. It's becoming more frequent that when I switch on the ignition, certain display settings change since I last drove the car. I've set my default digital display to the 3rd option. It displays a sat map in the centre with average mpg and stuff on the left side with speed and radio station on the left. However occasionally, I'll start the car and all that's displayed is the remaining miles until empty. ( that might be the 4th display option? ). I have to flick thru the settings until I get to the 3rd display option, then change 'remaining miles' for 'display map' to get back to the display I want. The system the clock is also altered. I went out to the car this afternoon approx 3pm, started it up, the display had changed as described above and the clock showed 8:34am. WTF! I haven't a clue what's happening. There's no pattern to it, not sure why it's resetting the time. It hasn't done this for at least the past 6 weeks - it just seems to change at random. Anyone have a theory what's causing this to happen? I have the personalisation function so I guess that if I were using one of the spare keys, it'd display something attributed to that key... but neither of these keys are ever used. In any case, neither of them is set to display only miles remaining.
  6. In my experience, if it's just an occasional random occurance, those who take steps such as this either never reply or say the problem has magically gone away. That said given how heavily tinted it is, I'd be impressed if anyone would know if their blind is open or closed from the outside. It'd be even worse for a camera to see. Electrics in modern vehicles are incredibly complicated but it's almost impossible to think what would cause the sunroof blind to close on it's own. What I'd suggest is to open your blind, go outside the car and then globally close it using your jkey fob. It may seem a long time to close when you're impatiently sitting in the driving seat, but when you watch it close from elsewhare, the reality is it's only a matter of seconds. Anything pressed against that 'close' button on the keyfob could easily have triggered it.
  7. So are you going to buy one? Do you have the price for those in 2019? And even at that, the market has changed somewhat. If it were a PHEV then £37k - still crazy expensive but I could see it selling. I have a bog std Nov 2019 1.5tsi DSG Edition which cost me £24950. ( I think the metallic paint was inc. in Edition spec ) Not sure how much of an incentive is available today if those are the list prices, but I'd suggest the Karoq ain't going to sell in the numbers it did. But to then introduce one which costs £37k... It doesn't really matter how it drives, at the end of the day it's only a 2.0L 4 cyl Skoda Karoq - I mean it's not even the GTi engine. I'll be stunned if anybody apart from Skoda themselves, register one. I go with a dozen no Skoda registration tops before it's discontinued.
  8. Asking for confirmation of telephone conversations. WTF ! Why don't you just email the service department and ask if checking for software updates is part of the service and that if an update is available, do they upload it as part of the service? That's what I do if I have a question.
  9. £36950 😲 That's just insane. I guess Skoda can sell '7 seats' as it's mojo for the more powerful Kodiaqs but what's the attraction in the Karoq? I can't see a market for this in the UK, will be amazed if they sell more than a handful. I can see with some other brands the car will carry badge status for some, but to have a Skoda badge on the bonnet? It'll be discontinued before the year's out.
  10. Apologies for barging in on the mk3 forum ( I sold mine last year ) but effectively this will be your 2nd service. The auto booking system will be baased on fixed intervals. Your 1st flexible service is, for all intent and purpose, the same as a 2nd fixed service. Don't they have a comment section on the booking form - you can explain what service you require there. As for your question about lease companies - who have you leased it from? If it's Skoda and you approached the dealer then fine. Not sure what you were told before but I'd have advised you to check with your lease company / your lease agreement on what type of servicing is required. The rule of thumb is lease companies use variable servicing but that's not always the case. Hope that helps.
  11. Defo a topic for elsewhere but nobody who's after a performance car would be interested in a Kodiaq. Correct me if I'm wrong, has anyone said that's all they're looking for from their Kodiaq? I'm happy to drive around in my 1.5tsi watching the rat race go about their daily lives. If you want to arrive at the local recycling centre 30 secs quicker than me, then buy a vRS. If you want to arrive 30 secs before the vRS then buy a Civic Type R - and make 4 trips instead of 1. It's all relative.
  12. You maybe OK. The £40k is based on list price, not the on-the-road price. It depends on several things but if the price you're paying is around £40500 then you should be OK. Best checking with dealer.
  13. Although they're no longer called SUPERSKODA, (now callled Kopacek) I was under the impression they still weren't shipping to the UK post Brexit, How much are they charging for delivery?
  14. Buy a MY22 car. Not the cheapest way but by far the simplest.
  15. Did exactly the same here, Skodapartsireland.ie which I believe is the Skoda Burns franchise. Mudflaps less than half the price they are over here in UK but that was before Brexit. Delivery now gone up to approx £15 which means total price delivered for both front and rear flaps would be approx £45. Hortons who's mudflaps her in UK would cost £70 + delivery charge for an all round set. If you order them with a new car from your Skoda dealer, they cost £136 fitted which is just crazy! When fitting them I bought a 90degree tool for my electric screwdriver from Lidl ( £3.99 ) which meant I installed the mudflaps without removing the wheels - all four done in under 20mins.
  16. If some option isn't available I'm sure people will give and take. The problem is that a car is only ever worth what someone will pay for it and this very moment in time, the stock car or the ex demo or nearly new or whatever is commanding eyewatering prices. If you're lucky enough to have that money then yes, go ahead, but given that here in the UK at least, the Kodiaq was a heavily discounted model, when the market begins to return to normal, you're opening yourself up to such heavy depreciation.. You can always take the risk out by leasing or whatever but it's the same story - you're having to pay more for the car. I'm lucky enough to have bought my car with my spec with a great discount just before the market went crazy ( at a time when showrooms were empty ) but if I were buying today? I wouldn't be buying a Kodaiq simply because of the risk of loosing so much money. To be fair, most cars are in the same position so I just wouldn't be buying. If I had a car on order that was cheaper to buy, I might as well wait. As for those who're complaining about waiting times - report in Autocar today about the home Japanese market being told the Toyota Land Cruiser could see a FOUR year waiting list. To make matters even worse, Toyota were one of the few manufacturers not to rely on 'just in time' production - they learned their lesson some years ago when the Tsunami hit and Toyota went back to stockpiling parts. FOUR year wating list ! That's even longer than we'll have to wait to see a NHS dentist.
  17. +1 So to summerise, you don't own a Kodiaq, you never have owned a Kodiaq and you don't even own a Skoda. When I read threads from 2019, that would indicate to me what dealers WERE using. I very much doubt anyone is interested on what dealers WERE using, they're interested on what dealers use NOW.
  18. What Oil did your Skoda dealership use in your car? Are you saying garages are using 0w-30 ( VW504/VW507 spec ) on newer engines? Which gargages? Both my cars ( 1.5tsi ) were serviced at franchised dealer in November - just checked the paperwork, both used 0w-20 as stated.
  19. I drive a 1.5tsi DSG Karoq with e-brake and a 1.5tsi DSG Kodiaq with e-brake and find the Kodiaq the easier to control at slow speeds. It could be that the e-brakes are different but somehow I doubt it. The only real difference is the gearbox - DQ200 vs DQ381. The DQ200 isn't as smooth. The Kodiaq has 235x45x20 tyres, the Karoq 22x40x19. The Kodiaq doesn't have any issues but when new, it was almost impossible to stop the Karoq's front tyres from spinning. It took a few thousand miles for it to behave itself. I'm not the main driver of the Karoq but at just 10,000 miles I reckon there's about 2000 miles left in the fronts. It's only ever used around town so obviously wheelspin is still an issue. When I do drive it, it's noticable that under certain conditions, the engine in the Karoq revs higher than the Kodiaq. Could it be the dry clutch on the DQ200 that's the issue for peoples bad experiences?
  20. Not to me it wasn't. So when it's freezing cold outside, do you switch off the heater, open the sunroof then turn on the heated seats and steering wheel? I can't get the song " Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun" out of my mind. But as I say if it makes folk happy, that's all that counts.
  21. As Yogi bear said, you pay your money you make your choice. They'd have come in handy on our first few Toyotas back in the 70's when the seats were covered in plastic but must say I've never experienced hot seats since. Then again I don't drive b0llock naked. Might be something up with my cars then because my sunroofs are tinted and it just doesn't let heat in to the car. It can get stuffy in the hight of summer but ventilated seats aren't going to help my breathing.. If I'm driving with the roof open then I get hot sun on my face but... well I'm sitting on the seat so how does it get hot? There are a few options that I have which others will think are a waste of money and that's fine by me. There are some options available that I consider a waste of money and for me, ventilated seats come top of the pile. The sleeping pack comes a close 2nd
  22. Try it again... I've just tried connect-services and it's working again today. Did you ask them why?
  23. It may be their servers and/or system is screwed up ( again ). I can't login to either of my Skoda Connect accounts today, keep getting the following:
  24. You're the one who's in control of the speed, so if it's slower then it's down to you, not park assist. I agree that for parking at 90 degrees, you have to be accurate on how far away fom the parking bays for the system to be accurate, but for parallel parking? Overall I find reverse parallel parking quicker simply because it's worked 100% everytime I've used in over the past 4.5 years. Can't say the same for when I park the car myself because sometime I misjudge, especially in a tight space or when there are other things to distracting your concentration.
  25. The 'goodwill' is certainly a factor that'd influence my decision on who services my cars, but wouldn't be concerned in the slightest about retaining an 'online' service documentation. I keep a hard copy of any receipts concerning servicing, maintenance and parts for my cars. If nothing else, it's way more impressive to a prospective buyer than any digital record.
