  1. 1985? What are the improvements?
  2. Since I've put my pressures back down to 34psi I do notice bumps in the road are softened, but also that it feels a bit softer in corners. But I think the road noise might be lessened a bit too on noisy surfaces. One day I might take my sound pressure meter and test that.
  3. I've just brought my tyre pressures back down to 34PSI. Will report back in a day or two the differences I notice.
  4. Thanks for checking when you got the car. I knew I wasn't imagining the change in comfort.
  5. I think I was the same actually. I cannot believe all four tyres would lose that much pressure though.
  6. The lightest one. My issue is with road noise which I'm sure increased when I upped the pressures.
  7. I've never heard of anyone being done for having their tyres lower than spec but not obviously low. I mean, it looks like the car was supplied to me with the pressures set to 33 PSI. And 39 seems very high.
  8. Fair enough, I'd rather set mine to the best level for driving rather than fuel economy.
  9. I am asking this because the first time I checked my less than one year old car's pressures they were around 32 or 33 PSI - I cant remember exactly, but I noticed the recommended pressures, which are found on the inside of the fuel flap, are 2.7 bar for the fronts (that's 39 PSI) and 2.9 bar (42 PSI) for the rears. Are they recommending such high pressures because it makes the official fuel economy figures better? I believe Porsche do this with the latest 911.
  10. Mine starts creaking sometimes at the instrument display surround join.
  11. The FL doesn't look much different on the whole, though.
  12. Personally I would fit the coaxial Focals: https://www.focal.com/products/pc-165-sf Is it easy to take the door cards off? Mine is a lease vehicle and I dont want to damage it.
  13. Kind of both for me. I'm just not a fan of tweeters so high up.
  14. Yeah, I prefer it not being like that though. It seemed to start in the late 90s.
  15. Anyone else find the positioning of the front tweeters at the base of the windscreen pillars odd? They seem to fire across the windscreen and will get reflected by the windscreen glass. I'd much prefer the tweeters to be down inside the woofers so the sound isnt so bright. I know high frequencies are more directional but it is preferable to them firing across the windscreen which makes no sense acoustically due to the amount of reflections the windscreen will generate..
  16. No I'm using it like a normal hybrid, not plugging it in at all. So the battery is usually at 3 miles as I have it in sport mode usually.
  17. I average about 25k miles a year that's why I said 18k and ignored the time interval. I will check as I'm not totally convinced they are right.
  18. I went to my dealer for the second service yesterday only to find my car is now on the "long life" plan because I do so many miles, so still have another 7000 miles to go. Apparently it's every 18k on the long life. But the didn't set the service reminder to the correct number of miles last time and the guy I booked the service with didn't notice either. Kind of annoying as I got up at 7am on a Saturday for it.
  19. Interesting video on tyre wear: https://youtu.be/hvIcVmSzSEg?si=sFyhjx62QLW4A5KR
  20. Anyway, back on topic...
  21. I never bother with all season tyres to be honest. I tend to do about 25k miles a year and summer tyres are fine in most conditions I encounter. Sure all season tyres would give more grip in the colder months but I just dont find it to be a big enough problem that I feel the need to get them changed. If I lived in the hills maybe I'd think differently.
  22. Well there is traction control so you wont get huge amounts of wheelspin. But heavy acceleration and heavy braking will wear tyres out faster. All that extra power that the IV brings means more wear if you are using the extra power regularly.
  23. I think my tyres will last a few thousand miles more. The way you drive will affect tyre longevity more than rotating tyres imo. It's also not easy to rotate tyres when you have no spare btw you're not going to make 4 last 47k miles if the fronts wear out after 20k. The rears would likely last 40k so rotating would give you the low 30s I would have thought.
