I went from a Focus to a mk3 Octavia 2 years ago and found the same. You get used to it though and it isnt that bad. I find the steering on the Skoda better than the Focus - the Focus was pretty weird steering and a bit vague. Focus was definitely quieter though.

I absolutely agree about road surfaces. I don't think tyres are the main issue at all btw its the level of soundproofing. But why does the UK have such noisy road surfaces? Why is it allowed? Arent these noisy surfaces also higher in friction and thus less environmentally friendly due to increased emissions?

Guys, what area of the car would you say reduced the cabin noise the most? The noise that bugs me most the the road noise on rougher asphalt surfaces. The constant roar that blocks out a lot of the music frequencies while you're driving.

Turning the stereo up will just damage your hearing quicker. Honestly I think in 2024 there should be laws about the level of sound deadening that's acceptable. The Octavia is far from acceptable on rough surfaces.

I have 1940 and you need to turn the bass up on that. I dont think the system update will affect the equalisation at all. That would surely be a separate audio update? The limiting factor would be the speakers anyway I would think. USB Audio Pro is better than Poweramp.

I don't think a system update would change audio codecs. In any case a codex update shouldn't alter the bass either.

Looks like it may be a bug in the android app. I'm assuming the actual mpg figures are in UK mpg otherwise they would be 1.2 times better than displayed which seems unrealistic.

I do have an iPhone work phone but if rather use the measurement microphone plugged into my android device.

Can you explain this graph for people like me who have never used programs like TuneEQ? What does it show? I can see the frequency on the x-axis but don't understand the blue and orange lines. I bought a measurement microphone to use with my phone to perform a frequency sweep of the car speakers but I havent got round to using it yet and I'm not even sure of the best way to do it.

Has anyone used parametric EQ with the stock speakers? I play music from my phone with the USB Audio Pro app and am using these standard EQ settings at the moment but wonder if anyone has come up with some better, more detailed improvements. I put a dip at 4kHz as I feel the speakers are a bit peaky there. And boosted the bass as it seems too subdued.

My car also seems to have developed a noisy dash. Disappointing really.

Looking at fuel consumption in the MySkoda app I have noticed fuel consumption seems to be improving as the months get warmer (1.4 TSI PHEV only used as a normal hybrid (I don't plug it in) mainly in sport mode)

Mine has Pirelli P7 tyres and I recently noticed the tyre pressures were much lower than what is specified they should be (I am presuming they were inflated wrongly when the car was new as it's only about 8 months old and the pressure warning alert has never appeared). I inflated them to the correct pressure and I'm definitely noticing a lot more road noise. Changes in asphalt texture have a huge effect on noise in the cabin. I'm growing to really hate the noisy surfaces. I don't think different tyres are going to have much effect here, it's probably down to soundproofing levels and perhaps suspension.

I've just noticed mine is on 1940 rather than 1941. Is there much difference between those?

It's an update. It will have improvements that may not be that obvious but it's still an update.

I haven't had a notification about it yet either. Surely there aren't that many Octavia's out there waiting for it? They should be able to do them all in a month, tops?

Reading the recent post I just don't understand why some people aren't getting updated. What is the problem? Surely the update system should be better than this?

Does anyone know why service intervals are every 10k miles for the PHEV?

Do you know what engine size it said it had? Is it the 1.5TSi?
