  1. What engine is it?
  2. I fail to see how that could be bad for the engine.
  3. They will surely ditch the 1.4TSI as it is not as economical as the 1.5TSI?
  4. Is it me or is there no was of turning off the heater/air circulation fan? Also when not using air conditioning the temperature of the air seems quite random. It can get quite warm even if you set it to 17⁰C but sometimes it's cold and you have to turn it up.
  5. Yeah, I use FLAC. It can play 24 bit 48kHz FLAC. (It can play 96kHz but I think it down samples to 48)
  6. I have a neat tip for playing music from a phone - install the USB Audio app on your phone - it costs money but it works well and it gives you a far more detailed equaliser with the option of a parametric equaliser for an additional £2 or something. It's also good for headphones listening using a DAC dongle.
  7. Yeah I know you can set it to store charge via the engine but I don't tend to do that as I wouldn't think it would be as economical - it's going to use fuel to charge it up.
  8. Seems quite responsive as it is, I'd like a bit more information.
  9. For the last few months I've been using my IV as a hybrid only as I haven't really been able to plug it in. Mog have varied wildly. There were some days I was only getting high 30s, though that wasn't very often. On one drive a couple of months ago I got 57mpg. And last week on a drive from up in the hills in Perthshire to Dunfermline I recorded 63mpg (I get is was on average downhill so maybe that's why). Average seems to be about 47mpg. Though I think I'm noticing better mpg when the temperature is around 10⁰C or higher. Sometime though the exact same journey can give quite different mpg day to day Has anyone else been using their plug-in hybrid like this?
  10. Ok tried it - it doesn't work as you can have a different phone connected than the phone that has the Carplay/Android auto connected. So there's no way to change from Carplay to Android auto. Frustrating.
  11. The issue is once it's connected to Carplay it no longer shows the Smartlink option it replaces it with Carplay.
  12. This probably doesn't affect many people but I have an apple work phone and an android personal phone. When I'm connected to Carplay how am I supposed to switch to android auto? There seems no way of doing it.
  13. I had a MK3 1.6 diesel and it was noisy, it was the worst thing about the car. I believe the 2 litre is quieter. Also I have driven a 2 litre Mk4 and it was nowhere near as noisy as my 1.6 MK3. I would say take one for a test drive to see how you find it. The only noise issue I have with my 1.4 hybrid is road noise is higher than I'd like. I think that's always been an issue with Skoda Octavias.
  14. I hate the the updates always pop up when you're driving so you can't read properly what they're for and you just hit update and it never tells you if it was successful or not.
  15. It probably never discharges fully as that wouldn't be good for the cells.
  16. I've been using mine as a hybrid rather than a plugin hybrid the last couple of months and I notice quite a variation in mpg. One day I got 57mpg going from my house near Edinburgh to Perth, then got about 51mpg on the way home. It's been rare that I've had days over 50mpg though. I think the long term average has been around 47mpg, which I suppose is quite good for this size of car compared to a purely petrol car. I'm expecting mpg to improve in the warmer months though - should be interesting to see how much.
  17. Has anyone noticed that the car seems to be able to charge the battery itself quicker than when you plug it in?
  18. You need to know how to turn them off first.
  19. But surely if you thought it was appropriate to take your foot off you would have done so.
  20. I don't even understand why it's saying that.
  21. Does anyone know if the MK4 has different roof bar attachments as the MK3?
