  1. Thank you, I already got covered and gave my feedback about the update-success a few post above. I also offered to help out regarding answering requests. I got a different link and thought it was hosted on a one-click hoster but after checking the URL I'm not shure if it's ok to pass it on since I'm not shure who originally uploaded it. It's hosted on a service called Stackstorage wich seems not to be a random one click hoster.
  2. I'm currently crafting myself a little sim rig that I can put in front of my 65-inch TV and store in a corner of my bedroom if not needed. There's already gaming PC hooked on the telly. Some years ago I built myself a gaming seat that I can put in front of the telly for playing more competitive stuff (shooters) via mouse and keyboard. That seat is mounted on a wooden console with rubber feets so it stands solid but can be move around on front wheels if you lift the rear end. I already owned a cheap thrustmaster T150 set (I barely used) but decided to give simracing another shot with a fanatec DD some weeks ago. That one was (or still is) currently on sale btw. As for the pedal set I'm using a modded thrustmaster T-LCM set with loadcell brake wich is pretty nice. The stuff mounted on a wheelstand pro. I had to make a little improvement with the wheelstand since the entire assy moved away from the seat during playing - thanks to the loadcell brake that requires a lot of force. I added some sort of hooks on the seat console that connects to the wheelstand, now everything stays in place^^ As a gadget I added a little 5" Dashboard with LEDs on the wheelbase from a very nice polish dude who sold it on Etsy for a fair price. Due to the neat weather I don't play a lot these days but this kind of stuff usually gets more expensive during autumn/winter.
  3. Still thanks for trying and reaching out via PM @TheWanderer I'd guess the initial link was meant to be a temporary solution since it was created with a private NAS, probably in order to avoid having it spread all across the internet and get a lot of traffic. If I can get my hands on it I could re-upload it on a one click hoster and people can pass on these links in the future.
  4. I don't think these "criterias" are only set from a technical perspective but also as a "business decision" to lure more customers into service measures 🙄 Even the math doesn't add up - 365x25,1miles = 9161,5miles/year ....LOL
  5. Typical procedure These days: Swap the entire assy instead of fixing the harness (in case it's not a big bunch of single wires).
  6. Sorry for the many requests and thanks a lot for providing it in the first place. Perhaps somebody is willing to jump in. I use wetransfer for sending files that won't fit in an eMail but I think it's limited to 2GB so the file might be prepared as split archives. Posting these Kind of download links in public is probably a liability/risk for the forum owner....unfortunately. We should be grateful that they allowed the discussion so people can help each other out via PM.
  7. I had the same issue, thanks to low milege/year I got a service message after one year and just 8000km in the meter. One could tell that the Message was triggered totally static after one year. I just wanted it checked out but the dealer replaced the oil instead of adjusting the service Interval parameters. I complained (in behalf of my company since it's a company car) since I read about these premature messages in online forums and suddendly the dealer invited me to adjust some service Interval related settings.
  8. I dont think that WD40 helps if pressing against it just reduces these noises. My unit does not have a sunglass department due to the panorama roof. Does it make any difference if you leave the sunglass cover open?
  9. I think they might have to "request" it in order to get a warranty refund (in case it's withn warranty) - should be no issue if they claim it by reporting the usual issues.
  10. I drove the 1.6 TDI in my Octavia 2 and don't misss that engine at all. Shortly after the diesel-gate update I had a faulty AGR and some time later an injektor broke. I think the AGR was covered by Skoda but the Injector was kind of prices. Car only had ~80000km on the clock. Now I have the 2.0 115PS engine with manual gearbox and I like how it behaves and run with a lot of torque in low RPM conditions.
  11. that number is a strong backup for my confidence lol^^ @varooom It feels a little impolite to ask while beeing sort of a newbie here, but would you share the link with me, too?
  12. Over there @skodacommunity.de I read several reports about failing batteries. One way to make shure the battery itself is OK is to unplug the charged battery after some driving and check / write down the voltage and check it again next day. In case the voltage still drops off in the same tempo you likely have ruled out the car. Still the car might have issues leading to intermittent electronic "wake ups" hurting the batteries lifetime.
  13. Lucky you - I asked my dealer ~2weeks ago but due to stuff shortage they don't have time for me soon, probably I was too honest with my description of issues. I'm tempted to run the update myself - back in the days I installed custom ROMs on phones / PDAs or rooting Android devices. This appears very easy like running an USB update on my Sony Android TV. How many of you guys did the procedure so far? I've seen many asking but who honestly followed it through?
  14. I got 2 steering wheels under warranty as a "temporary fix". During the first swap it was considered as a final soulution but when they had to swap it again some sort of "software fix" was in the making, that was ~1 years ago. Error re-occured very sporadically but it's good to know that the SW fix is getting rolled out. On the other hand it's nice to drive around with a newish looking steering wheel.
  15. I can't recall if I had that issue in the past but my MJ21 got 2 dedicated updates for the canton amplifier in the past due to whatever reasons. I think you should talk to your dealer about that issue and give him a little hint towards the canton amplifier software/firmware.
  16. I have the canton system but I drove a lot of 04 loaners with standard setup. I don't think a subwoofer will make a lot of sense since the sound is not really weak BUT there's some sort of limiter kicking in very soon preventing high-ish sound levels and cutting off low frequencies. So the sound isn't linear between low/mid volume (=sounds OK) and higher sound volumes (sound becomes flattened/thin). I think a combination of active sub plus amplifier would be the better solution. I read mostly positive feedback about the "ETON" products @skodacommunity.de wich are "kind of" plug & play soulutions.
  17. My 1896 worked fine for a pretty long time except for the sound setting bug. Then I experienced the same story: Some OTA update lead to sporadically reboots at first and more often occurence later on. I was thinking I had found a solution since it worked fine for weeks after I did a factory reset and did not configured any user. Unfortunately the reboots came back, right now ~1 reboot in 2 days. I find it funny that skoda can't revert this issue by another OTA or regained their balls to run the "big updates" via OTA. They don't have to do this for all units at once but I think the positive outcomes should be the greater benefit compared to a few bricked MiBs that are probably to expect.
  18. It's a little off topic to the question but it would be nice if AA would use more of the the screen space, there are some mm on the top edge just showing nothing. And if I had a free-wish I'd ask the developers to add an option to hide that lower bar with themperature control / seat heaters to make that space available for AA. too.
  19. Wow this is great work so far, guess "some" kg of material has been added to the overall weight lol. I was thinking about doing this with the front doors but mainly for improving the sound quality and eliminate some "clicking" noises I get on the front passenger door, especially during the cold months and when some bass kicks in. I guess I would've done and fix this ASAP 15 years ago but nowadays I became a bit lazy when it comes to tasks like this^^
  20. Good morning folks, my Name is Jan and I live near Hamburg (sorry for my english^^). I got my first Octavia I in 2004, another one (II FL) in 2013 and - due to an accident- I ended up with the Octavia IV First Edition in late 2020 wich was kind of too early.... After 2 years and many service visits with the car due to different issues it is now - all in all - "okay". Still got a lot of hiccups with the MiB (reboots / canton bug) but thanks to Android Auto Wireless at least I don't really have to bother with the poor onboard Infotainment. I'm already a member of the german skodacommunity but I think it won't hurt to widen the view a little and this forum has been a helpful read to me in the past.
