  1. Both my front ones on my karoq have come off in the last year. Passed the mot last week with no mention of them missing, and car was serviced at the same time and it wasn't mentioned during service either. Therfore o would say do not worry yourself about them being missing.
  2. I run audi wheels for the summer with 235 50 18 tyres. Non standard wheels and tyres but my insurance don't care. The standard skoda alloys are 215 50 18 winters. Both give a much better ride than the crap bridgestones it came with. And it's a 1.6 2wd. Maybe swapping your 19s for 18s all season and informing your insurance could be a way to go.
  3. It's a nice looking car, but I would walk away needing welding underneath and the prospect of more. Unless you were to buy it much cheaper without the mot and welding done and know a good welder who would do the welding to a good standard, not just a cover it patch and loads of underseal to hide it.
  4. I'm late to this party too. I always change two at once. Always fit the new ones to the back and move the back to the front. I replace then at approx 2 mm. For the first time ever I have twosets of wheels with summer tyres and winter tyres for the Karoq. The winters are vredestein on the standard karoq wheels, have done 3 winters now, probably about 9000 miles and two showing slight wear and to still look new. The summer wheels have one Bridgestone, one budget and two Kormoran tyres on. They are what came with the wheels which are audi a4 wheels. I'm away to get 4 tyres for it before the mot in a few weeks. The fronts are 2mm and 4mm, the rears are 6mm and 7mm but are showing signs of perishing which I do not like. Probably would pass mot though. But as this car is a forever keeper it's getting a treat. I'm expecting to go for uniroyal rain expert, I've never had any problems with them in the past.
  5. It's too shiny for primer lol. Right colour though. Maybe soda does do gloss primer😂😂
  6. My Karoq. I didn't really like the colour when I bought it, but have came to love it. Incidentally what is the colours name. I know it's grey lol In the background is my project golf mk4 1.9arl gttdi. It's better for a thrash being manual than the auto Karoq.
  7. I know about inclement weather up here. I'm a bit further up here than Skye. It's a beautiful island, I've been around it a few times. I run two sets of wheels and tyres, I have vredeisten winters on the standard Karoq alloys and kormoran SUV summer tyres on the other set. Kormoran are made by Michelin as far as I'm aware, and have been great on the karoq and previous yeti. They are 5 years old, done over 30k. Two are about done, two still have about 5mm just starting to perish.
  8. What size tyres have you on them, and were they included in the price? I'm guessing not, but you never know!
  9. I got a recore kit fitted by a local garage to my golf 1.9td about a year ago. It lasted 7 miles. Got it towed back to the garage where he refused to do it again and refused to reimburse me. I ended up buying a used turbo off Ebay and getting it fitted. Not had a problem in the 8500miles since. I wouldn't go down the recore route unless it was with a turbo rebuild specialist. Incidentally the garage that did the job originally is now defunct.
  10. My Karoq was registered the very end of 2018. It is a 1.6tdi dsg SEL. Recently in the downpours that there has been I'm getting drops off water coming through the door seals. The seals themselves seem quite soft, I can pot my finger between door and frame along the top. Has anyone had this happen? I am debating in my head of some brute force bending the window frames in a little, or putting stick on draught excluders on them, or replacing the seals completely. The 3rd option is likely the best, the other two seem like bodges, especially the stick on draught excluder. Any advice, thoughts or fixes gratefully received. Davies.
  11. I was lucky when I bought the Karoq. I sold my previous yetiformore than I had paid for it, I only had to find 6 grand to put along with it for the Karoq. I had 4 grand saved up which was going to be a new shower room and won 5 grand one raffle so bought theeKaroq with no loan. In the 2 and a half years since I've managed to get enough so my new shower room is now fitted too. The karoq has only cost me twice in the region of £250 for a service and mot and two tyres. If that continues for another three years or so I may be able to get a newer car then.
  12. I get the higher rate on personal care on ADP, and the lowerrate of motability so I don't qualify for a car. Not that I would take it at the moment anyway. I can hardly walk to the end of the street and I live in number 3 so without measuring it would be about 20 meters max. I'm 62 and have been like this for 17 years. I would rather have my health back and be able to still be working and be providing for myself than having to put up with constant severe pain physically that nothing can be done about. My condition cost me my marriage and worse my selfrespect having to ask for help for everything. Yet I am lucky because I own my home, don't drink or smoke so I can afford to own my own car. Having done the sums often I am better having my karoq dsgwhich is 7 years old and absolutely perfect for me than spending a few grand to get a pos corsa or the likes that would not suit me. I would swap positions with anyone who has their health and happily pay my taxes, as I did before I became unfit. And I hate the word "benefits" to describe what I relieve. I paid national insurance and now am claiming off that insurance. Benefits to me insinuates that I'm a lazy git that never worked a day in my life and I've got everything for nothing.
  13. My Karoq does that too. It's the most annoying thing ever.
  14. Mine is a 1.9 pd so yours probably a newer engine if it's a 2.0
  15. I have eventually got rid of all the Bridgestone my karoq arrived with. Two of them were over 5mm and one was 3mm. The 4th tyre was a brand new budget. The Bridgestones went to the skip they were that poor and the budget one is in the shed in case I need an emergency tyre replacement. I expect it will stay in the shed forever. I now run kormoran summer tyres on one set of wheels and vredestien winters on the other.
  16. If that's the 1.9 arl engine it's the same as I have in my 2nd car, a mk4 golf gttdi 150. It's a 6 peed manual and I don't often work out the tank to tank mpg but when I do it's always high 60's. The trip computer usually averages 70 ish. The car is totally standard now, it wasn't when I bought it. It had 18" wheels and a daft remap which was all top end, it had no pull until over 3200 rpm and then was a rocket. That blew the turbo so it got a standard turbo and standard map installed along with standard 16" wheels.
  17. The point I'm making is that the price of 4 16" steelies from skoda is£232, genuine wheeltrims probably at least £100, and I was recently £160 for 2 205/55×16 mid range tyres for my golf. That's about £650! Get his own wheels refurbed for £180 if he wants them mint. If he is happy with the outside faces bubbling then the cheap way. But I think if his car is nice I would get a refurbishment
  18. My local tyre shop would remove the tyres, wire brush the inside of the beads, give a quick blast of silver spray paint rod the inside of the beads then refit the tyres and all for £15 a wheel. Problem of leaking solved. Or a local powder coating place will do 4 x 17 wheels and refit existing tyres for £180. Both these options better than used alloys, or 4 new steelies 4 wheel trims and 4 new tyres
  19. It worked for me two years ago, I bought my used karoq from Peter vardy carz. I got a £1000 deposit incentive from the dealer and put down £4000 the day I picked the car up. It was a hire purchase agreement, not a pcp. After 2 days I requested a settlement from the finance company and only paid a very small amount, I seem to remember £14 on what I borrowed from them. This was arranged directly with the finance company. I effectively got a £986 further discount on the car that I had already got £500 off. I do not know who lost out on the £986, nor do I care. The dealership in Aberdeen then closed down 6 months later and is only now getting done up again.
  20. I actually never buy anything that saus free postage then charge £15 or more for postage to me cos I'm highlands and islands, or I'm not mainland UK. Last time I looked there is no sea between Macduff and mainland UK. An AB postcode sometimes is main̈land and sometimes not. It's a con.
  21. The cross climates I've just dumped were dated 3519. Covered approx 30k all on the front of my two sodas. They had 4mm of tread left but had horrendous cracking tound the rim, most of the side walls and most of the tread so had to go. The kormorans done the same milage with me, dated dated 1521 have 7mm left and no cracking and had one puncture repair. The Bridgestone I've just fitted are from 4522 and we're on the car when I bought it June 23. I took them off and they were stored inside and refitted last week. I used to use part worns quite regularly, but their prices are getting so high by the time ie collected them then pay to fit and balance them are not worth it now. My 2nd cr, a golf m4 1.9tdgt recently needed two tyres, I went to the tyre shop, asked for 2 mid range tyres that they would use themselves and came out with two nexensfitted for £120. On Ebay most part works were80 for a pair plus postage usually extra cos I'm north of Aberdeen would have costmore than that.
  22. Not all used wheels and tyres are bad news. I have two sets of wheels for my karoq, both sets bought secondhand. My winter set came with the car, the factory fitted 18s with about 1/2 worn tyres which got removed and fitted with2 new and 2 used vredestien winters. They have now done 2 winters, probably about 7000 miles the wheels had done 52000 miles when I bought the car. The summer set were bought 4 tears ago,off aguy who had them on a vw transporter. They had eent Michelin cross climates on two and two new kormoran when I bought them. They did 24000 miles on my yeti, and another 8000 on the karoq. The Michelin have just been replaced with the best two Bridgestone I removed nearly two years ago. I have had no problems. Now my question to those who would not use used wheels or tyres is, if you were to buy a 5 year old car with 52k covered as I did would you then change all 4 tyres with new immediately, or evenchange all 4 wheels and tyres immediately? After all you don't know the history of then, could have been kerbed or buckled or punctured and repaired poorly but look brand new.
  23. I am not a fan of Michelin Cross climates. I've just dumped mine, still with 3 to 4 mm, measured by the tyre shop. They were seriously perished between the treads and on the sidewalls. The date on them were 1221, so 4 years old. In that 4 years did 15k on the front of my yeti, then 12k on the karoq.
  24. My go to tyre fitters won't now fit new tyres that they have not supplied. They will fit part worn that the customer has sourced themselves for £15 a pop balanced and disposal of the old one, which seems cheap to me.
  25. I've found my 2019 model 1.6td SEL to be comfortable, and no issues at all with suspension being noisy or crashing.
