  1. Cardiff Bus has been 100% owned and run directly by Cardiff Council from 1902 right to the present day. The arrowed are the sort of ones I drove in the mid to late 90's EDIT L-R Leyland Lynx, Optare Metrorider , Volvo Aisla (front engined and kin hot in the summer)
  2. Luxury. When I worked at Cardiff Bus we had to start our own busses and just bloody freeze lol
  3. Just had a text from Andy at AudiSaab, all sorted and they're dropping it back off to me this PM
  4. Next trick from the government will be to increase the fuel duty on diesel and petrol to make EVs appear cheaper to run
  5. If it wasn't for the Government setting artificial sales target to try & meet spurious emission requirements then we may have seen some mass market PHEVs,HEVS & MHEVs hell we might even have seen some High end luxury sports BEVs but we wouldn't be hurtling towards the kluster**** we are now with people offsetting or what not because of those artificial government targets, regardless of which government!! The way its going the only car manufacturers that are left will be the new Chinese ones cos they aint making ICE cars so will always hit 100% ZEV sales
  6. cheese & rice , can you not tell when the mickey is being taken or is that soap box so far inside of you
  7. Of course it does but it will be German Japanese Chinese French etc manufacturers paying the fines for not hitting targets not out glorious British car industry
  8. Just as well we (in the UK) haven't got a (mass) car industry that would be adversely impacted by trying (and failing) to hit the artificial targets set by the Government in regards to zero emission vehicles (not Electric Vehicles).......................................
  9. My first car was an old beetle with 6v electrics. I had a secondary 12v to make sure it started
  10. and maybe I'm wrong but based on their (IMHO) impressive Google Review history I don't think there are going to be any "disagreements" https://www.google.com/search?q=audisaab+reviews
  11. damn it, out pedanted lol but I think we can agree on why generically its just thought of as CANBUS monitoring ;o)
  12. and this is why many garages are now starting to insist on dashcams being disabled when a car left with them....................
  13. I'll be honest they haven't explicitly confirmed that but bear in mind this has gone back to them under the 6 month rule so legally it's on them (and yes they don't even need to use new parts, just fix the fault). I'll worry about that once she's fixed but based on my experience with them so far I think it's going to be a non issue
  14. being pedantic so feel free to ignore me Yes you are correct in that the Lighting Control Module will likely monitor OC & Current however the LCM will then communicate with the rest of the Control Modules and the Primary Module using CANBUS Well that's what I think anyways
  15. I meant to ask. I presume you're not talking about the pockets on the backs of the seats for rear passenger use are you? I do recall seeing some Superbs have a pocket on the side. IIRC mine doesn't
  16. no idea on the wheels but the car was at Mansfield Road Skoda in Nottingham ;o) No Markings on the inside or backside of them??? EDIT: Wonder if they're Scirocco wheels? https://www.partsbit.com/cars_parts/alloy-wheels-set-vw-scirocco-137-138-7160037.html
  17. Also I was specifically quoting UK MOT Regulations, other countries (such as Oz) may differ ;o)
  18. moving on...........................
  19. leaving the above to one side we don't even have the ability to be self sufficient in feeding ourselves (or clothing ourselves)
  20. Pretty much all VAGs suffer from this (including my own Superb) . As long as the light by the SOS button is green (if its Red then functionality not available) then personally (& pragmatically) I just ignore the error and treat it as a transient nuisance. It could be caused by temporary lack of mobile signal at ignition on or any other transient glitch in the comms protocols Some people have , it appears , spent lots of time in & out of dealers in attempts to get this fixed. IMHO any such fix is likely a placebo
  21. even if correctly adjusted as of 2021 you would still fail a UK MOT simply for having them in a housing not designed for them. Other countries regulations may differ https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/special-notice-01-21-headlamp-conversions https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/4-lamps-reflectors-and-electrical-equipment#section-4-1-4 Existing halogen headlamp units on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp for light source and lamp not compatible. This does not refer to complete replacement headlamp units which may be constructed with HID or LED light sources. If a complete headlamp unit has been replaced with a unit that was manufactured with HID or LED light sources, it must not be failed for ‘Light source and lamp not compatible’ but it must meet all other requirements detailed in section 4 of this manual specific to the type fitted at the time of test.
  22. The OP knows how to disable it (now)from the menu I think rather the point was it didn't do it previously. My implied presumption is that a PO had disabled it before the OP purchased the car and until now he |she wasn't aware that there was such a thing. Well that's how I read the OPs post anyways
  23. 104 according to the Met which looking at other marques is quite low For context 2356 Toyotas were stolen in the same period Meanwhile elsewhere in the VAG arena https://www.met.police.uk/foi-ai/metropolitan-police/disclosure-2023/september-2023/total-figures-breakdowns-car-motorbike-van-thefts-may2022-may2023/
  24. My MY18 one up from poverty spec Superb has a flip key
