  1. I just have a phone holder mounted on the cooling vent so it gets "some" coolish air (yes Im aware that if i turn the heating up that will warm it but as I typically leave the temp set at 18c all year around then meh
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxXDrwnGVJM
  3. I didn't think Waze (or other IOS/Android nav apps) output to the screen shown, was under the impression that was the built in **** nav only
  4. idle curiosity here. How difficult a process is it to import cars from the UK mainland onto the IOM?
  5. This is also true
  6. I've no idea if that works on my Superb 1.4TSi as I dont have the Eco|Normal|Sport selector option ;o)
  7. and the fact that Khan and other exponents want to charge EVs to enter a ULEZ proves its all just a big con trick and sweet fanny adam to do with reducing emissions (sorry that's a different thread isn't it ;o))
  8. I do like Moggys observation at the end that converting classic cars (like the Testrossa) to EVs makes them effective daily drivers and is analogous to putting central heating into a Georgian house. You keep the architecture but have modern heating. See outside of Government edicts & legislation this sort of thing makes sense (however the infrastructure still needs to be there and I accept without Govts pushing Zero Emission Vehicles it probably wouldn't exist even in the state it is today) O I
  9. the reality is with all the oxygen and other equipment (plus all those people foing silly things that people do) there it's probably statistically more likely a fire will start in the hospital then in the car park.........
  10. autohold applies the foot brake so does not operate on the gearbox. For any parking maneuver I turn it off out of habit as it can be annoying when inching
  11. There's a further question . Does that sign apply to all EVs or just BEVs? I know what the majority of people will take it to mean but surely HEVs & PHEVs also have the same sort of "dangerous" battery in ? Should the signage be made clearer?
  12. ah even more interesting https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/press-releases/keeping-you-safe-on-the-road-with-skoda-care-connect/ and https://www.skoda-auto.com/services/assistance I would hazard a guess that the Breakdown number calls +420 236 090 002 which is a Czech Number for what is essentially Skoda Customer Services rather than a "breakdown" number As a rule, the customer advisor will speak English as well as the local language. However, any language barrier can easily be overcome even if the driver is currently abroad. On request, ŠKODA drivers can be connected to a call centre in their own country so that they can communicate in their native language. I mean they can call a Breakdown service for you but reading between the lines it probably isn't the breakdown service you are subscribed too (unless you have Skoda Roadside Assistance) ŠKODA will not let its customers down in the event of a vehicle breakdown, either. After pressing the breakdown call button, they will be connected to an expert service employee who will be available to give advice and assistance. If the driver agrees, the system will then transmit the current location and all relevant vehicle data to the breakdown service at the same time. This makes it easier for the advisor to determine the cause of the breakdown, clarify further steps with the driver and arrange for the necessary measures to be taken. If it is not possible to continue the journey, the breakdown call agent will organise a recovery vehicle so that a technician can resolve the problem on the spot. The breakdown call button can also be used to arrange a service appointment at your nearest ŠKODA dealer. Another practical feature is that if there is an infotainment system onboard, the address of the ŠKODA service partner will be displayed in the navigation system. And the best thing: the proactive services of Care Connect, which support the driver in many situations, will remain free of charge for 10 years.
  13. Interesting, Just found this on Skoda UKs website. If you have the Skoda/AA breakdown package they give you a number to ring rather than using the "Breakdown" button https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/roadside-assistance
  14. Idle curiosity piqued by a comment elsewhere about ho wthe SOS functionality works. Can the number that the Breakdown Button C calls be changed or is it hardcoded to the Skoda /AA ??
  15. Unless it becomes one of of those "New Road Junction Layout Ahead " type signs that never get replaced after years and noone really remembers the old layout ;o) I mean TBF this doesn't look or feel like a temporary notice
  16. that's a bit of a diversion ;o)
  17. That Image has made me think. If there are no parking restrictions on the road a pair of transits (other vans are available) strategically parked to form a chicane might slow the traffic down ;o)
  18. also vehicles with loud pipes in low gears sound faster than they really are. That's another Positive Bias or False Perception or whatever it's called
  19. So presumably at the time not nearly all the cars were speeding then otherwise something would have been done. im not saying that there aren’t cases of excessive speed but is it possible that there are some positive bias issues? eg for the handful your pi has caught “speeding” how many weren’t?
  20. a single beep at random intervals sounds to me more like something being detected by something (lane detection, forward collision detection etc) than a single beep at regular intervals does
  21. who did the traffic monitoring? What equipment was used? #curious
  22. yup, Im averaging 43mpg from my 1.4TSi ACT and as you say you wont be using LPG 100% of the time so the payback period is probably closer to 5 years there as well
  23. working on the presumption that LPG mpg is 20% lower than petrol then based on 34 mpg(petrol) then that would be 27.2 mpg (LPG) So thats 551 gallons / 2503 litres of LPG to do the same 15000 miles which at £0.80 per litre is £2003 Which is approx £317 less per year than the diesel so about 6.9 years to pay for the LPG conversion Its approx £1297 cheaper than petrol so slightly less than 2 years payback (higher if your petrol MPG is better than 34mpg) (think I got that right)
