  1. I ordered a customised picture from Yeomans Car Art, (they used images of my car as they did not have one of the latest on file) The picture here does not really do it justice (crappy camera phone), I am really impressed with the quality, the detail is great, even down to the Reg No.
  2. Yep, but it seems that SUK have just lowered the minimum setting (effectively widening the tolerance) rather than moving the whole range down. That is only if you complain & they dig out the tech bulletin from 2005.................................... :wonder:
  3. Sorry for the long text, So, like a fair few people on the site, my car came equipped with Dunlop Maxx GT tyres from new (December 09). Like many, I experienced the uneven wear (combination of saw tooth & high/low spot wear) on the inner edges of the rear tyres. This, I thought was due to the incorrect camber settings, so had the car checked on a Hunter geometry alignment rig at my local tyre depot, unfortunately the slightly post pubescent operator was only looking for green bars on the readout rather than actually understanding what was going on, my dealer confirmed that all was within the Skoda (revised) spec of -1.2'min -2.7'max camber. (mine was -1.5 nearside & -1.7' offside) the only help the tech at the dealer said could give was reduce the camber to the lowest factory setting of 1.2' & rotate the tyres front to rear regularly, this is the Skoda UK position & that was all they were authorised to do. So after reading many positive post about Tony at Wheels in Motion/Blackboots, I booked the car in during my next trip down the M1. I had the Geometry checked adjusted today & thought I would share my experiences. The setup at WIM is seriously impressive, clean, welcoming & you get a general feeling of a high degree of professionalism. The geometry alignment jig looked like it had just been unwrapped (a clean tyre centre - theres a novelty) & before each check the machine connects to the manufacturer database, just to ensure that the info it has is the most up to date. My car needed 2 new tyres for the front as they had just reached the wear indicators, Tony managed to find 2 Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas (even though Vred UK do not have any until the end of May), the Dunlops have been poor lasting only 9,000 miles of mainly Motorway driving. The current rear tyres hum so bad at 40mph+ it sounds like I have a worn wheelbearing, Skoda say "put them on the front & the rear noise goes away", Of course it does, it just goes to the front, anyway, I digress. Now i have proved my point I will be re-visiting the dealer to discuss further. The WIM Tech (didnt get his name) checked the car & although the majority was within Skoda Spec, the rear toe was pointing out, effectively dragging the inner edge of the tyres. After consulting with Tony (Bones - Partner of WIM) on the best course of action, it was decided to go as close to the manufacturers camber settings as possible (-1.20'), but to correct the toe also to Skoda's settings as it was felt these were the majority contributor to the tyre wear. So I now have a car that is set to the optimum settings within the Skoda recommendations, however, Tony did say to keep an eye on the wear & if there is any evidence of similar problems to come straight back & we will tweak things to try to work out an ideal geometry setup for a standard car to minimise uneven tyre wear & noise. I am going to be covering 4-6,000 miles in the next 6-8 weeks so it wont be long before anything shows up. As a final note, I would like to thank Tony & the team, I would not hesitate to recommend them, the geometry check was more than I have paid in the past, but like anything in life, You get what you pay for ! I for one will be using them again.
  4. Sorry to jump in & hijack, but what is the technically minded view of the DROBO FS Here ? Looks very good, almost too good to be true.
  5. I used the same aerial & mine is fine. but I have a seperate GPS antenna under the dash
  6. I drove both before i purchased mine. I ended up with Heated Leather, as that felt the best to me.
  7. My car goes into Wheels in Motion on Wednesday for a full geometry setup & 2 new tyres, Car has done 9,000 miles, fronts are on the wear markers, rears are saw toothed badly. Skoda dealership says to set rear camber to -1.2' & rotate to front to stop wear, SUK say there is not a problem. Dunlops are not the best !
  8. Vredestein UK are out of 225/40/18 Sessantas until the 25th May......................................... The only ones available are whats in stock at the tyre dealers. Happy Hunting
  9. Hmm, Can you send the link ? Cannot seem to find it on their site. Thanks
  10. Its back in stock at Chesterfields tesco, still £3.33/litre. I picked up half a dozen.....................
  11. As above really, did anyone manage to get any good shots of the sunset on Friday night? The one that would not have been ruined by aircraft vapour trails? I was all twitchy as I drove down the M1 looking at the orange glow unfold, but alas was camera-less. I was hoping my body would have been returned from Canon (1D3 focus issues, 4th time return) but no, they have had it a week & still no luck. :(
  12. If I recall correctly, its just screwed on to the A pillar under the trim/airbag, should be a relatively easy to to retrofit/move no need for glass removal
  13. I have one being painted at the minute. Cost of spoiler is £130 ish inc vat & the bonding sealer. Mines being painted as a favour, but the fitting is easy as there is no drilling etc involved, i will post pics of mine when fitted as its silver & will look different from the black one.
  14. if you mean the ones that surround the fog lights, I believe a good Tug sorts it out
  15. There was a thread a while ago that gave the pinouts as it is possible, there is also a setup procedure on the headunit in the advanced section where you need to enable the DVD output. THIS THREAD may be useful HTH G
  16. Sorry only just saw your question. Its Wingerworth tyres on the A61 between Chesterfield & Tupton. £25 for the check I Think (was definitely no more than £30) Depends who checks it, (ask for Ryan) but he was not there when I went in so I had a trainee, :'( good for checking as its simple to do, just watch them when they put on the frames on your alloys, if they get brutal they can scratch them, just stay close to them & they will take extra care (you are not stopped from staying with the car)
  17. I have just clocked 7,000 miles in my petrol with Sport Maxx GT's Fronts are 80% worn, rears are saw toothed to hell & noisy. The fronts had noticeable wear at 3,000 miles. Terrible tyres, but I know Skoda are not going to gave a T*ss. :(
  18. Sarah Kennedy, now she's special ! I actually started listening to local radio until that dreadful waste of oxygen finished her stint at 7:30. Since she now finishes at 7:00, I can safely listen to the radio from when I wake up safe form her drivel...........
  19. I have many of the same things you mention, they only happen with the I Phone, not with my Blackberry or the Nokia that is paired with the car. re-enforces my opinion of the I Phone : Great Toy, Cr*p Phone
  20. Please do, its a serious offer, I am more than happy to do it. I am 5 mins from Junction 29 M1. Cheers G
  21. As well as the moral support, If you want, I can offer some "Technical Support". I am not a million miles from S Yorkshire & have a fully equipped workshop. I am happy to give both bikes the full "once over" before you go if you want, anything that I have that needs fitting will be gratis, chains, cassettes, cables etc. I have been in exactly the same postion as you with a family member, my wife is also a MacMillan Specialist Nurse, so its doubly pertinant. Let me know, as I travel a lot with work overseas (Bike industry), so just want to make sure I am around when needed (if needed). Best of Luck G
  22. I like the images of Harry, very good & natural. The only comment I would make is that the colour temp seems a little high, maybe its the reflection from the floor (beech colour?) thats throwing a cast, just seems a bit Judith Chalmers on the skin tones. Good luck though, Cheers Graham
