  1. When I was a lad in my mini's & MK2 Escorts, the tyre widths were 165, 185 max. The Engines had a significantly lower power output, that was normally aspirated, so no peaky turbo's ! There were no traction controls systems to cut in, you learned to slide & spin in a controlled manner. Whilst the TCS helps in many situations, they can be a right PITA sometimes
  2. I have noticed that when I close the door on my car that there is a rattle noise from the rear bumper. This is only when all the other doors & windows are closed, the noise sounds like a flap opening & closing, it comes from both sides of the rear of the car. My question is: does anyone know if there is a pressure relief flap in the rear quarter panels ?, I know some cars have them to relieve the build up of air to aid door closing. If not, off to the dealers I go :wonder:
  3. That road is bleak even in the height of summer Bet he was from Totley, looking for a wine bar..................... * *Apologies to anyone from the western side of Sheffield not called Tarquin, Sebastian or similar.
  4. OK, I need a little help please for my Dec 09 FL vRS (Petrol non DSG). There is a massive amount of info on here regarding the correct coding values for various things, however, but scanning through the many posts on Bluetooth, there seems to be quite a bit of conflict for the latest versions on the FL Octavia. I fitted this weekend a Version C VAG Bluetooth module to a Bolero HU. All of the functions work as expected on the HU (using a BlackBerry 8900 Curve), the phone book has downloaded etc. but I see nothing in the Maxidot display. Can anyone give me the pointers for the following: The coding details for the Maxidot The Coding I will need to make a Columbus fully functional (with Voice activation - The Columbus arrives this week) Anything else I need to do Thanks again in advance
  5. Eddie Izzard for the next Dr Who.................... Think he would be cool in a non threatening cross dressing kinda way.................. No, that's not my bag, thing, scene or any other interpretation of my meaning, just think his wit & humour would be on the mark. :wonder:
  6. I am not sure if it is the same, but, I had a Webasto Auxiliary heater as standard on my Touran, was a complete PITA ! the exhaust is just under the front of the car & would fill the car will Diesel fumes & it was not possible to turn it off. Even with the VW mods it was still a problem Google "Touran auxiliary heater problems" to see what I mean.
  7. That's what I thought until Simon(Baker21) did mine , less than 75 miles on the clock & you should have seen the dirt that came off the paintwork, the glass was even worse, maybe as a result of the fall out from the big diesel engined ferry ! Claying is a must TBH Good Luck
  8. Forgot to say "Factory Fit" Parking sensors (some people have been unable to get the display to work when this has been fitted afterwards.) But maybe they are std on the Scout anyway, definitely an option on the vRS
  9. It comes as standard on vehicles with Bolero or Columbus head units with parking sensors. So vRS & Scout would be fine with Parking Sensors
  10. Hmm , you never know, waddya want, what size ? where are you ?
  11. Have a look Here they are well known for supplying good priced budget frames.
  12. Looks like we agree then Interesting you like the Boardman range but not the Carrera range, now this may be down to price point & spec, or maybe a certain amount of misplaced snobbery , the Carrera range is specced by the same product management team as the Boardman range, they choose the details, now do you think they going to make a bike ride worse than it can, just because its not their premium product ? Have a look at the recent (last 18months) reviews for Carrera, they regularily get very high marks, even the Idiots , sorry Rockstars at MBUK like them. Whilst if I were the OP I would probably not buy that particular frame on E-Bay due to its condition, I would not rule out Carrera per se. HTH
  13. Ok its just a coincedence then, it looks virtually identical to my car (except for the silver rails)
  14. Just wondering, My Silver FL vRS estate shows exactly that on the HU display when the parking sensors are activated, is this a fluke or is it generated by one of the controllers ? Does a red hatch show that particular model ? Yes I am bored ! (before anyone asks)
  15. 2 fronts are, 2 rears are not. & obviously the tailgate will not fit..............
  16. Think Ford have the patent to be honest, I know Renault used to fit one in the Scenic, but not for the UK Market
  17. Agree with a lot of what you say except that last bit, its like someone on a bike forum saying "Oh and don't bother with a Skoda". They are assembled on the production lines alongside many manufacturers bikes who have a far more "branded image" using the same materials, same basic parts (from SRAM, Shimano etc) (yes i have seen it personally) They are exclusively available from Halfords, who source, import, distribute & retail them, think about it for a minute, they are uniquely placed to offer value for money that others cannot come close to as they own their distribution channel entirely. Now I agree that the big H may not have the best staff in the world, but you cannot fault their value. This is what has the UK Bike trade in a flap, as they are struggling to compete. As you may have guessed, I do work in the industry, no I do not work for the big H. @the O.P. - PM me if you need any specific help.
  18. The Carrera frames come out of the same (Far Eastern) factory as many of the other "Main" brands, TBH it looks as it has had more use than he is letting on. if thats the frame you want, then go for it, but its only worth 35 quid inc postage tops. I would also budget for a new Bottom Bracket as it looks as if it is an ISIS drive, these do not last very long I am afraid, what size frame do you need ?
  19. Thats exactly what I will be doing, my 2 will of course be both for business use PS hope you are wearing flame proof overalls, someone will be along to tell you how Cr*p Macs are in a minute
  20. Was looking aroung the Skoda website for Tyre size on my new car, (its too cold outside to go & look) did a search on "vRS tyre size" & came up with various Metropoliton Police tests on Skoda cars Link 1 Link 2 Looks like a thorough test they do there, I want to do it (the thrashing around Millbrook bit) !
  21. Unless of course the dealer Screwed up & forgot to place the order & is trying to hide the fact
  22. I had my call from Vodafone yesterday (I registered a while ago). I have 2 x 32 GB 3GS handsets on order that are being sent FOC (18month contracts), £55/month each. They will be delivered on 15th Jan, I then have 7 days to decide if I prefer them to my current BB. Lets see........................
  23. Deepest Derbyshire, well Chesterfield to be more precise
  24. Its Finally Here ! Driven it for 30 or so miles so far, excuse the photos, they are: a ) taken on my B Berry at the start of sunset so look a little pink b ) I asked the dealer not to valet it as it is being detailed tomorrow. Initial impressions are fabulous, build quality is excellent, just getting to grips with the many variables of the Maxidot. Will post more when i stop driving it. 1 Seriously Happy Bunney
