Odometer mileage has gone down since last year!
Not a huge mileage off it!. I lost 12,500 miles from a Corsa Electric when an Over the Air update was done, or the car did a factory reset at 25,000 miles. Someone owns that EV now that has done more miles than they think it had, thought is was worth when buying it. I was not messing about with the Dealership or Vauxhall because the car was leased and often locked me out, probably OTA updates or foreign lorries CB's wavebands caused it.

Odometer mileage has gone down since last year!
@RichardOctavia1 So you have never noticed that the mileage was reduced. I have had MOT,s where the incorrect mileage was logged. How many miles a week or month do you actually do, just to give an idea how many since the last MOT / Service? Was the Service Indicator reset last year?

New Member with a few questions, sorry!
No retailers sell 98 ron in the UK, the E5 Super Unleaded is 97 or 98 ron minimum. It is not recommended 95 ron in the UK, it is a Minimum of 95 ron for the car, that is E10 in the UK. ESSO Super Unleaded is 99 ron Min in the UK. Not all is the same all around the UK, most regions are supplied / produced by Greenergy and distributed, and some are regions get it produced by ESSO. @OctoParrot What oil would you use then, non Long Life, VW502 00 5w 40 FS, or still long life but VW504 00 / 507 00, 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III? .............Best discuss with the remapper the Spark Plugs, Filter and any service items to do before remapping and if they have a DSG mapping. Dyno before with the plugs and fuel you will use and after the mapping.

the truth about electric cars
Carbon / emissions trading is the big con in this world. Like the EV Mandate and buying credits from other Car Manufacturers.

the truth about electric cars
Less need to kill and maim people in other countries or blocked them if there was not the greed to take what belongs to others like the USA & UK has done for many a decade. There is not wars hopefully over people stealing electricity generated by Wind, Solar or Hydro. Sadly in current wars there are those knocking out the Nuclear or what ever power plants. eg Ukraine, Palestine. There are Tariff Wars though and that is mainly about the Super Powers / bullies yet again. Oil & Gas rich countries who are just greedy. Now it is Minerals and rare metals / minerals that continues the taking of what others own. ..............................While other countries like Norway can do Carbon Capture the likes of the UK will spend millions or billions of public money and get no place fast. If it was economically viable it would have happened.

Karoq 1.5TSI ACT cambelt change.
Many avoid John Clark Group in Perth or Aberdeen and instead use Dundee Skoda / SEAT part of the John Clark Group. It comes down to the standard of the techs. They can not all be useless, there are very good ones. Pity about the hourly rates and these are maybe justified when it is a qualified & experienced tech doing the job well or supervising trainees work properly..

the truth about electric cars
Where is the spiralling upward petrol price? Yes the USA wants to rob Venezuela's oil and the price of Brent Crude is up. Back a few decades a gallon of petrol cost an hours wage of a low paid worker in the UK. Now a gallon of petrol is half the minimum hourly wage in the UK. for someone 21 or over. @lol-lol Even if half of all BEV drivers in the UK can charge at home there is no figures that would even half of those have or will ever have solar panels.

Karoq 1.5TSI ACT cambelt change.
Skoda / VW Group in the UK and the 5 years / 50,000 miles was unique really. Their nice little earner for UK Dealerships. Then people were not paying £800-£1,200 and trading in cars and Dealers did not want to have these cars with the Manufacturers Schedule, Guidelines or advised work done at their expense and a techs day spent on them. So Simply Clever, drop this nonsense. Not all Dealerships had the time or locking setting tools / qualified yechs.

Electric cars SORN ed, Freedom of information request
No Mk4 Fabia EV,s or diesels so why relevant here? There are the First Registered and then the yet to be registered but imported and not in the DVLA figures. First gen Porsche Taycan coming up to 6 years old now. Many offroad are they on SORN while awaiting what ever, even breaking or export.

Karoq 1.5TSI ACT cambelt change.
Was this @ Hawco? Now in Peterhead as well. Simply Clever is avoid their ridiculous prices. Best get the price from Victoria Garage Maud. The thing is it does mean the car needed all day if you have it done. Get a B&B and still cheaper than the rip off that is Hawco. They have all the gear and more than ideas at Victoria Garage Maud.

Is the worst thing about EVs actually the apps?
My cars plugged in now and started to charge. Then i unlugged the extension cable in the bedroom. Midnight i will go plug it in and then unplug at 7.00 am. It has just become a habit as i like to know the car is charging. When it starts the Smart meter device in the house changes from Green to Orange.

Jaguar, will it survive?
They are not looking for older wealthy drivers in the UK are they? Younger higher income wanting something they fancy will do. As it is the amount of power available is just wasted on UK roads.

Hello
@CapDin Welcome. Is it a TDI you have bought? How many miles has it done? Was there a Full Skoda Service History showing not all servicing to the manufacturers schedule, guidelines or recommendations carried out?

Is the worst thing about EVs actually the apps?
There are EV experts / techs around. Arnold Clark have sometimes to get a Contractor in. Maybe VW group dealerships should. Maybe some youngster or there will be very experienced sacked staff from Rockstar North.
-
Is the worst thing about EVs actually the apps?
@Aspman Is that into a Dealership for their Tech or Master tech to look at? Not actually away on a covered vehicle top VW UK for the 'Technical department' to look at what they already know is gash software and hardware not 'Fit for purpose' put out to paying customers.

Jaguar, will it survive?
Jaquar's future must be reliant on tariffs in the USA, China and rest of the world more than anything to do with sales in the UK. They are not British owned or financed.

the truth about electric cars
So there is going to be cars built using greener steel & materials, energy etc, and smaller cars / EV,s that will mean credits for the manufacturers. More manipulation of the figures as happens now with partnering and buying credits from EV only manufacturers. Smoke and mirrors and kidology as usual for the EU manufacturers. A proper version of the WLTP would be a good start as far as showing how much energy the BEV,s will use to do journeys in European weather / seasons would be 'simply clever'.

Sailfast
There is a filter to change with a DQ381, and if a Service Desk person or a tech said only needs doing at each 2nd service which if they were doing by the VW Schedule would be at 160,000 miles i would not have them touching the vehicle. I hope the Haldex servicing is being done correctly at 3 years / 30,000 miles or sooner and not just an oil change.
-
Sailfast
@Sailfast How do you know the Servicing was due at 40,000 miles if you do not know what DSG you have, who told you it was?......... As far as Hawco Peterhead or even Inverness that says it all. Best visit or speak to Victoria Garage Maud's technician.. So all of 15 miles to travel (30 return) , & Proper mechanics with all the gear and more than ideas and they charge realistic prices. People travel long distances so as not needing to go to John Clark Dealerships. or Arnold Clarks or HAWCO.

the truth about electric cars
@Lee Hungary & Slovakia get away with what they do because Germany use them for breaking sanctions of all kinds. Imports & exports of many goods and products at various times broken by Germany. VW Group building vehicles and components there & Hungary & Slovakia having plenty energy.

the truth about electric cars
There is an announcement now from the European Commission on the watered down plans over the ban on selling petrol and diesel cars. It is not to be 100% 'Zero emission' vehicles only available. It is to be 90% sold from 2035. That could obviously change again if German Car makers keep on moaning and getting their own way. After all Germany dictates what happens in the EU. Time will tell what happens in the UK once the government think on.

Mileage expectation for a 2017 Fabia Estate 1.2tsi
Keeping on servicing, spark plugs will have been changed twice by now i assume. I hope the air filter gets checked at least at the 2nd year services. Has the brake fluid been changed? Having a proper clean underneath and dry then rust inhibitor then a coating is a very good thing. It would have been best done before now.
