  1. Same here. At that point I switched off - mentally. I didn’t understand the purpose, until Chris’ explanation above. It makes sense, perhaps they are adding functionality to the Connect subscription in an attempt to retain users. No-one seems to be able to tell me if driver personalisation goes away at the end of the first year if you do not renew the subscription.
  2. I think the 16" reference is more to do with the combination of Winter Tyres AND snow chains. Pre facelift I am sure that the S (and possibly SE option) could be supplied with 16" rims. 16's were certainly a Skoda accessory option. Looking inside the fuel flap there are pressure values for 16,17,18 and 19" rims. Back in 2012 when I purchased a new Yeti this was the same problem. The SEL came with 17's whilst the S and SE came with 16's. A group of Briskoda members managed to get the factory to accept 'special order' variations whereby we could have SEL's with the wheels we wanted. Looking at other countries' configurators the 16" wheel is often an option. So it would seem there is no 'mechanical / design' reason why the 16 is not a permitted option. I think it is more of a 'marketing' decision, although in recent years wheel size has had an impact on RFL rates. My insurance company had no qualms about me replacing the 18's that it was supplied with for the 16's provided that the replacements are approved (TUV) and are of the correct dimensions in respect of stud spacing, ET, J value etc etc.
  3. Hi @Jamesmaher63 I have sent you a private message regarding a set of 18’s
  4. Bit late to this party, but if his car is a 2019 model then it’s likely that it has a MiB2 unit. In which case would’nt there be a SD slot in the glove box next to the one for the Sat Nav? I know the OP is against the idea of ripping CD’s to a storage device, but I know that I would rather have my 200 + CD’s on a piece of plastic that is the size of a thumbnail as opposed to them sloshing around in the car.
  5. Not in the UK, but the OP has Morocco as his country in his profile, so maybe the rules are different there.
  6. Whilst quite not the OP’s problem, our Sept 21 Karoq used to revert to some random track on a restart of the engine. My standard way of listening is to Random play across the whole contents of the USB stick with 200 plus CD’s. After getting fed up with this non compliance, I removed the card and made sure that all tracks were in Artist / Album name / track name format. I also got rid of any folders that were titled ‘unknown’. Now the system resumes (even mid track) from where it left off, be that me using the radio or the other half using the car with her own key / profile.
  7. Hi I went for these I prefer grey wheels to the silver variety. I bought CC 2's (the reviews seem positive) and they do seem to drive very well. I have had CC+'s on a previous Octavia, As Chris says.. TBH I would never choose another tyre unless something very very good came along. The CC 2's are not cheap, especially in this size as it is less popular, anyway, my friendly tyre dealer who we have used for years still managed to drop 15% for us.
  8. Just got rid of my 18” rims and horrible tyres that came with the car when I got it at the end of September. Now running 16” rims with 205/60/16 (the rolling circumference is almost exactly the same) Michelin Cross climate II’s. The difference is huge! Much quieter and smoother ride, plus the car feels more ‘planted’ on the road. Will be selling the 18’s to recoup some of the outlay....
  9. One would have though that there would be some sort of ‘release note’ somewhere so that end users could see what has changed in each revision!
  10. Indeed, at least we were able to fix most things without the need of a computer or a technician! Mind you, you had to drive around with a tool box and a selection of ‘spares’.... just in case
  11. Ah Oui! I got done south of Bordeaux a couple of years ago, going into roadworks from 110kmh down to 90. I wasn’t much over and got a fine of €40 if paid promptly. They have an aggressive charging scale, if you are well over fines can be extreme. At least I didn’t have to pay the roadside bobby! Rumour has it that since Brexit the European nations no longer have access to the DVLC database and therefore cannot pursue absent offenders. I am not minded to test this theory.
  12. Yes it's great fun to poodle along a 80kmh, I just engage cruise control - as show above. Mind you, a lot of the 80's that were once 90's have changed back again, this has now become a local decision, which makes it even more confusing!
  13. What you need is one of these They are USB 3 at one end and USB C at the other. Just copy all the files from your old SD card (via your HDD) to the new thumb drive. These are tiny, you just plug em in one of the slots by the sweet storage place, and in Media, select source and it will show up. I find it helpful (for the missus) to rename the drive to something like 'Karoq Music' it makes more sense to those who are IT challenged...
  14. Hmm... It must be me then! I cannot find a secret button (on the passenger seat). I have pushed as hard as my little fingers will allow and nuttin, nada.... Grrr Can someone post a pic of where abouts they are pressing this elusive button please.
  15. Hmm Just had a closer look at our 2021 SEL - Alcantara / heated seats. Same here - just a button to release the headrest (within a limited range of adjustment). No button in the back of the seat.
  16. I always have this selected, I like the ‘randomness’ of what comes next. I have over 200 cds on my USB stick, in the old car (a 2018 Octavia) it might take months before a ‘repeat’ occurred. I have not yet worked out what set of circumstances cause the system to go back to the beginning - it always finds the same track, even though this is buried within an ‘Artist’ folder and then an ‘Album name’ folder. And .... no the first track found is not alphabetically the first either. All very mystical.
  17. AGREED, the height of the boot area is much better in the Karoq, which means that larger objects can be easily transported, my issue was with the length of the boxes. I will check out the button to remove the head rest...
  18. Where would we be without @roottoot’s encyclopaedic knowledge of historic Briskoda posts?
  19. The other day we took a trip to IKEA to get various items. The last time we went we were driving an Octavia. As is standard with IKEA everything is flat packed and quite long. On arrival back at the car park it suddenly became obvious that the two (Billy) book cases we had bought might prove to be a problem fitting in the car! I had to remove the left hand rear seat (have to love the Varioflex seating option), which was put in the boot. Then I had to fold down the centre seat. Finally the front seat had to be pushed all the way forward and reclined. Now... this is where an issue appears. The seat does not lie flat, neither can you remove the head rest. Consequently the two boxes ended up resting on the top of the head rest and were inclined from inside the boot up to within a few inches of the headlining at the front. Fortunately all the other ‘small’ stuff that one collects as you wander around could be slotted into the remaining space. The Wife had to ride home in the rear offside passenger seat! She did say it was very comfortable however. I’m, not sure if this arrangement is beneficial or not. Having a proper ‘back seat driver’ as opposed to one who sits next to you seems to be worse.... The moral of this story? If you go to IKEA a lot, buy an Octavia. Alternatively, you could buy a trailer - which is what we did on the way home! (I have to add, the trailer is not primarily for IKEA shopping, we needed one in any case)
  20. I wonder how much petrol is added to the oil before the warning comes on? I can’t be good for an engine to have oil mixed with petrol sloshing around. I hope the dealers are doing a full engine flush and oil change when this happens.
  21. That’s the point.. You have the older system. There is no SD slot in the latest version (Mib3) that newer vehicles have. Like others I have noticed the same problem, I’m sure it didn’t work like that when we collected it at the end of September, and I know there has been an update to the software since we bought it. Perhaps this issue will be ‘fixed’ in the next update, mind you I don’t hold out much hope.
  22. I have just wired my Nextbase front and rear cameras in our new Karoq. The hardest part was finding a hidden route from back to front. My cam came with a little plastic lever tool, which helped in lifting up the headlining and other bits of trim to stuff the cable away. I have to say that opening the glove box to get at the fuses was much easier than in previous Octavias and a Yeti. One point to note is that my camera needed a 5v supply not 12, so after hardwiring I was confused as to why it didn’t work. Thankfully it didn’t get fried, so after a quick bit of online auction site shopping for a suitable step down transformer all was well. The guide here shows exactly how the wiring gets done, it’s not that difficult. Like everyone else I used fuse 47.
  23. For many years I used to have a spare set of wheels with ‘proper’ winter tyres on. Changing them over twice a year became a pain (especially my knees!). We used to live in the country, where road gritting was non existent and snow was more frequent than it should have been. The winters were so much better in terms of grip and road noise (being a softer compound). Then I had a revelation, I sold the second set of wheels and used the revenue to fund a set of Michelin Cross climates. On that vehicle I was running 16” rims so the cost of the replacement tyres was less than £100 a corner. These tyres were superb, I even got a set for the Citigo!. Now... Our long awaited Karoq appeared at the end of September. It is running a set of Michelin Primacy’s on 17” rims. They are HORRIBLE. They feel wooden underfoot, noisy and of course are prone to spinning when pulling away at an upward sloping junction. The DSG box seems to be incapable of putting the right amount of energy down in these circumstances. I fully appreciate that All season tyres are a compromise, having said that (given my age and driving experience) I am unlikely to push these to their limits of adhesion. I now have a quandary, do I flog this nice brand new set of 17’s and replace with 16’s and Cross climates? I suspect a few more chilly mornings will provide me with the answer....
  24. Surely, consecutive just means one after the other. There is no time frame implied. As for fixed servicing vs variable, I was lead to believe that vehicles doing low mileages (say 8k or less) per annum, should be on fixed as it would be quite likely that journeys would be shorter and the oil would possibly not get up to an proper operating temperature for long enough.
  25. My heated mirrors are left permanently in the ‘on’ position. The amount of juice that they consume must have an almost negligible effect on economy.
