  1. Probably yes as it’s mainly MY24 onwards cars affected. I own OBDII, VCDS (HEX-NET) and also had VCP. For me VCDS was / is always my ‘go to’ device.
  2. Why not just return it to the said workshop and get them to revert the coding? ATEOTD it's their error. Surely they saved a backup copy before changing the coding? Not sure if Autel saves a copy of any changes made? Simply copying and pasting someone else's coding is nearly as daft as not saving a copy of the original coding on the car before changing it, no two cars are identical so you are opening up a can of worms.
  3. To my knowledge nobody has written a file for later controllers. If your spare controller is s/h then there is a slim chance it may be coded correctly, but basically yes they need coding to your car.
  4. There is usually a couple of self tapper screws (maybe inside the 'handle' in the trim if your car has this? Then they just require a firm pull to release the trim spring clips.

  6. You need a device such as VCDS to put the brakes into ‘service position’ before you change them.
  7. Highly unlikely a 2024 car will allow you to code anything as it'll be SFD2. On a 2020 car you will be able to code once you turn off SFD (note this isn't SFD2) SFD was introduced in 2020, so not all if any of the car will be locked down. Unfortunately coding anything SFD2 protected doesn't look promising in the near future... if ever.
  8. What age is your car? AIUI anything 2024 onwards is SFD2
  9. Cheapest way would be to contact a local member who has HEX-V2 or HEX-NET VCDS.
  10. OBDEleven can’t unlock SFD2 (used on new VAG cars in the last 12+ months). I own both and ALWAYS use VCDS, support is brilliant (compared to almost non existent support with OBDEleven … and their one click apps aren’t healthy to use.) If you REALLY need to use on a mobile then the HEX-NET will do that, but at a cost.
  11. Can you code with it? No. Once this can be done by unlocking SFD2 then yes it’s progress, until then it’s a step backwards for anyone with a newish car.

Volkswagen Group (VAG) vehicles New Volkswagen Group (VAG) models from 2024 have updated security features (UNECE R155 and R156) to protect the car’s software. This new layer of protection, sometimes called “SFD2,” safeguards the car’s control units from unauthorized access, particularly for updates performed over the air (OTA). Under these new security measures, OBDeleven can only fully communicate with the car's main diagnostic part – the gateway control unit.
